Rules:
1. No cheating
2. No questions
3. No answers will be given unless it has been too long.
Winners will recieve respect from everyone here (usually).
Here's the first riddle:
"How many men are so knowing, so wise,
That their tongues can tell Who drives me into exile,
Swells me brave and strong and fierce,
Sends me roaring across the earth,
Wild and Cruel, burning men's homes,
Wrecking their palaces? Smoke leaps up,
Gray like a wolf, and all the world
Crackles with the sounds of pain and death.
When I shake forests, uproot peaceful
Groves, clouds cover me; exalted
Powers hurl me far and wide.
What once protected the world, sheltered
Men, I bear on my back, bodies
And souls whirled in the mist. Where
Am I swallowed down, and what is my name?"
Best of luck to all of you!

Hmm, Napolean at Waterloo?
-
Ummm......no, sorry, but you were close!
Come on! There's gotta be someone out there that can answer this!
-
Nobody knows this???
-

-
Isn't that from the Exeter Book?
It's not Jesus, is it? :D
-
Saddam Hussien or Osama Bin Laden
-

It's none of those. I don't know where its from, I just got it in English IV one day.
But your getting colder.
-
Hitler? (Just a guess outta the blue)
-
No, it is not a human.
-
Um...if it's not human, then how was barnsalot close when he said Napolean at Waterloo?
-
Water
hmm.....
-
Wind?
-
What is the source of wind?
-
Air?
-
LoL! No.
Hint: It's a natural thing.
-

-
No, your gettin colder, you were closer with air.

Hurracain.
What's that?
-
Silly me and my specifics....
-
that was a nice one, now this, why did the turtle cross the road?
-
Because the chicken told it to.
-
I am a case,
not a box or a bowl.
I don't have a lid
or a keyhole.
Yet inside me I hold a treasure.
What am it?
-
A bra, lawl.

Hey, wait, I'm the only one that can post the riddles in here! _veryangry_
Here's the next riddle...........
"Wounded I am, and weary with fighting;
Gashed by the iron, gored by the point of it,
Sick of battle-work, battered and scarred.
Many a fearful fight hav I seen, when
Hope there was none, or help in the thick of it,
Ere I was down and fordone in the fray.
Offspring of hammers, hardest of battle-blades,
Smithied in forges, fell on me savagely,
Doomed to bear the brunt and the shock of it,
Fierce encounter of clashing foes.
Leech cannot heal my hurts with his simples,
Slaves for my sores have I sought in vain.
Blade-cuts dolorous, deep in the side of me,
Daily and nightly redouble my wounds."
This one is a lot easier than the first one, or at least I think it is. Most of you SHOULD know this.
-
Armor
-

-
Chainmail?
-

Okay, new riddle:
"I war with the wind, with the waves I wrestle;
I must battle with both when the bottom I seek,
My strange habitation by surges o'er-roofed.
I am strong in the strife, while still I remain;
As soon as I stir, they are stronger than I.
They wrench and they wrest, till I run from my foes;
What was put in my keeping they carry away.
If my back be not broken, I baffle them still;
The rocks are my helpers, when hard I am pressed;
Grimly I grip them. Guess what I'm called"
I think this might be a rather difficult one for everybody.
-
Seaweed, or one of those bottles with stuff inside it that you find on the ocean.
-
sand or a tree
-
nope, your nowhere close
-
A mountain?
-
A volcano?
-
No, your now colder than Warxe was.
-
The sea?
-
A ship that sunk? (crashed into a rock)
-
Both of you are closer
-
The Titanic?
-
Are you joking?
-
Iceberg or a puffin.
-
Water, ocean?
-
It goes into the ocean.
-
Boat, sealife(broad, I know... Specifics:), seal, barnical, sea-star (star fish)?
-
None of those, but please post one guess at a time.
-
An anchor maybe?
-
ANCHOR!!!
Correct, Barnsalot!!!
I'm very proud of you because that was a hard one.
Okay, next riddle:
"My beak is below, I burrow and nose
Under the groud, I go as I'm guided
By my master the farmer, old foe of the forest;
Ben and bowed, at my back he walks,
Forward pushing me over the field;
Sows on my path where I've passed along.
I came from the wood, a wagon carried me;
I was fitted with skill, I am full of wonders.
As grubbing I go, there's green on one side,
But black on the other my path is seen.
A curious prong pierces my back;
Beneath me in front, another grows down
And forward pointing is fixed to my head.
I tear and gash the ground with my teeth,
If my master steer me with skill from behind."
Good luck!!
-
plow
-
yep! that was the easiest one.
Okay, here's the next one:
"I saw a silver creature scurrying
Home, as lovely as light as heaven
Itself, running with stolen treasure
Between its horns. It hoped, by deceit
And daring and art, to set an arbor
There in that soaring castle. Then,
A shining creature, known to everyone
On earth, climbed the mountains and cliffs,
Rescued his prize, and drove the wily
Imposter back to darkness. It fled
To the west, swearing revenge. The morning
Dust scattered away, dew
Fell, and the night was gone. And no none
Knew where the soft-footed thief had vanished"
Good luck!
-
That's a hard one, but I'll guess the sun.
-
yeh, it sounds alot like the sun
-
That's only half of the answer, guess the other half.
-
The moon setting and the sun rising.
-
Awesome, Warxe, everyone is getting better.
Okay next one:
Our world is lovely in different ways,
Hung with beauty and works of hands.
I saw a strange machine, made
For a motion, slide against the sand,
Shrieking as it went. It walked swiftly
On its only foot, this odd-shapped monster;
Traveled in an open country without
Seeing, without arms, or hands,
With many ribs, and its mouth in its middle.
Its work is useful, and welcome, for it loads
Its belly with food, and brings abundance
To men, to poor and to rich, paying
Its tribute year after year. Solve
This riddle, if you can, and unravel its name.
Good luck!
-
Snake
-
uh.......................no.
but good guess!!!
-
Okay, I'll give everyone a hint because they were complaining it was too hard.
Water
-
A canoe/boat.
-
I guess I gave it away there.
Good job, Warxe.
Boat
Next Riddle:
"I am puff-breasted, proud crested,
a head I have, and a high tail,
eyes & ears and one foot,
both my sides, a back that's hollo
a very stout beak, a steeple neck
and a home above men.
Harsh are my sufferings
Whenthat which makes the forest tremble
Takes and shakes me.
Here I stand under streaming rain
and blinding sleet, stoned by hail;
freezes the frost and falls the snow
on me stuck-bellied. And I stick it all out
for I cannot change the change that made me."
I think this is the hardest out of all of them, because none of you might not even be familiar with what the actual answer is.
But, Good Luck!! ;)
-
Guess you guys!!! That is the only way you are going to get the answer the this most likely!
I'll give everyone a hint, it starts with a W.
-
Weathervein?
-
WOW!!!
He guessed it correctly? Wow, I'm impressed!
Okay guys, you have to wait on your next riddle until tomorrow, sorry.
-
