Title: Hell Angel's Midis
Post by: Hell Angel on October 20, 2008, 10:18:45 PM
Welcome to my MIDI gallery. C&C welcome and appreciated.

-------------------------------------

Swashbucklers. (http://www.box.net/shared/dxxi1ggjh3) *new*
- On board the Drunken Sailor, you hitch a ride with the scurviest dogs in the sea. It's going to be a long ride, so try not to upset them.

Final Dungeon. (http://www.box.net/shared/62ve35fxcp) *new*
- This is it. After collecting all of those magical gems of lore (to have the strength), all of those sacred hidden keys (to unlock the front door), and all of the elemental talismans (to drop the barrier inside), you've finally made it to the terribly cliche final dungeon... Beyond here lies either victory or defeat.

Clock Tower. (http://www.box.net/shared/0iavujlln6) *new*
- Complete with perfectly timed ticks and tocks, you enter a Clock Tower. The hammering clockwork and rickety stairs put you on edge as you start to scale the tower.

Steampunk. (http://www.box.net/shared/fumlcoyq2g) *new*
- After completing this piece it was very challenging to think up a theme for it, let alone a name, but after being convinced by Fruckert that it somewhat suited a Steampunk setting, I decided to name it just that.

Curious Owl. (http://www.box.net/shared/xj8p46ppes) *new*
- Upon entering a forest, you are startled by a curious owl staring vividly at you. As you make your way through the forest, you are constantly met yet again with the owl's gaping, curious eyes.

Broken Trust. (http://www.box.net/shared/4r0yfh7kgc)
- After making your escape from being cornered and having your closest ally turn on you and leave you vulnerable to the enemy forces, you make your way back to safe ground. Reflecting on the situation you realize there is no one else to help you. No one else to trust.

Carnival! (http://www.box.net/shared/f7avy1cg0r)
- The Carnival is in town, so you and your friends split up and make your way through the games and the sights. The ring toss, the bearded lady, the stomach-destroying food, what a day!

City Streets. (http://www.box.net/shared/a18feskz71)
- The sun sets and the moon takes the sky, the city grows quiet, but you decide a walk through the city streets would be a fitting conclusion to the day you had. You enjoy the time to yourself and the charms of the city that can only be truly seen under moonlight.

Crystal Caves. (http://www.box.net/shared/94a8vvyyl5)
- As you scale a tall and bitter icy mountain, you come across a frozen cave and find yourself taking a moment to rest and search the cold but beautifully sparkling caves.

Dilapidated Port. (http://www.box.net/shared/0mpicmyr2v)
- The port town has been attacked and mostly destroyed. When you arrive, the townsfolk lay across the streets, mourning their losses and counting their lack of blessing. Wrecked homes and broken docks are all that remain.

Ol' Fishing Hole. (http://www.box.net/shared/4ib7v0y892)
- With your fishing pole at hand and straw hat at head, you give fishing a try and finally realize the relaxing rewarding nature of the sport... try not to fall asleep.

Into the Jungle. (http://www.box.net/shared/hf7iuxa6pj)
- A jungle of massive size lies ahead, filled to the brim with tree and bush and beast. Don't forget your machete, as navigation without it could be impossible.

Resolve. (http://www.box.net/shared/gpc84ilg0s)
- Despite everything always feeling like a trip right back into the hole, you've finally started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Through all of your hard work and dedication, you've deserved this little shimmering light...

Mysterious Man. (http://www.box.net/shared/cogvljz5nf)
- A man enters the room, who is undeniably and unforgettably... mysterious.

Village A. (http://www.box.net/shared/7y64lzv5ij)
Village B. (http://www.box.net/shared/2rpt7b4y6u)
Village C. (http://www.box.net/shared/7o2qk2c8cc)
-Three town themes in order from oldest to newest, and probably worst to best.

I love how ambient your MIDIs are, as you already know. Rather than using distinct melodies, you create great atmospheres. Keep up the good work. I love it. :)

Wow, you make very good midis. Like CK said, you're midis are very ambient and tone/mood setting. I've always had a problem with that. I can never just write something simple or without a melody, my midis can get "in your face" a litle too much, it's hard for me to stray from that habit. But these are all good, I especially love Exiled and Shipwreck.

Frickin' yeah. Both of you guys were pretty big inspirations for me, a while back. Getting a pretty big hunch of pride, from the compliments here. Thanks a bunch guys.

Buried forest and Haunted House are impressive! As they said before me the atmosphere you create is very good, and moreover the midis are simple but they sound very nice like a good RPG midi (I can't express it exactly but they've got...feeling) Thanks a lot for your works
The Misty town is the midi I most like, I just learned it with my flute (and now I've got it all day in my mind)
I hope to see more soon.

Like I told you on msn, I aint very good at criticising music as I am not much of a musician myself, but damn, those midis are awesome.

Wow, you improve pretty fast, the other midis are good, but those are just awesome. You really rock!
Misty town still my fav because it looks like a ff midi to me.

So I just listened to all of them. While I am too lazy to comment about every single one, I will say overall they were very good. Great for setting moods. The names/descriptions you gave to them suit them well. They remind me of good ol' classic RPGs. Those that stood out to me: Shipwreck, Reflection, The Masquerade.

This is very well presented, what with the bold and *new* and all.

I'll give some of these a listen to when I get home tomorrow. Right now I'm at a computer with no speakers. :(

lol misty town reminds me of gucci mane's freaky girl because of the tinkle.
it's really good man!!
do you ever go out of midis and mess with programs like fruityloops?

VulcanRaven shite, you haven't been around here in a long time.

But yeah -- I tried Fruity Loops and stuff like Cubase, but just couldn't get the hang of them. Felt like too much extra work and, well... I'm lazy. So then, instead, I tried Sound Fonts (if anyone knows what those are) and... I still didn't feel right with them.

If I ever do decide to up my quality to MP3, it will probably be with Sound Fonts, though. For now, at least.

I skimmed through a few and I have to say, I'm impressed.  Reminds me alot of Lufia or some such.  Maybe even alittle of the music from Lands of Lore.  Trust me, that's a huge compliment. ;P  Keep in mind I have a bit of experience in composing too, so I know how difficult this must've been xD

Wordless (I think that's the word)
When I hear your songs I really want to start a project and build a place for every midi.
Now my internet came back I'll try as well to improve myself if I can.

Thanks Domi. I've never really played either of those games, but I'll take your word for it. ~

Thanks again, Ferk! That means a lot, and if my Midis inspire you, man, then my job is done. =P  Also, I think the word you're looking for is 'speechless.'

I love the dwarven ones, those are absolutely perfect
The pirate ship one is phenomenal too, perfectly captures the feel
I believe I've already told you how I thought of Gypsy Merchants

Good work, as always

Wow, man, you've improved so much! I just listened to Miner's Cave and it's great. I love what you did with the instruments. I'll listen to more when I get the time. Great job on that one! You're making me want to get back into this more than ever. :P

Hey you're back! I thought you left. how you doing man? I missed you.
Oh hey we need to talk about the music you were going to make for Warped. I kinda lost it all when I got a new computer deleted it while transfering it to my new computer so I lost all your music. :(

Hey, Fish.

I held on to those files, for sure -- But they're on another computer. I'll have to ask my girlfriend to send them over and I'll get them to you.

Thanks man. :) That one battle theme was preticuly catchy and I somtimes sing it out loud. Do you still want to make some tracks for Warped? You don't have to.

These are all great! You've really got talent, big time. I'd use these in any game for sure.

I love the Haunted House theme, and I'm not sure why. It's only a minute long, but for some reason I just dig it.

I actually got him to do music for me once... But I screwed up and never finished that game. Its like... I got one of the best midi makers out there to do stuff for me and bam! I dont anymore. :P

As always your midis have your personal style and that makes them even cooler. I think I didn't see the Haunted House theme last time, but now it haunted me. As always, Good job.

Those are awesome as always man. Keep up the good work and all that. :P

You should make some battle stuff. Here's an idea: Epic battle against zombies. But not like "OMG Damn it they are going to kill me!". Make it like, "Time to kick some zombie ***. Hell yeah!".
xD

I haven't heard the Town ones yet.
I personally think B was the strongest.
C was too repetitive and long.
And A wasn't that memorable to me.

Broken Trust: When it looked like the song was at it's end it revived with an impressive strenght and an AWESOME ending. Very good job.
The other midi I liked was carnival, it was very catchy to me like if it had it's own athmosphere.
Hope to hear more soon, good job!

No I haven't. In fact you Jungle theme is perfect for my Sith Temple XD I guess I'll have to update Warped so every body knows it's still there, but right now the MCG is taking all of my time other than ocasioanly working on a crappy RPG for fun. Hey did you ever fnd that one battle theme you gave me the first time? The Wondering Duelist or somthing. It was real cathy and fast paced and such.

WOW this is all really good! Most of the time video game music is so limited and people see that as a hinderance but you managed to turn those limits into art! Very nicely done. I'm new here and just trying to get my footing. I love games and want to make one just at the moment i have the major problem of not knowing how to sprite... I'll be looking forward to you putting more stuff up!

Yay! More midis! =)

You're very good at writing songs that create atmosphere for dungeons, towns, cities, places, etc. I'm very jealous, these kinds of songs/themes can be really tough to do. I really like the work you do, keep it up!
