I don't have any idea. I DO know where to get a MP3 - WAV thing, though. Would that be ok?

It's not impossible, but it's quite possibly AI-complete, i.e. we won't be able to do it before we have an artificial intelligence that's as smart and as much a generalist as humans :).

I'm not quite sure, though... one would imagine that if you first get samples of all of the different instruments separated out with human help, some heavy signal processing *could* get out a rather accurate if incomplete list of beats out of it. Vocals might be a problem, though...

/me dives in to scholar.google.com to see if he's anywhere near the right ideas

A MP3 is a band made music file.

A midi is music made by a keyboard. The voices that are on there now is probably going to be the best one we have for a while.

Why don't you just download the latest RPGMAKER by RpgAdvocate? It supports mp3's. The only problem with using mp3's though, is it makes your game file huge. So, limit them. I only use 3, I think. But it's RPGMAKER 2003 V. 1.08. The problem with converting mp3's to MIDI format, is you lose a lot of quality. In other words, it'll probably sound like crap.

Or just do what I said.

Which is what I would suggest too.

Oh sorry, didn't see that. XD. Well, if I'm not mistaken, wav's are actually bigger files than mp3's if it is a song. So that would just make the game bigger. I might be wrong though... :|

Wav = uncompressed
Mp3 = Compressed in the MPEG 3 format

Downloading RPG Advocate's translation = illegal

Yeah, that's what I thought. I guess a wav has more quality...I don't know. Your best bet is the new rm2k3 version.

Edit: Osmose: Having any type of English or non Japanese rm2k3 = illegal.

What I do, and I'm sure a lot of other people do this too, is take a simple part of the song and put it into WAV format, for instance, the chorus, it sounds cool right? So, use it.
