Title: What's cool about where you live?
Post by: Moosetroop11 on March 02, 2005, 04:02:38 PM
We come from all over the world, so what's great about where you live?

I live in a little known town called Tonbridge, in England. The coolest part about is the castle, which is pretty much next to the high street. It's really old and alot has been destroyed but there's still loads left and whenever there's fireworks or parades they usually involve the castle. There's also a river that runs through Tonbridge, and I used to go rowing on there quite a bit. The river also flows by the castle so that's cool. Err... Well the weather is interesting. It's a phonomenon- You look up at the sky and It's always grey! it's hardly ever cold enough for snow, but hardly ever warm enough to go outside without a coat. Boo hoo. Finally, this is where Kelly Holmes (You know, the Olympic runner) was born and she lives near here. There was a whole load of hype when she won the 800 and 1500m races and there was a parade through the high street and such.

Anyway, what's cool about where you live?

Yes, I am from Brazil, no, the coolest thing is not the Amazonas

........ around here there aren't many cool things... only the "Serra do Rio do Rastro", its a mountain where sometimes snow when its cold, maybe its not something cool to you all, but here in Brazil we dont have snow.

Cīmon Grandy, donīt do that to our beloved country.
Although Brazil obviously have itīs problems and stuff, it has unique feats...
1) No natural disasters. So, no-one dies for earthquakes, tornados, tsunamis and that stuff. Some die of hunger, but itīs not a massive killing...
2) Huge and nonending culture diversification.
3) Water all over.
4) the best feat: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN THE WHOLE FRICKIN WORLD! Now that I enjoy...
5) São Paulo: itīs not the city I live, but I work and study here. Itīs the 3rd hugest city in the world and, separated from Brazil, Itīs economy would be the same as Switzerlandīs. Itīs Brazilīs economy center, entertainment center, culture center...I love this place.
Thereīs more I guess, but I have to work...I hate it, but i do...hehehe

We in Zaandam have the "Zaanse Schans", a place where you can see  windmills and one of the first Albert Heijn stores. Nothing much, but you can also see how they make "klompen" and cheese and such.

 MY FELLOW! *hugs almeidaboo*

Yup, our country is a big and nice country, but everyone thinks here is just a giant forest, all because that DAMN episode of the Simpsons, when they come to Brazil, and all around here was snakes and violence, and trees and MONKEYS, we dont have monkeys here! They're even disappearing... poor, poor monkeys...
Title:
Post by: Moosetroop11 on March 02, 2005, 05:13:42 PM
Hmm. I want to visit Brazil some time.
Oh, and you're not alone with that Simpsons thing. There's been loads of episodes where they've taken the mick out of the Brits, Albania, France, etc. I admit when I think of Brazil I think of Rainforests, but not because of the Simpsons!

To Grandy: Well it's actually quite rare to have a castle near you. And I think Rainforests are way cooler.

To MSlash: We've been getting the first proper snow we've had in years here and It's really cool. Like I said before, It hardly ever snows here.

Uhm, you seem to be about a millenium out of date.

A funny thing about that simpsons episode is that it portrayed Brazil like that on purpose.
Apparantely, some important person (I forget who exactly) from Brazil complained that, in a vague reference on an earlier episode, "The Simpsons" treated Brazil like it was a jungle overrun by monkeys.
Being the witty people that they are, they purposely made an episode about brazil all jungly and mokeyey just to piss the guy off.

I live in a small town called Abbotsford. We have a 47th of Canada's McDonald's here.
Um, we have an extremely high amount of churches here as well.
Uh, also, it's British Columbia's fifth largest city.

For all you uneducated Americans, British Columbia is the province directly above Washington.

I live in Michigan. A city called Wyandotte, it's a horrible city, horrid, full of polish catholics that all think they're rich but in reality only have 5 figure incomes... any who....

But, the Detroit Area has some very cool stuff.
For example, the Great Lakes. That's right, while the midwest struggles to get pure water, we're wasting it away over here. The detroit river should be considered one of the great wonders of the world, just by putting your hand in it you could pull it out and have super powers.(not really, it's just nasty)

Wyandotte does have one of the best boat clubs in the country, but that's about it. We do have the DIA, (Detroit Institute of Art) it's fun to visit. Cas Corridor, one of the worst ghetto's in all of michigan (I've fed homeless people there) the true poor people of our country, not the sissy's that think they're poor. Also we pretty much have more cars and gas stations than anywhere else in the world. If you have to think about that one, you need to study up on the history of Detroit and Ford Motors. We border canada... it's not really that special though, Canada is just like a not quite as vibrant US.

Other than that though there isn't very much cool stuff...

oh, yeah, Razor, yes, there is a peice of America in Australia. In fact, there is a peice of America in almost every important country in the world. Our Embassies are considered American soil, while on them, that countries laws don't apply to our citizens (that does not make them un liable though, they then have to answer to US law) just a quick lesson.

I live in Clifton Forge, VA. The middle of nowhere--if anyone here's actually heard of it, I'd be surprised.

So obviously there's not a whole lot even remotely interesting about it... some of the people are nice (if you avoid the rednecks, extremist-conservative-Christians-who-think-Bush-can-do-nothing-wrong, criminals, and morons, that is), but, that's about it.

Well, I live in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. It's a city close to Toronto. Nothing really exciting here though. Never believe what shows make of Canada. But I LMAO when I watch them. It's not freezing here and we don't say 'eh' that much (though we do say it sometimes). Never seen an igloo or a beaver in my life so don't get started on that.

Canada's pretty cool though. 2nd to Russia in size, freshwater, there's the great lakes and there's alot of country camping goodness a 2hr drive north of here. Oh and gotta love that free hospital stuff :D.

People here sometimes think that Americans are stupid. I know many here are American and I know you're not stupid. But it's almost sad how ignorent Americans can be of Canada.

EDIT: I forgot to add, we bramptonians invented the Canadarm, yeah!!

Im from Kohala, Hawaii what i like over her is that its warm and breezy, the surf is great, the food is great, and all of my relative are from the same island.

Many people want to go to hawaii but its not as great as you see in traveling guides, if you come and you dont want to get teased or get beat up, just mind your own buissness, and drive safly(we get nuts over here if people drive stupidly), and if you see turtles on the beach or if you see ancient landmarks dont touch it many of the locals will get very mad(that counts me cause im a local).

sorry for sounding so mean but if you follow these steps you will really enjoy your stay here, ill guarantee it!!!!!
