Title: Knight's Journey 2
Post by: loftyD on August 22, 2007, 02:51:26 PM
Although its now final, I havent had the time to test it out. So if someone is willing to give a rating on it + some criticisms, that would be most helpful.

FAQ:

Q. Why haven't you posted in Knight's Journey 1?
A. Because it is awful.

Q. Whats the story/plot?
A. You're a young knight called Sam. In KJ1, you defeated the Evil Lord Sidon and now his soldiers are appearing out of nowhere. You must go and free the country of skeletons.

Q. I get stuck in Thorneborough Passage!
A. Speak to the signpost inside the cave and it will give you a clue. It's not hard at all really!

Q. I was wondering is there going to be a 3rd game?
A. Yes. That is in production now!

Any other issues with the game, please reply here. I will not answer emails.

Thanks

I played through it in alittle less than an hour.  That's bad.

Where to start...

Graphics : 2/5, the entire game was RTP.  nothing had natural shape, the style was inconsistent.  I was walking around and I saw tiny trees at my feet.  walk alittle further and there's a few tiny buildings, walk alittle further and there's a regular sized building.  There were no walls, just bricks in the way of me.  The king seemed to fall in a hole and die at the end, literally.  I'm raising the score a bit because while graphics were hardly done, they weren't overdone as they are in many games.

Sound : 3/5, Again, all RTP except for two songs.  These songs were, enjoyable, atleast.  There was nothing indicating what was boss and what wasn't.  The sound effects were consistent.

Gameplay : 2.5/5, It's generic.  Maps are pretty bad, sound was ok enough, battles were much too easy.  I went through a door at one point and came out inside a wall.  The world seemed flat; completely 2D.  I often found myself climbing a ladder up over a river to the next area.  It just, bugged me.

Story : 1/5, There was none."GO KILL SKELETONS!" "KAY!"  That was mostly it on story.

Fun : 2.5/5 It was simple and lazilly done, but it was a pretty good way to kill alittle less than an hour.

Overall (Not based on above) 2.5/5, As I said, it's very generic, but how short it was made that a bit better.  It has little to no replayability value.  The graphics are bad, the story isn't there, the sound was good, it was fun enough regardless.  I'm guessing this is your first real try at making a game?

First time making a game. KJ1 would have been in the 0's!

^ Thanks for rating the game though. Also did you go to the unlocked areas of the game. There is RTP/My creation Tileset there.

KJ3 {which is in production now } is better.

basic plot: At the start of the game you are training in a cave. Your ninja friend 'Hwasha' tells you that the Monster Slayer Training House Leader has left the town. You decide to enter the competition to be the new leader and you win. You then battle different people who have monsters with them.

{If you don't understand, think about it like this. On pokemon you get pokemon gyms. they equal to the Monster Slayer Training House on this game. }

However a group of people called Team Quake come to invade the country and so you must stop them. A man named Allan {You see him in KJ2 and in the contest in KJ3} helps you get around the country.

There will be quite some noticeable changes:

Sam's Level's increase
You can save the game where you like
New CharSets {Created by Charas - Generator }

Thanks again 4 rating.

A small sugestion:
why you have to stop the team quake? this is how most of games fail... i mean, what would be the reason for stoping it? it is the right thing to do, or they killed my parents are too much used, so dont use it :D

Agreed.  a motive for fighting someone, a GOOD one anyway, is a personal battle with them, such as they caused something in your past to hurt you DIRECTLY (AE, tried to kill you) or they've been toying with you for some period of your life and you're angry about it.  I always prefer darker heroes though, so this is probably just me.

Well you only see them twice in the game... But what other 'thing' could i have in the game. The game would be tremendously boring if you are going to be couped up in a building fighting people!

how about this... You killed someone in this town that was related to your ninja friend?  Everyone hates you and your ninja friend didnt know it was you. He tries to kill you...

Yeah, it sort of is. You kill your friends friend, he doesn't know, but tries to kill you anyways.
