Title: People here are young!
Post by: Almeidaboo on January 14, 2005, 03:08:56 PM
I was wondering if any of you guys go to University and what do you do...so that I can know a little bit more about the "charas" of Charas...hope this ain´t spam!

EDIT: Oh, and I also wanted toknow how does your country´s school system works and how do you get in the University.

I myself am a Law student, and to get where I am I had to go through a multiple question exam of all school subjects...pretty hard actually...I study in this University called Presbitarian University Mackenzie (translating to english of course) that was created by an American couple that came to Brazil and started with just 1 classroom to kids...

Actually, I believe the oldest person is Alex, then Jenna, and then Sai. Alex is near his thirties I THINK, Jenna is mid twenties, and Sai is like 20 or 21, can't remember >_<

SMB is the oldest active member hands down lol, his baby pic is in black and white lol. And our school system is prally similiar to yours. We go through about 12 years of school before we head off to a college or university. Thats just order of things. here anyway

I'm a student at the AMA Computer University - Fairview, Quezon City, Philippines. I also took a multiple choice entrance exam and like any other universities, it was hard. The course i'm taking is Computer Science. I am now on my third semester in the school.

All AMA schhols are Trimesteral, meaning we have three semesters per year. It's a rush, but it's all good. I have no idea who founded it, nor do i care. but all i know is the person who made the "I Love You" virus came from that school.

Cheers

LOL...

I heard that in the U.S. some Universities invite people to join and only invited people are allowed. Or they analiza ppl´s school curriculum.

If you are an exceptional student, you will become known to college recruiters and you'll recieve letters of invitation saying you've already qualified, but most of the time you need to apply to the college(s) you want to attend. Then you take the SAT or ACT depending on your college, and then any other tests or requirements the school requires you to. After you get accepted and get your bills paid, you go through two years of normal college education. After that you get to start working more on classes geared towards your major and minor.

hMMM..Kinda different from here. There´s no such things as invitations. You´ve got to "prove" (cuz it doesn´t proves anything...) that you are "better than"(cuz luck´s involved as much as social differences...) the other ppl attending to the exam...And you choose whatever you want to do (Law, Medicine, History...) and starts learning it right away. For some is it a big shock, for others it is a great relief (NO MORE MATHS!!!!) LOL....

I've paid for my bachelor's degree to go to Full Sail College in Florida. My major is gonna by Game Design & Development. It's expensive too.

But anyways, I'll be leaving to there in like 4 or 5 months.

P.S.  If you want to know more about Full Sail, it's where Pixar is located.

you can get a Bachelor's Degree just by paying for it, then survive the whole college life? it's different here.. you need to get high marks in all your subjects.. =3=

my major will be programming and graphics designing because that's the only few bits that i'm missing.. i've got a job that's waiting for me to graduate from college.. it's an MMORPG company that's co-owners with World of Warcraft..

anyway i just turned 18 last month and i'll be on my sophomore year in May..

In Holland you'll need VWO or HBO to go to University, or you must have outstanding ratings when you do HAVO. However, you can also go from HAVO streight to VWO or HBO when you have your HAVO diploma.

Well pratically i am a poor phillipino boy, whose nickname New kid still hasn't worn off... (obviously shows how the people in my area can see a filipino boy out of them all, very observant i see).  And a fresh man of hs... like always i hope to go into an artschool...
if not maybe into journalism since i want to explore the world one day... and journalism sends me to places where i least expect.. and that my friend is an rpg adventure enough for me.

I couldn't see anyone who posted about Australia's system. More accurately - South Australia's system:

1. Start school at 5 years of age. This year is called Reception.
2. Move through Junior, Middle and Senior Primary school from grades 1-7.
3. Start High School. This is grades 8-12, some schools have a grade 13.
4. Start University or join the Workforce.

I'm in stage 3, generally known as the worst stage.  ;)

Well, I'm gonna be 19 at the end of this month and I'm doing the 13th grade (German schoolsystem sucks) and that is why I'm not here so often anymore: I've got to learn for my final exams...
OK, here it is:
6 Jears old:
visit the "Grundschule" means learn how to write and so on for 4 jears
then it is splittet in about 4 parts till 10th grade(more or less):
1. the "Hauptschule" where peoples are who don not learn as good as the others
2. the "Realschule" where those go to that are "normal"
3. "Gymnasium" - here the"good-ones" go to
and 4. (what I do) the "Gesammtschule" (comprehensiveschool)
where peoples of all the school forms are in.
If u've visited 3. or 4. u may have the chance to do your Abitur- from 11. to 13. grade and visit university after it
It does not work. I don't know who of u read about the pisa thing (not the city, the test), but after it, descussions started and did'nt come to an end till now...
