Title: I know this probablly been brought up a million times
Post by: Drace on January 04, 2005, 12:05:46 AM
Why not just delete some memebers who haven't been on for let's say 6 months, off course only the ones that ask something and leave but thats about 3/4 of all members. Wouldn't that save space?

And you think it's totally impossible for someone to wait 6 months and come back? It's not a good idea.

I doubt it.....If they do they can just make a new account with the same name

If I recall correctly, the amount of members didn't take up a lot of Alex's bandwidth.
Perhaps only delete those who have less than 5 posts and have been inactive for 3-4 months?

We've all seen members come back after long periods of time. And, even so, it wouldn't save enough space to be worth it.

It's images that have any real impact on space and bandwidth. Doing this won't be worth the small risk of someone leaving for 6 months.

null  null
read the bold part and then look at your posts

tyia falls under those circumstances, but she pops in every once in awhile.

Text does not take up enough space to make a difference. Each letter it one byte. 1000 letters is one kilobyte, while a normal request around here is a few kilobytes of image. This idea isn't going to do any good in the end.

And what does null null mean?

There's also one LITTLE thing you have to consider.
Charas members may also not post at all in the forums, because the same account is used also to log into the generators and to share resources.
We cannot think a user is "dead" just because he didn't post here for a while or at all.

to osmose that was with the bold part
to alex I didn't knew that but can you see if he uploads or uses the genarator, if so you can still get rid off those who don't do either in a long while

That makes sense.....So I guess you shouldn't delete the users

It won't make enough of a difference to be worth the work of checking each and every user! Drop it already.

The biggest effect this would have on the forum would be the posts.
If we deleted all those old, unused members, BabyCatJuh would be one of them, and she has the largest thing in All of All, which gets posted still basically everyday. Think about that, too.
