Title: New Project: Wielders of the Rift!
Post by: Weerd Thing on February 20, 2005, 08:08:01 PM
Heya, sorry about that last game, I know it sucked. I am currently working on a new project, but sadly, I have only started. I'd need help. I'll also update this post on the status of my game and demo. So here goes!

OK, as DragonBlaze said, I'll post the info on the characters:

Clide: He is an Alraune, the dual-winged race. He has the power to open dimensional rifts, as a few people can, and he lives on his dimensional island. He is best friends with Eras, a human man.
Norgard: He is a Yormun, lamia-ish people with horns, and he uses guerilla tactics (if only I knew...) in battle. He is friends with an Alraune (Clide) and is extremely trustworthy.
Eras: A normal man: or is he? He is strong, but not as much as Norgard. He can use various kinds of weapons, but he prefers to stick with what he does best: magic.

OK, right now, I have no official story: that last one was too corny. If someone could help me make a story I would appreciate it. Thanx!

I forgot to put in the highlights, so here:
-You will be able to fuse weapons and skills together to form new ones.
-lots of side quests and minigames that will affect the story.
-Multiple skills that have a once-only learning time.
-skills cannot be learned through battles: you have to buy those skills or obtain them another way.
-combined monster groups. Example, there could be a slime with a hippogriff, etc... those are not monsters from my game, by the way. Just an example.
-...other stuff... suggestions can be given, you know!

Maps: 0.5% done
+Database: 80% done
Resources: 50% done

If anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.

Now the big list of the Database:

-Database:
Items: Around 60%
Monsters: 100%: there'll maybe be more though...
Animations: 100%: there'll probably be more though...
Heroes: 30%
System: 100%
Charsets: 30%
Skills: 100%: there'll probably be more though...

That's about it...

Help is appreciated and needed!
High thanks to DragonBlaze for the title!

Need musical help?

Speaking of which, where in that other game did you use my boss theme?

Post by: Weerd Thing on February 20, 2005, 11:26:36 PM
Well, I didn't really use that one... when I got Anvil Studios, I decided to (try and) make some boss music. And I made a fine result IMO. Wanna hear it?

Back on subject, sure, I'd appreciate your help, Zidane. I have one just now: some world-map music. I'd need that. Thanks if you can!

What you told me so far sounded pretty good :D, you may want to post some info on the story and characters though so people will know what your game is about :)

Well you allready talked to me about it, but I'll look into it some more. It sounds as though your database is missing monster groups or its corrupted :(

It seems to me that it is corrupted. BTW, the music works again. I have contacted Don Miguel about these problems and I am expecting an answer shortly. :)

Yeah, I figured that out.

DragonBlaze, I know what happened. You see, I started this game in RM2K3, and I tried to bring it into RM2K. I forgot that you couldn't reverse the process. Only from 2k to 2003. Not the other way. I'll never do that again. :p

Why would you want to go from RM2K3 to 2K?  RM2K3 is a much better program all around.

Maybe because my game works better with a front-battle system... :p

OK, I'm about 80% done on the whole database, and 0.1% done on the maps with the events. Thanks to Charas for many battle anims and monsters, etc.!

Now, I only need help with the storyline and the maps will be zooming along!

Thanks to all who help me! Credit will be given!

Nice :), if you want to use the front view battle system in rm2k, thats ok. I do suggest that you the hero who is attacking in the battle animation if you can, and if it works good with your game. If you haven't played any rm2k games that have done this, here is what it is like. In your animation you include a pose of the character in all 3 walking poses (right step, left step, and no step), then you also include an animation of the hero attacking. When you make the battle animation, use the right, left, and no step poses in sequence to make it look like your hero is running to the enemy. Then once you read the enemy, use the attacking pose to show the hero attacking, also include some sort of slashing animation or an animation appropriate for the type of weapon the hero uses.

Doing this usually gives you a nice visual that the heros are really involved with the battle, and you can see which hero is doing what. You don't have to do this if you don't want to, but it probably would make the battles a bit more interesting with the rm2k dbs  :)

Hmm... You have a point there. But I'm already done all the battle animations. I seriously don't want to redo them. It took about 2 weeks to finish just that! So I guess I'll have to include something that could make up for the battle system. BTW, keep checking the first post all the time, members. Updates will be edited into the first post. Thanks!
