I think if you only found out about it within the last 24 hours, it's most likely an April Fools Joke.
And, in that specific scenario, April Fools, you fool of the Aprillian variety!

If it is this unheard of until now, it'll probably fail.

I sense a repeat of what happened to N-Gage.

its not an april fools joke. ive seen the ad in a gamepro magazine. i wont buy it. its not popular enough to have the sucess of psp. and no companies will make games for it.

It is as real as a butterfly can fly. And it is said that the Gizmondo IS a PSP killer if you look at the graphics.

I'll translate a short piece of an article that was written in the Dutch games magazine "Power Unlimited":

The Gizmondo offers you the ability to send messages per e-mail, listen to music, see movies and even take pictures though you shouldn't expect miracles with the 0.3 megapixel camera. In fact, the Gizmondo can do a lot more than the PSP can. Two problems stand in the way for a success. First, for now you can't buy it anywhere, and second, the games can't stand in the shadows of what will be seen on the Nintendo DS and the PSP of Sony.

So, basically, the only reason you haven't heard of it is because the Gizmondo lacks developers.

I think it's go plummet like the N-gage too. The Ngauge was pants because you had to put it on your head to talk. I don't think mobiles and handhelds were meant to combine

Well, there's one difference. Gizmondo is NOT N-Gage, meaning, N-Gage is a phone + handheld. Gizmondo is handheld with some extras and better graphics.

I'd like to buy one too, if I had the money and if there were developers who think the Gizmondo is worthy.

It looks decent, but I'm not going to buy it. I don't see the point in buying 'hand-held' systems unless you need something to do during a 3 day car trip or something.

Uhh, thats cool, but what can you really do with a hacked handheld system? I know you can do a lot of cool stuff with a modded x-box, but a handheld?

This reminds me of the one time I took apart 3 of my n64 controllers to make one super joystick controller for starfox. But by the time I was done, I beat starfox many times  :(

The DS and PSP is way better...the DS has built in functions like Touch screen (well...you know), Microphone (yell init) and the games are quality whilst the PSP is great too but I've never played it. I still think no-one will purchase the Gizmondo...some people rumored the Gizmondo was getting a handheld version of Halo...turns out to be Sonic they get instead! (Thanks Gamer TV for the info!)

I have played the DS and I've played Super Mario 64 DS and Metroid Hunters Demo. They're mint but I never played PSP...I suppose the Gizmondo might have a good chance.

You know you shouldn't really say something about the PSP if you haven't ever played one. This Giz doesn't stand a chinace even if it was better. It doesn't haveany good support. (Like with Dreamcast)

i prefer the DS, only played a friends PSP, it seems good, but if nintendo used their tiny little brains and  MADE  a game, instead of all these ports (i am lookin forward to FF3 however) they could stand a real chane against PSP, and yes i do know about the castlevania(also looking forward to it) in the making.

He has no arms and legs. The magic of cheese holds them afloat.

Who knows, perhaps Gizmondo could be the representative of Microsoft in the handheld game. They ARE making games for it, according to that article.

microsoft?

people say they are the best because of halo... one series, i can imagine millions would buy this N-Gage 2 because halo is on it *pukes*
Title:
Post by: Osmose on April 09, 2005, 04:38:51 PM
No... I like the Xbox because it has cool games on it. I also like the PS2 (but don't have it) because it has good games.

What I meant was that just the fact Microsoft is there will be a statement to other gaming companies about their interest in it.

Arm + leg joints are difficult to animate, I guess. Maybe they wanted to cut a few corners.

Gizmondo is a late comer to these supah-handhelds, so it might fail miserably. Or it might not. What do I know?

They are Legends, Squaresoft made then legend in my book, but hey, they are going down fast, really fast nintendo will die and you all will get over it. PS has better graphics and better games.

I agree that DS has quirky 3D graphics. Looks like N64. Now which is it that has that Castlevania game, PSP or DS?
Title:
Post by: Omegadestroyer7 on April 10, 2005, 11:35:03 AM
on the DS, supposed to be a sequel to aria of sorrow(the one with soma, i think that is his name.(still 2d, like it should be)

Release: 9/26/05
see screens  here (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/castlevania/screenindex.html)

PRO: play on the bottom screen with a map on the top screen
CON: to appeal to younger audiences, a lighter style of art is applied... oh well.

to both of you, nintendo HAS done a horrible thing, but they made it look worse than it is by making all of the launch games ports or dating sims, more ports ahead... *sigh*

Get a Gamecube game?! Blsaphemy!

Also, Gamecube doesn't have Jet Set Radio, nor does it have the first Sonic Adventure, nor does it have the large amount of other great games for Dreamcast.

And Nintendo died in my heart when they had a ruined Castlevania on their console. 3d Castlevania is not meant to be.

uhhhh... i think the gamecube does have the first sonic adventure, and someone complained that i based my opinion of sonic on one game, but you base your opinion of a game company on a single game... as if PS2 doesnt have lament of innocence, do you hate sony too?

whats wrong with gamecube???
Title:
Post by: Rune_of_Punishment on April 10, 2005, 08:48:04 PM
The Gamecube does have the first Sonic Adventure. It has the original version then there's Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. I prefer the Director's cut because it is the same game, but with better graphics and mission mode.

Also, GameCube has Tales of Symphonia. PS2 will have it soon, but GameCube has it now. ToS rules all.
Title: WHAT!?!?!?

P.S. where can i get the rest of the tales series, i always wanted to play them...
Title:

Actually, the other three (ToP, ToD, ToDII/ToE) are all on PSX.

As for the Gizmondo... no. I mean, look at the name - Gizmondo is almost as bad as PlayStation.
Title:
Post by: Osmose on April 10, 2005, 10:30:55 PM
Meaning it's a legend in it's own right?

And I hate the Gamecube because it sucks, regardless of whether it has games or not.
Title:
Post by: DragonBlaze on April 11, 2005, 12:15:30 AM
I hope Gizmondo dies...

The more game systems there are out there, the more games will be spread out between systems. For example, if the x-box never came out, there'd be a halo for the ps2 (although probably not as good). If there was a system that had halo and final fantasy games  :jumpin:

Nintendo used to be good back when it had super nintendo, but when they came out with the 64, it didn't have nearly the amount of power of the playstation. While a 64 game was 6 mbs, a ps game was 600 mbs, the games could be made so much better for the psx that not many companies wanted to make their games for the 64. For example, megaman and final fantasy were two series that were on the super nintendo, but switched over to the playstation.
Title:
Post by: Omegadestroyer7 on April 11, 2005, 04:02:10 AM
i agree with dragon: if the n64 used discs, they might not be in such a mess right now, i hate XBox for the suckie controller, even the smaller one is annoying, its like they didnt even think of where to put buttons, and there are too many of them, but the hard drive thing is cool.
Title:
Post by: smokey_locs2002 on April 11, 2005, 08:32:19 PM
There was an X-box game called Malice, I think, it was suppose to be the first game to come out on X-Box to show all that the X-Box can do, but they stopped making the game, forgot why, but what''s really crazy is that they decided to keep making the game but here's the crazy part...It's only comming out on PS2 O_O
*cough*

Wow, that doesn't make much sence. If they were going to show off all the stuff the x-box could do, putting it out on the ps2 isn't too smart since the x-box is more powerfull. Plus that project must have been abandoned for a long time, I wonder why they want to start making it again.

Although the x-box is more powerful than the ps2, the ps2 has a greater variety of good games. Halo and Fable are probably one of the few good games that only the x-box has thats worth buying. Then again, you can mod your x-box to play ps2 games...

Anyway, even if this new system is a ton more powerfull than the psp and nds, it won't make a differance unless good games are made for it. I forgot what it was, but some system (jaguar maybe) came out sometime around when the nintendo came out, the jaguar blew everything else away, but it died because companies didn't make any games for it.

well, i lloked at that list of what gizmondo cand do... it is heading for N-Gage land fast with no way back, this is the only place i have even heard about it, maybe they should advertise a little, and it doesnt have any "mascot" characters to back it up (mario, samus, link, dante, samanoske, blinx *ugh*, master chief, and fable-dude) represent their systems and show off what it can do. this new thing, unless it is microsoft, or nintendos secret rehash at a good portable... has nothing, and will have a hard time starting out.
Title:
Post by: Osmose on April 12, 2005, 10:40:32 AM
You can't mod your Xbox to play PS2 games. Last time I checked, no one had made a PS2 emulator for Windows CE.

I like Xbox's controller. A controller with too many buttons is the gamecube. Dear lord, there's like four or five, but I can't find half of them on that crazy thing.

And if you want to see the power of Xbox, play Ninja Gaiden. The graphics were AMAZING, as well as the gameplay.

Malice went through Developing Hell.
What is Developing Hell?
Well, does anyone remember that new Duke Nukem Title that was suppose to come to surface? Duke Nukem Forever? Yes, well, that's currently occupying Hell.

According to HYPER>>, the most noted sufferer was an old game called Daikatana (possible sp). It was in DH for 4-5 years. When it finally came out, the "great" graphics were terribly dated, and it was just a mockery game.
