Title: Something I've been working on...
Post by: Majin Deathshade on January 31, 2006, 04:22:43 AM
Tell me what you think of this first one!  I did enlarge Umaro, in order to give the impression of a real yeti, and I added some Condition type graphics, but it's still the same FF6 Yeti!  Tell me if you like it:

Well, the resizing job isn't the greatest. He is resized heightwise more than widthwise, and it looks kind of pixelly (if you know what I mean). I would recommend using the original sprites, then resizing them in the maker itself - it might help them to look better.
The animations are sort of low-quality, but they look okay. Are they custom-made?

Explanation:

Green Circle with Diamond Shapes = Mirror Status.  Bounces enemy skills back.

Purple Elipse with rising Lines = Skill Use.

Red Elipse with six point star = Magic Use.

Red Cross with Green Outline = Recovery Status.  Gradually recovers HP.

Large Yellow X = Blink Status.  Maxed out Evasion.

Arrow Pointing Down = Can be used for Reduced Stats.

Three Greenish Clouds = Fear.  Disables Skills.

Speech Bubble with dots = Mute.

Gray, White, Brown, & Black Orbs = Berserk.

Green, Red, Yellow, & Blue Orbs = Confused.

Arrow Pointing up = Can be used for Raised Stats.

Three Zs = Sleep.

Small Black X = Blind.

Green Umaro = Poison.

Gray Umaro = Petrified.

The Rest of the Images = Various Movements.

NOTE: It took me a while to do this, because I'm not very good at Sprite Editing.  Umaro is the property of Square Enix, but the rest of the Images were custom made by me.  If you don't like this, then I challenge you to see if you can do better.  Even though my artwork is quite abstract, I am proud of what I've done so far.  Feedback is appreciated, as long as it doesn't involve the smileys that shoot at me.  Have a nice day.

XDDDD

It's not bad, the resizing isn't bad but could be better. Basically, use Warxe's helpful tips.

The resizing really sucks, and the looks of the "shell" and "wall" and etc really don't go with the FF3/FF6 look of things. Looks too.... cartoony.
