I know that they made an RPG maker for PlayStation. I've never used it.

there were two and I heard they were bad.

it would be cool to play your game or someone else's on a gameboy or something like that...maybe in the next installment of the rpg maker series.

I've only used the version for the PSX. In all honesty it's horrible. I could go on for ages on why the PC versions are better, but I'll only list a few things:

1. It takes ages to put in any text because the Playstation controller is being used.

2. Importing and creating resources is a pain and is almost non-existant.

3. You have to use the graphics and sounds that came with the game. Only about 30 midis and one (fairly large) chipset.

Bleh, perhaps I'm ranting.  But, I just want to make clear that the console versions (atleast the one I played) are bad.

Edit: Actually, I've heard that an Rpg Maker was made for the gameboy. But I think it's a Japan-only thing.

There are devkits you can use to make your own Gameboy/PSX/N65/etc roms/isos, and then just burn them or puyt them on a flash cart.

Yeah, I was looking into that too. It's possible, but it'll take time.

P.S.
I played the one for Playstation 2, I bought it because I heard it was 3D, and it was the cheapest 3D I've ever seen. Plus, typing one sentence with a controller took about 5 minutes. Phew!

I know its been quite a while since the last reply, but does anyone know more about that? I was hoping its possible to put RM2K3 games into ROM format and put to a blank cartriage. Or burn it to a disk, and play for a platform. Is there a way that acaully works? If anyone would be kind enough to tell me more information if they know of any....

my theory is that somehow compress all the RM2K3 files into one file, then convert that file into a ROM, then obvoiusly its easy to transfer that to a GBA Cartriage.

I ripped all the monsters from the GBA version and some charsets. So yeah, it exists and is Japan only.

Sorry, that wouldn't work...

Uh... topic kick, correct? Nearly a year old... :| Sometimes we just don't pick up on it I guess.

By that logic it would be easier to just edit a Gameboy ROM from the beginning. Search around, there are quite a few tutorials on learning either assembly or some language that compiles to it for the type of hardware you want.

Yes, it was a topic kick, but he apologized for it, and it's an interesting enough topic.

I agree with Moose, in that yu'd be better off editing/creatign a ROM from scratch than trying to convert RM files into the desired format. I'm sure there's programs out there that can help you do that, so try Google or Zophar or something.

D'oh, stupid me! I didn't even completely read his post. :( I guess I should never ever be a mod. :p

Anyway, about the topic I've always wondered about that too. Not sure if I could do it right even if I had what I needed, though...

Can anyone be a little more specific about that? Like does anyone know what he was talking about? Cause I kno Darkfox said its not possible, but I want to be sure...

and yeah i'm sry, i really should've started a new topic rather than replying to the year old one... lol

The only information i've gathered so far is, its possible to get them on Dreamcast, but it sucks, and the controls dont translate very well. I hear everyone now and then it is possible but difficult...
