Title: Noises Off peeps
Post by: Trevlac on December 30, 2004, 03:31:12 PM
I'm in a play for my acting class next semester and I get to play in "Noises Off"  (look for it on Google) as GARY the idiot who never knows what he's talking about and he plays a character named ROGER who is a twitchy 'everyone-is-trying-to-snag-my-girl' kind of guy.  Both are me to a T, lol j/k.

This is gonna be fun though at first I was a bit nervous.  There is very little talent in my acting class....like the failures of American Idol....

Luckily there's this girl Stephanie in there (one of the few people in there with talent)....and....yeah....

I was thinking of asking her for her number when school starts back up because my character GARY ad her character DOTTY have a kind of ..thing...for each other (I have a thing for her, coincidentally) and I feel it would help with the development of our characters.  Here's the snag:  I'm dead scared she'll think I just want her number and that it's a sort of loser attempt at sneaking it.

Anyone got advice on tactful ways of conveying that I wanted to team up on this play?  (also, my acting teacher is directing one while she directs the other, as she is very ambitous.)

You have to approach it with stealth and intelligence. So what would be best is to start rehersals with her and do well at first with your natural talent. Then when you start a new act purposely or "act" like you can't act and apolgize fiercely. Then tell her that it'd be better if you just rehersed it more. Then wait like...two days and say that your not making progress without her because your not sure when things are supposed to cut off or how she's to react. Then if she doesn't suggest something you have a genuis moment and ask her for her phone number so that you can reherse it more and not drag her down any further. This may not work and if it doesn't...flee to Mexico

you're a goddamn genius.  I would kiss you if I were gay. lol.  Yeah my plan (DUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR *drooling retard*) was to just suggest it after class some time but that has a major hole in it: I have talent.  And if I show it then ask for help she'll be like "wtf perv"

Or, you could do what any normal person would do, and go up to her and ask her for her number.

Yeah but where would the fun be? I guess you could always do that if all else fails. As for the massive hole in my plan....RUN AWAY!

It's a girl, not a nuclear warhead!  Just ask her for her damn number!

Asking for mere digits? You baffled me.

Anyway, be creative. Think some good shiz, and let it flow through your head.

Tongue Judo with Stephanie.
Become friends with her. A couple months later, kiss her and than apologize.

Almost exactly what I was thinking.  :)

Although, I suppose I can't talk, a girl at school asked me for my number. Heheheh.

Trevlac, listen, and listen well. DON'T ask for her number. not until the play is over, trust me. im in the play every year, it will bring down your preformance, wait untill after the play,

if she is in your acting class and the play, obviously she enjoys acting, so get your main focus where it should be, ON the play!

after the play, once you have had time to observ and get to know her, then would be the perfect time. becuase if you try asking for her number on openning night, and she turns you down, you wont wanna do anything, besides moap. and moaping doesnt get you anywhere on stage.

so thats my advise, Wait!
by the way, congratulations on the play part,
im currently doing the one act play, and odd enough i some how managed to get the lead. and i am the only male freshman who tried out.... odd....

That sentence was embarrassingly sad. Joke or not, Osmose.

Thank you for agreeing GC. Ah the feeling of being agreeable to true meanings of some setences *random blahble*

Is it that hard to talk to girls? o.0 I guess thru life I have not gained that experience, I guess I don't get shy much :D XD

Go through with it, and whatever happens, happens. Not like she's going to jab her hand through you and pull out your soul. XD

But anyways, yes. Sad joke...

LoL yes, either rejection or acception. Of course you may think either one will hurt your social status, but if you really want, then it shouldn't really matter.

actually it's not a school play.  just a class play.  but anyway I told you, I'm not trying to ask her out yet I  just think it'd help me memorize my lines if she were there to help and build the character connection that our characters already have in the script.

and DF, when and if I do actually ask her for her number, if I'm rejected she may as well pull out my soul...cause she's never ****ing alone...travels everywhere with friends.  Oh the embarrassment.  Then again I've never been afraid of being embarrassed before, you should hear the stupid stuff I've done.

Like one morning I was walking out of the cafeteria before school started and saw through the glass in the doors a creepy girl coming toward me....I got closer.....it was my reflection -_-.  I made the mistake of telling my friends in first period >.>

You must learn one thing... girls NEVER go anywhere ALONE. The only ones that do are usually an outcast of sometype or she hates large quantities of people around her. All in all, just find a way to pull her off to the side. If you're rejected, it's all fine and dandy. It happens (happened to me several times). As for getting the number, just ask and explain why you need it. Not a complictaed issue there.

lol.  well here's the update...

Trevlac is officially a frickin' retard.  I asked her today if it would be good for us to show the relationship between our characters on stage with over-kindness and enthusiasm.....I did not mention the phone number.  Here's why:  Dustin, (the other Gary, my character, for the other group of the play) came over just when I finally got her alone and from the way he was acting it seems he's her boyfriend.  It's not like I can ask for her number with him there REGARDLESS of intent.  Beacuse I really doubt he'll stop to think that I'm not making a move on his girl.

So we've gotten a Run away screaming command?

Post by: Trevlac on January 05, 2005, 11:47:39 AM
I just had an epiphany yesterday.  It was during lunch.  Dustin (the guy who is a bit 'friendly' with Stephanie) came to my table and started flirting with a girl there named Tiffanny.  Hah, I realized he's just flirting with Stephanie.  This makes me an official dumbass as well as retard.

you finally figured that out!? lol, j/k. But seriously, go up to her and ask her out. if she says no, just be cool with it. Trust me, things will come and go. Just let go and don't worry about it. that's the best way to go.
