Title: For We Have Been Abandoned By The Gods
Post by: Drace on October 07, 2008, 10:38:22 AM
"This is the darkest night I have seen in a while. Do you think we might survive this one?"

"I don't know. I have heard the howling the beasts already. They are probably hunting for us again."

The first man sighs, for have he not stopped the coming of the end when he had the change, he would not have been here. All those memories still flash in his mind.

"Listen, Heirald, we might still survive this. We might still make it out alive."

Heirald, the first man who spoke this night, sighs again. "Miles to go Jackson. Miles to go."

"I know, I know. But if we give up, then none of our them will survive."

Heirald looks behind him, seeing two dozen or so people following their every move. Sure, they have saved them so far, but to what extend? To be devoured by the beasts later on? Or to be saved? He does not know. Seeing in the future or even predicting what might happen was not always his best skills, for otherwise he would not have ended up unleashing the end. Another sigh leaves Heirald, for what else can he do at this moment. As Another night falls upon them and for again will they have to shelter away during their long and tiresome journey. Where they go, who knows. No one of the group even knows if there is even a world left. But giving up is no option.

Jackson stops in his tracks and turns around, looking at the ones they lead. Sure, they are not weaklings, but they are unknowing. And that is why only Jackson and Heirald lead the men. "Ok guys, another night is falling upon us. For now we have survived all twelve nights that came and went without losing one of us. The first place we can shelter in that we find, we hide in untill dawn. We cannot survive this night alone, for we have been abandoned by the gods."

"Finally", Rick sighed. He finally knew the answer to that universal question.

He picked his hand out of the mud and frowned. Hell was slightly different to what he'd been told. Tales had warned of a devil that took you and punished you for all of your sins, but this place was just... empty. The sky was black and swirled menacingly, as if forever about to unleash a terrible storm. The ground was tortured and no grass dared poke it's head above the surface.

Rick slowly decided that his entire body was hurting. It hadn't occurred to him at first, or had been masked by the hunger and thirst, but his bones and skin were somewhere between a dull ache and agony. he felt as though he had cuts all over his dirt caked arms. Breathing in heavily and rolling onto his stomach, he gazed down at them and realised that he did.

At that moment, he heard a voice cut the midnight air like a dagger. He craned his neck to try and make out the speaker.

"We cannot survive this night alone, for we have been abandoned by the gods."

A loud shriek scourges through the sky, ripping apart every thought of every single survivor with a terror that is unthinkable of. A shriek of the dead, as you might call it. A sign the night has started, a sign that they are searching for anything that is still alive. Fear strikes all eyes. Fear, that no one can describe.

Heirald looks around him, to the left, to the right, behind the group, above the group. "Where the hell did that sound come from?"

"It sounded close by..." Jackson replies, also searching the area with fear written all over his face.

The men behind them do not know what is going on, only that they need, and I mean need, to be afraid. One collapses through his knees, one grabs his cross and prays to his god. But all, they look around to search for whatever let loose the sound of the dead.

Rick crawled forward on his arms and knees. The noise had sent a shiver down his spine. It was the same that had haunted him in his dreams before he had finally awoken. He didn't want to be alone.

"Wait!" He tried to cry to the group of people. His mouth was dry. The case attatched to a strap around his neck weighed him down.
