Title: First Charas Sprite-Off Rules and Sign-up

So, as I've mentioned before (http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=23349.0), we will be holding the first ever Charas Sprite Off.

The rules are fairly simple:

• Everyone who signs up will be paired off with another opponent.
• After every pair has been made, an overall theme for the round will be given and a deadline will be announced.
• Each person will make a sprite based off of this theme. There are no restrictions on size, color, or anything. Do whatever you want. There is no specific format or anything beyond a theme.
• Once the deadline has been reached (Usually two or three days following the start) each pair will be given a voting thread. People will cast votes for which of the two sprites they like better. This will go on until a deadline of about two days is hit.
• Winners advance to the next round, and are paired up with someone else who also won the last round.
• The process repeats until one winner emerges.
• If a deadline is not met for submitting a sprite you are automatically disqualified.
• In the case of odd numbers of people, one unlucky group may get three entries instead of two. You'll just have to deal with it.
• Anyone, including staff members, may enter.
• No generated resources will be tolerated. Templates are highly discouraged, but not disallowed. It makes your sprites look unoriginal and crappy anyway.
  

The winner will get a shiny new badge to show that they are the best spriter on Charas, bragging rights, and possibly other goodies if we can think of them.

Oh yes, Signups end Monday July 28th at 12 Noon EST. If you cannot find this before then than you won't be able to follow the schedule for the contest anyway. :P

Sign me up. Unless I am paired with someone who is really bad, I will lose. But yeah, I am in this for fun, not fame. Well, actually I say that just to look cool. I am in it for the fame of being charas's best spriter.

So... by what I understand from the rules, the sprites don't have to be 100% custom and they can have been already made so long as they follow the theme?

No, they cannot be pre-made.
