- The theme for this round is: CREATURES FROM OUTER SPACE. This can be anything from spaceships to green men from mars.
- When you are finished with your entry, you must pm it to me by Sunday, July 5th, 8AM, Charas Time.
- Don't know how to upload it? Use imageshack (http://imageshack.us/) or photobucket (http://photobucket.com/).
- Your sprite must be made specifically for this challenge. No previous made sprites may be used
- When all entries are sent, voting will begin
Restrictions for this round
Size limits: Min: 15x15 Max: 150x150
Max number of colors: 32 including background
Background must be a solid color not used on the image
The image must be saved as .png. After all, this is a RPG Maker contest, and RM won't support other extensions.

I think it is just any kind of sprite, like in the last sprite off. Here's an example from the last one...

yes, banned.

I'm going to assume that photoshop effects are banned, because you can use the pencil tool with a brush of one pixel to sprite.
Which is what I do whenever I need to edit something.

Yeah even photoshop is used vastly in the pixel art community. i specially use it for the color replacement edit that can easily help you gain the best out of your sprite.
Besides obvious filler effects/shadows and aa, how could people know you use photoshop?

Well, the colour count is a big give away.
In theory, theres no way to know 100%, but i mean, things like dithering and antialiasing when done by hand, as opposed to being done by tools, is a bit on the obvious side.
Its another thing to edit your colours with PS, or something similar.
But I mean, If you are doing pixel art, for the sake of doing REAL pixel art, cheating is kind of stupid. Like cheating at solitare.

Actually I am withdrawing. This week got busy, and yesterday my only free day I spent it on watching a;; episodes of K-on! ._.
I have the sprite made up to the point of basic colors but I have stuff to do tonight and it might rail til late.
So I'll just update my gallery whenever I am done with it.

You can just submit a half done piece and hope there is someone with a worse one, so you can make a better one in the next round, or something. Its worth trying.

Yeah. don't worry about it Val. This was my first time making a monster sprite, and I think it turned out alright. If I can do it, you can too (and probably better).

I can't really think of anything, I've been involved in summer school, and Halo3, and my own RPG maker project, and My friends RPg maker project. So I'll be dropping out.

Submitted mine. I was doing something else all evening and suddenly remembered I had to finish it...but I did it. Probably should've spent more time on it, but this space-alien theme's a tad foreign to me.

On a related note, in the "three-way," I voted for HTML, but I'd like to point out that my art teachers would give his a "D" for composition. That poor alien looks awful cramped in its pixel box.

I will say in the three-way, it was really tough! HTML's was most badass, but I liked Uberpwn's a lot, too! It was a really close one.
I also agree with Val about Jet's luck. His was good - blew mine away. But now I know what I'm up against should I win.

HTML's has a lot more going on than Uber's but if anything I think that detracts from the sprite, especially being so cramped.

When I thought alien I thought Alien (movie) and Frieza. And tentacles. Lots of tentacles.
But I went with a tail instead.
...Because the tentacles wouldn't fit in the box. They were big slicky sticky tentacles.

I myself think HTML's has too much going on, and is not clean enough. Uber's is a bit more simple, but is still pretty cool. Jet's is also good, but since he only had one vote and uber had a couple votes, I realized jet would lose anyway so I voted uber.

No offense Val, but her spriting skill makes me see her more of a guy. I don't think I've met a female with such skill, at least not forum wise, and naturally my brains draws her out as a guy. It also seems her text persona is a bit of a tomboy (at least that's how I see it). In fact sometimes I can't tell Val and Felix apart, because I noticed they both have around the same text speech.

Actually, I'm kinda partial here. Dunno if Felix fits as Val's doppel, but in ways fits as like some alternate reality JeT where he's not shooting everybody.
Hobo's doppelganger would HAVE to be Dedlely, and mine might be Fish (though he says I'm like an EVIL twin ;_;). Dunno about the others though. HTML is hard to say, he's too zany at times to compare to most people. XD

Honestly, I'm not sure WHO is more the doppelganger. There's also JeT who tries to be the greater Master of Chaos, and there's Fish and I who both use sabers and bear crosses on our characters. And then there's you who gets some flak for various little things like I do at times.

That too. XD there is also the rare occasion that I use XS (which I have an edited smiley to represent on Windows Live) for those "Very funny but WTF?" moments. I do at times do these too: ^_^ ^w^ and some others, but that's usually on MSN, and has become a chat habit.
