Ripped from Zelda: links awakening. I think I ll rip more zelda resources...
-
Not bad. I like 'em.
-
tanks
-
Hehe I just hate the colours of the old systems, maybe those would look alot better revamped?
Hmm, if I got some time I´ll see what I can do.
-
now i think i ll rip minish cap things, because they look really better.
-
are them good? And about the other monsters from TLoZ:TMC... They are to big! Dont fit in 2k3's template. So, there is not much to rip.
-
hey-hey-hey-hey-hey...I don't get it, how do you rip? *raises brow in confusion* :|
-
open the rom, give print screen and using ms paint i erase the background, so i put the chars in a template. ;)
-
the rom? you mean a game downloaded off the internet onto your computer? but aren't roms illegal? and at that wouldn't that make ripping illegal?
-
Yeah, roms are generally illegal, but I don't see why that would also mean ripping is.
-
Emulators are not illegal - they simply emulate a certain type of processor. Commercial roms ARE illegal. They are copies of games that you normally have to pay for.
The idea is that any person with morals is simply making a personal backup of their game(something that is legal) and then taking the graphics out of them after playing their backup with an emulator. There's no precedent for whether graphics from a videogame are illegal to have, so we have no reason to call foul.
At least that's the idea.
-
And when Moose says "personal" he means personal. f you didn't copy the rom, it's illegal.

I see....hmm...well, I'm thinking (THINKING, keep it in mind) of making a castlevania rpg, so I'm going to need some rips from aria/dawn of sorrow, and maybe harmony of dissonance. I'll need help though. how do you find an emulator? :x do you just search for 'CV emulator' or something on google or what? :blue-eye:
-
The colour looks a little off in the first one... or perhaps the Links awakening really wasn't as graphically sophisticated as my optimistically flawed memory would have it. Good work regardless.

Pretty good there, Os. But not quite perfect
Let me quote a passage from the user manual from most any game in my collection (well over 100 games). This one's from RE4:
Copying of any video game for any Nintendo system is illegal and strictly prohibited by domestic and international intellectual laws. "Back-up" or "archival" copies are not authorized and are not necessary to protect your software.
We clear here?
EDIT: Not saying ripped sprites are off limits (they may be, but I don't care to Czech right now. Matter of fact, this might be aimed a little more towards ZKX's "ROMs legal only if you make it yourself" thing. Whatever.
-
hey, its not ilegal if you have the original game. I guess. And i have link's awakening. About the minish cap... well..........
-
I liked the LA rips. Good job.
-
It's an iffy subject, but the way I see it is this: Atari sued a company in the 80s about a backup device and won, establishing a legal standard in the US that, supposedly, backups are illegal. There are a few problems with this, namely that:
1.The ruling itself stated that ROM copies were not applicable under the US law because they were not as volatile as the magnetic media the law was created for. However, it did not say that making backups of ROMs were illegal, but that it was more up to the manufacturer. This leads to...
2.The notification in the instruction manual is a very iffy way of notifying the customer and does not necessarily constitute a legal contract requiring you to follow it.
Add to this that a number of countries outside of the US allow the copying over modern ROMs as backups and you get a very messy legal situation that Charas doesn't need to worry about. We deal with sprites, and unless someone starts complaining, we're going to keep doing it like all the other thousand or so sites with sprites.

What about this one? Is it good?
-

Hm, similar to how downloading MP3's from videogames isn't illegal unless you don't have the game/sound track. well glad I own copy's of. . . . . Valkyrie profile, final fantasy 7, lunar silverstar and eternal blue, armored core, disgaea, and many others :D
Anyways, I like the rips, but I'll stop clattering up this thread with messages now. sorry, I'll shut up now. _sweat_
