Title: Legend of Ertar
Post by: GaryCXJk on February 14, 2005, 12:10:49 AM
You remember the RPG I was planning on making, called Legend of Ertar? I quit making the RPG.

Instead I'm writing a book. It will completely follow the storyline initially made for the RPG, with a better plot. I did change certain things, for example reduced the amount of main characters.

I currently have the prologue finished. It's a Dutch book, but I see if I would translate it for you. I'm planning on publishing it one day, or at least I'll try. For now take pleasure with a short summary of what the book is all about.

The story takes place on the world of Ertar, a place that is not real. Not real in the sense of, not real in the story. It's a virtual world. This concept will be used in the book later on. For example, in some ways the people who live there, the spirets, are restricted to other phisic laws, and the sun is flat (until the next server update). Also, as the story progresses more things will change. For example, in the beginning one of the main persons has a clean garden, but later on in the movie she discovers wildgrowth, something that wasn't previously going on. After she complains by the way her garden gets excepted from the wildgrow list :P (her father is a god).

Anyway, the first main character you'll meet is Enekin (actually it's Gray, but he's in the prologue, so that doesn't count). Enekin is a woman that doesn't care for anybody. She also believes she sometimes live in a videogame (because of her dreams). She lives on a mountaintop near Golgeo, where she lives a lonely life. She actually likes being lonely, because she then can do things without anybody bothering her *cough*.

By the way, the entire book will be perv free, though a lot of moments there are some suggestive perv.

Anyway, Enekin gets sent on an adventure by her father, because he's had enough of Enekin living a lonely life. If she doesn't go on an adventure her cabbage and other plants and vegetables will get destroyed :P.

That's what the first plot is all about, but after a while a lot of plots turns into another type of plot.

Anyway, if you have any comments about this book, feel free to comment.

I like when people try to create a novel from a game. Mostly because so you can learn about more of the story and the events that happen outside the game, or were supposed to.

I am also writing a novel based off of a game, and it's nearly finished. Keep me posted on its status, Gary.

If I manage to get it translated and shipped to foreign countries.

Anyway, some small facts.

Almost every name and place, hell, even some expressions, are anagrams of certain things or names. An easy example is Gray, but there are a lot of others as well. Try to reposition these names or places (places (P) are mostly computer related, names (N) are always based on other names, and I will only use English names):

(N) Nythano
(N) Slewey
(N) Trisky

(P) Golgeo
(P) Dyctropolis
(P) Mideo Vegas
(P) Maine
(P) Xulni

By the way, I won't give the sollution, it's fun if people find out themselves. I'm also planning on adding an anagram list at the end of each book (I'm planning on writing 7 Ertar books).

And here I lie with a problem. In order to realistically make a book I need artwork based on my descriptions. That's why soon I'll post a seperate site where every concept art is stored based on the description I give to the character. I only want good quality artwork, not crappy Paint stuff. If you want to make some artwork from a certain character, please follow every description. Oh, and ugly people don't exist. Everybody is beautiful.

Okay, first character description.

Enekin

I hope you can describe the hair style good, because you can't put Hairstyle: Short (Yuna / Yuffie) in it.  :p

Yeah, you're right :P

But I can't really describe it, other than with a sprite.
