Title: Nightmare Recast - The Phantom Project
Post by: Megasxlr on January 19, 2005, 11:06:13 PM
One of my first games, this game will (hopefully) be using a shining-force type battle system.

The plot- A theif stumbles upon a temple hidden from the eyes of mortals for over 3000 years. When he opens the door to the tomb inside, he sees a shining gem. When he takes it from the pedastal it was sitting upon, though, it explodes and lets loose an army of ghosts that had terrorized the planet for thousands of years. Now the planet's survival rests on him finding the shards of the Nightmare gem and sealing the ghosts once again.

The game is going to have a reputation system (I don't remember who to give the creds to, but the system wasn't my idea), a mission mode, and 5 main characters, as well as about 90 recruitable characters. It will also have a part that is just like Kingdom Hearts had, where at the beginning of the game, you choose his strengths and weaknesses. Some characters use RTP graphics, and some use Chara-generated graphics.

Jerrick - Age 15 - The main character. He is a headstrong theif who ran away from his parents 3 years earlier. He is one of the newest members of the Krown, a well-known gang of theifs who travel the oceans, looking for villages to pillage.
Title: yeah, i guess it really isn't too good of an idea

The base idea is incredibly cliche... however... the character bios are nice. They prove your not just some random newbie with a bad rpg idea.
I think you copuld make this deeper than your regular cliched rpg.

I do like that screenshot, I like to see more good mapmakers, but you missed the detailing on some spots.
But some places doesn't really need much detailing I guess.
Mapping is very good.

I don't think I can give any accurate feedback on this project till I actually play it.

The screen is pretty nice, but I think there's too much sand. If its suppose to be like that its allright, but otherwise I'd add some more grass by the edge of the continent (by the water), and maby in some other places.
