the games good so far (although I've only reached the earth temple), btw, in the temple basement, u know that you had that shadow picture thing I noticed the game lagged, heres how to fix that:
at the parralel process that you used to show the picture, after "show picture" put an "erase event"

EDIT: the musics gr8!!! it all fits the moment, and generally sounds good!

you could add some clouds to liven up the world map though...

Post by: drenrin2120 on February 25, 2005, 07:42:47 PM
hm... that erase event thing sounds good, and I've been tryign to figured out ways to make the world map more alive, but it's so HUGE it lags.

BTW: how long did it take to get to the Earth Temple?
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on February 25, 2005, 08:01:01 PM
Ok... I've been thinking about this whole, livening up of the world map, and I'm thinking it'd be kewl to have the weather change depending on where you are on the world map. sound good?

Here's an idea of how it could work.

It'd be controlled by a common Event, two variables, and a flag. The two variable will be X Co. and Y Co. constantly checknig the character (X,Y) Coordinates on the map. The Flag would tell the commont Event that the character is on the map based on whether the flag is ON or OFF. When this common event is in play, I'll have a few Branches which will decide, based on the coordinates, what weather effect to display.

How does that sound? any better ideas?

BTW: srry for double posting

Ehh..... It sounds like a good idea, but only if you have a way to turn it on and off at different times. I mean, it'd seem a little strange if it always rained somewhere...

Post by: drenrin2120 on February 25, 2005, 08:12:01 PM
hm... true...
but places like deserts(sandstorm), arctic(snow), wouldn't seem abnormal... maybe i should just leave it. I'm not too enthusiastic about it anyways... I'll put like, an odd seagull in their every now and then! haha

I'm downloading it right now :)

The only thing I have to say by looking at the screenies on your site is that you should probably make a better "map" picture. Having everything one color dosen't look to good. Heres a way how you can make a map really easily :)

First you go to the map (in rm2k3) where you want to make your picture of. Zoom out to 1/8, and select either the upper or lower edit boxes (just not the events). Then click the editing option "select map elaments", this will make the upper and lower level tiles appear to be on the same layer. Then just take a screenshot, past it in paint, and remove everything but the map.

Then you can simply resize it, and you have a good map you can use as a picture :)

If its too big to fit in one screenshot, take multiple ones and 'put them together' in paint.

Anyway I'm looking forward to playing your game  :D

this demo is awesome! except for the forest....so confusing. Oh and if anyone else haden't noticed, there was a small problem with the beds. You could walk on the top part. I pay attention to details. Aside from that, it's cool and I learned from it too! :D

Title:
Post by: yoshara on March 01, 2005, 04:23:54 AM
oh and by the way i would like to know if you would like me to edit the battle character set of tessle to match the character set and why would you like to know what city we are in?
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on March 01, 2005, 05:06:59 PM
um, I thoguht the battlechar matched Tessle jsut fine!  :D
But if you really wouldn't mind improving it, go ahead and give it a try. I edited thep ants WAY BACK to match his pants, but that was it.

As for the cities, it's kinda like a twitch thing. U kno?

Every time I try to extract the folder to play it, it says that there's a file skipped or missing. What's going on?
Title:
Post by: yoshara on March 02, 2005, 03:58:55 AM

It'd be awesome if you could finish that!

To Fortet: hm... I'm not sure. try redownloading the zip. there may have been a mistake.

I'm just past the Moblin Talon HQ. Haven't been playing much but I'm playing it now. :D

hour_of_crisis: there we go! :D that's the kind of city! lol

Fortet: Winrar and Winzip are different unzipping programs. When you download the zip file, what pops up to unzip it? Winrar, or Winzip? because I used Winzip to zip it up.

In the Earth Temple it lags when that circle frame is put(cool btw). Isn't there a way so that it'll go smoother?
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on March 03, 2005, 02:36:29 AM
Yes, I was told by Leon(I believe)to put a "Delete Event" after the show picture to make it smoother. I haven't gotten around to testing it, but I'm sure it works.
Title: weird...
Post by: hour_of_crisis on March 03, 2005, 03:02:53 AM
When I talked to the dude in the first port( the one who says the stuff about RPG Maker at the top of the map), when he finishes talking I can't move.

That'd be my bad. I was testing  Mods, and it went horribly wrong, and I can't believe I forgot to take that guy out! sorry! I've got a lot of minor bugs... :|

BTW: I hope everyone enjoys this game for what it has to offer

Title: Demo Results
Post by: hour_of_crisis on March 05, 2005, 02:58:37 AM
Okay here are the good, the bad, and the bugs.

Good:Interesting and original plot
         Good Bloodrage system
         Very nice music
         Cool graphics

Bad:Some of the dungeons were pretty dull at some point.

Bugs: As I stated before, the dude in Southport talking about
         mods in RPG Maker.
You could walk on the top part of the blue bed inside
         houses.
In Ferrin(Second visit),when it was night and you talked to
Ursa for healing, when the screen came back it seemed like
         it was day time.
The Bloodrage timer kind of makes the game lag. If you
could fix it that would be nice!
Sometimes you would forget to change the message
display options back to normal.(i.e. After talking to Leo
(Third visit),and you went to save your game, the message
         diaplay would still be transparent.

Rating:5/5
This game was very well made and carefully made as I could tell. If you did this on your own, kudos. This game will be very good once completed and be sure that I will be one of those people playing it and enoying it! :)
