The way I see it, any webcomic with full color, animation, and some pretty sick music is about as classy as it gets.

Everyone else:

Takes a while to get going, but it gets extremely interesting when it does.

Those of you who do not follow MSPA are officially missing out on pretty much the best thing on the internet.

It's true. Best thing ever happened just recently. Out of context its nice to look at but wouldn't be nearly as good.

Sai'Kar, thank you. Thank you for introducing me to MS Paint Adventures. This is awesome.

If but one person partakes in this awesomeness while it is occurring, I have done my duty. Quite welcome.

I'm fighting down the urge to make Homestuck sprites. They'd be totally useless, but I kind of want to do it anyway.

Oh, this.  I tinkered with it for a few minutes before.  Lost interest.
Well, that sucks, because it gets REALLY interestin.

I'm contemplating designing this into an actual engine, because it sounds like an oddly good game, especially seeing as most of the mechanics are actually laid out.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on November 11, 2009, 01:43:06 AM
The thing about MSAP is, while a lot of the beginning is boring and slow, the later part contains some of the sickest animations I've ever seen and generally blow every other webcomic out of the water. But they only make sense in context - there's no real way to show someone a MSPA animation if they're not keeping up with the story and have it mean anything to them. So I'd strongly recommend you slog through all the nonsense at the beginning so you can reap the rewards later on.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: fruckert on November 11, 2009, 10:38:58 AM
After the first chapter it REALLY picks up.
Probably some of the best story telling I've seen in a webcomic.

Also, I haven't really checked much out besides Homestuck...are the others any good?
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on November 11, 2009, 11:41:25 AM
Problem Sleuth is Homestuck-ish in the sense that it takes a while to get rolling, though I found the beginning more entertaining. Also has very cool ending scenes.

The other two are just flat terrible though.

She's been mine since day one. It seems like she's only in the story to make things more random and confusing. She doesn't really do anything other than weird stupid crap. The whole dreambot thing was the last straw.

Bed the ultrapuppy is cool though.

They released some new music. I'm probably going to buy it out of general support for what's easily the best webcomic ever. The full version of Upward Movement (Dave Owns) is one of the most epic tracks I've ever heard period.

I FEEL FIT TO MENTION THAT THE LATEST ALBUM (http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/album/homestuck-vol-5) IS ABSOLUTELY kind of ok.
I don't know, I just don't like the songs in it as much as I thought that I would.

Still, 3 hours worth of music for 14 bucks is kind of a good deal.

Yeah I think this bunch of techno remixes and unused original music showed me that it's the animations and music that make Homestuck so awesome. The music, by itself, isn't all that amazing. I liked a small number of the remixes but a ton were flat, boring, repetitive, and showed no real skill. Not buying this album.

I'm only annoyed with the endless Trollian chats. I mean, I like reading these things, but I'd prefer if they were broken up into two or three pages. I seem to be a bit too pre-occupied to sit and read a whole entry without taking a break these days, so it's a real inconvenience.

After you download it, double click on the run.cmd file.
Once the window is up, it'll also run in the tray, so you can close the main window.
The buttons should be pretty easy to figure out.

chumHandles have to be in camelCase, just as in the comic. The little [c] button next to the "My chumHandle" is the colour selector.
You're going to have to add people in order to talk to them, of course.
There's a big repository at here (http://mspa.wikia.com/Pesterchum/Fans), as well as the first half of that link.

Unfortunately, I don't think Andrew uses it.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on September 04, 2010, 12:12:26 AM
What, the end being here? Yeah, pretty much. The only one of the trolls I ever liked was Karkat, and I liked him before this entire arc. He has that incredibly bitter frustrated thing going on that's so hilarious. The rest of this month or so feels like it was spent throwing new characters at us, trying to explain that they have VERY DIFFERENT ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS (even though they're just basically lust, deep love, casual friendship, and long-term friendship, but hey, it's alien and we're not supposed to understand or some BS) in an already-too-complicated storyline with tons of other characters.

But mostly I just liked this webcomic more when it was about the kids. John's clueness and his worries about his dad, Rose's sass and bizarre house and her forest fire, Dave's attitude and his downtown pad, even Jade's quirkiness and weird volcanic island. It feels like the trolls mostly just ended up reusing some of the better quirks from the first four kids. Especially Jade, her personality got ripped apart and turned into like 4 of the girl trolls. I wanted to get back to the characters I care bout, not these ***hole trolls that just sort of like being jerks. I mean, come on, that shtick gets boring with one character doing it, but a DOZEN? Agggh what was he thinking?

The Karkat memos were freaking hilarious though, I'll admit that.

Quick reply box is too small for writing long posts like this.

THERE IS HOPE IN OUR TIME.

So I'm guessing that the spades in Karkat's eyes at the end of the flash are some sort of troll bromance. I could settle this if I tracked down the (... two) comics that explain troll romance, but yeah, that's not happening.

I think I might be actually done with this comic for good. I just opened it up after a few days and all I see on the recent updates bar is "Troll: do something stupid." After reading the creator's rant about how the trolls were part of the original design process and are now officially entwined into the plot to the point of no return, I just don't think I care muster up the enthusiasm to read a never-ending troll arc.
Title: Re: Where doing it man

I have to agree with you...the cast of characters is waaaaay too large to feasibly follow without having a ****ing crazy *** pace.
It doesn't help that a lot of the trolls personalities chalk up to "They're not human, so they're weird!"

Slight spoiler but you should have all seen it by now anyway

I think Rose and Jasper's goodbye is only made sadder by the fact they are both smiling.

Also, that was the first time I've watched that ICP Miracles (MiRaClEs?) video.
You mean they are both white and there's only two of them?
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on October 31, 2010, 12:46:28 PM
Blasphemy.

Rose and Jasper's goodbye isn't sad though. It's just touching. They're parting on good terms. Neither of them is dead (well, Jaspers isn't any more dead than he has been for a while) and we'll prolly see the little guy sooner or later again anyway. And if it comes to it, they can talk on pesterchum, and Rose still has that summony bracelet thing.

Man, those chats were awfully boring. All of them. :/
The chats suck.
You are both bad people; the chats are good. Usually enough plot to keep you satisfied, but to keep you interested.
And then there are the other chats which are hilarious, like those troll memos, or the daveXmost people logs. Those are the best.
It was with glorious mirth that I read the Dave and Equius chat.

So this flash, ey? And to think I thought Hussie was just having a break for a few days. Nope! He was flashing it like a whore. Awesome.
All the horrors of the furthest ring...

I've been reading for hours and have only managed to get part way through the detective thing.  They're fighting the mega boss in space on the ship whilst the dames do the thin/fat thing with the doors and clothes and the projector.

Anyway, what I've seen so far is totally awesome.

Oh man, Problem Sleuth is awesome. You should feel lucky to be reading it for the first time. I remember when I first found MSPA, I think it was up to arouund where you are now, or a few chapters before. I read the whole thing in a few days. Serious archive binging (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ArchiveBinge). **** was so cash.

I remember when I first started reading Problem Sleuth... I archive binged all the way from the first issue up to after the first time Vampire PS agressed with the scythe. Stopped there because there weren't anymore pages past that at the time.

And PS gave me the best birthday present ever: DMK finally died on my birthday.

The best part is that he said, if you consider Problem Sleuth to be a warmup to Homestuck, then he considers Homestuck to be a warmup to his next big thing.

How a 2+ year project can be a warmup is beyond me.

This whole multiple stories going at seperate speeds really does my head over. And the way he plans it so well, too.

So we're finally back at the exiles on Earth in 2422, directly after the last time we saw them, which was so many months ago. Meanwhile, at the exact same moment Karkat is having his (for Karkat that is) second conversation with John, about something that John hasn't even done yet, and won't do until shortly after their first conversation, which could be ages away!

I love this comic.

It's really only enjoyable once you realize he's planning convolution for convolution's sake and just stop worrying about things that don't make sense with the vague confidence it'll all make sense later. Trying to keep solid grips on everything otherwise is both pointless and kills the fun.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on December 18, 2010, 05:26:07 AM
Yet another LOWAS remix, and John has become sort of dream-man.

According to my research, spending ALL of your money would take forever. And, once you get down to 2 boonbucks, you can't spend any more. But you can still give away thousands to your hatless friends, which makes you go into the negatives.
AND. Spoilers:
The T junction is more of a + junction.
Also:
Press Ctrl+T in the strife screen.
And if you can't figure that out:
It's an analogous riddle. What sounds match the cohort sounds of pap and nak?
And if you STILL don't know:
shoosh:doof
Also, there's a fair few implications from John's ascent.

John had to die in order for his dreamself to awaken as the true Heir of Breath and thus become more powerful by accessing the god tiers.
Similiarly, Vriska died IRL (at Aradia's hands) and got to the god tiers. Whether or not she became the Bitch of Hugeness or not, (I think falling asleep IRL on the stone bed has to trigger it) is another thing. But even if she did, she could have just ditched the fruity costume, as John will in the future (we've seen him in his first conversation with Karkat, right before he and his chums cause the rift).

ANYWAY. What I'm getting at is:
Dave is currently fine. He and his dreamself are alive and well.
But Jade's dreamself is dead, so she can't be the true Witch of Space.
And Rose is planning on killing her dreamself with The Tumor and The Green Sun. And if she does that, she'll **** up her chances at the god tiers too.

Probably. This is all speculation of course, and that's all part of the fun!
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on December 18, 2010, 01:12:04 PM
Yeah I totally didn't find any of that. And what's that riddle even based on?

Bitch of Hugeness

It's a callback. Go back to the the "Equius puts Aradia's soul in a robot body" part and you'll see RoboAradia slapping the **** out of Equius, which Jade putting some sense into DreamJade mirrors, followed by RoboAradia laying the smooch on him. That was the joke.
The official reason is that for a moment there, Karkat lapsed into the 13 year old boy that he is, only to find himself disgusted over the thought.

I had quite the laugh at the whole HMMMMM thing. But he's pretty nuts to hate himself from hours ago/in the future.

There's a new album out, but it hasn't been announced in the news for some reason.

ed: It's extremely experimental sounding, and in my opinion, boring.
I'm not even sure why I brought up the fact that there's a new album up...I mean, same as ****ing always.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on April 15, 2011, 10:35:40 PM
Apparently the new album was designed to mashup the two songs of each world so that they'd sound good together. Um, but why weren't they just released as mashups instead of separate, slow, rather boring songs?

MSPA has been slipping more slowly into comercialism, with songs unrelated to the comic being advertised there as somehow part of the experience. It's been tolerable since things have been pretty high quality. But the monthly albums that have nothing to do with anything, plus the failure for a really awesome 4/13 flash (the long, randomly note whining about how hard it is to time these is BS - come on dude, you set the date yourself. You had a year to plan this out) is stretching the coating a bit thin.

Later on, Hussie starts breaking them down into more manageable chunks that span a few pages. I much prefer this method, since I feel like I'm progressing, and it's not as overwhelming. Plus, I can just save and leave if I'm short on time, or if it's getting a bit much.

No but you see, here was a lad who was not like us. He had no interest in Homestuck. But then, he gave it a chance. He kept giving it a chance through the admittedly slow Act 1, and then he kept going and now he's become one of us.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: HobomasterXXX on April 27, 2011, 10:28:48 AM
Act 1 was pretty good actually. Pretty much all of it has been fine, the only time I was really annoyed at all was OH GOD SO MANY CONSECUTIVE TROLL PESTERLOGS **** OFF PLEASE AHH. But I'm past that now.

It had a steep learning curve. I don't think all the syadex-related stupidity was the best way to hook newcomers. It seems for every fan, there's someone who couldn't get past that. But Act 1 got jawsome and never looked back from the introduction of Dad onward.

No, I saw. In fact, if you just sit there and let it load, it auto-loads the next page. I guess I'm just jaded, given that every long pause seems to culminate in a Flash moment. I'm just not blown away like I used to be.

Also: (http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/9555/unled1my.jpg)

Unless, of course, you aren't auto-redirected after it finishes loading, and can see the single-frame message without problem.

I just liked the lack of [S], which as we all know by now denotes sound. And it looked like it was going to be a boring, soundless Flash.
BUT THEN: It loads a hidden [S] Flash. Everyone wins.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on May 01, 2011, 07:25:30 AM
I'm not buyin' it, at least not without stronger clues from the next pages. What does Karkat have to do with being a judge? Judge Tyranny was mentioned by Terezi way back when she was being introduced. He's a separate character. And, if I want to meta this a little bit, I'm pretty sure that the very concept of the trolls even having the ancestors hadn't been thought of at that point.
Title: Re: Where doing it man

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on May 02, 2011, 09:23:58 AM
Well I don't know the MUTANT CANDY BLOOD RED colouring gave me the idea.
Anyway, reading the forums, while Andrew himself seemingly mocked the idea of that being his ancestor, some of the fantheories were a little more compelling. And its not like Andrew is an easily read person.

Time will tell?

If he is, he is. As for me, I don't think there's nearly enough reason to suspect that. I try not to injulge in fandom too much - I find it warps the fans' sense of what's actually canon for the material.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Grandy on May 03, 2011, 10:10:01 PM
Don't skim, it makes things a thousand times worse.

Given how some of the chum pestering can lead to exceptionally verbose pages, not skimming is not an option.

I do understand the key points, though.

The four chums are going to try and blow up the Green Sun, which would make Jack Noir not be god-tier and thus make the game winnable.

Trolls are going currently through puberty which in their species means murderous ranpages, and that means quite a few of them are currently dying for good. Currently dead for good are:

Tavros
Nepeta
Equius
Feferi

Not dead are:
Karkat - Escaping Gamzee with Sollux
Sollux -blinded-
Aradia -risen to god tier, can only be killed in a just or heroic way-
Terezi -Few steps away from being killed by Gamzee-
Gamzee -Awakened his true blood thanks to Dave showing him a video of Insane Clown Posee, currently in a murderous ranpage-
Vriska - killed Tavros but feels bad for her backstabbing nature, is currently heavly ship-tease'd with John. Also, God-tier.
Eridan - Gave up all hope and decided to defect to Jack Noir's side to be spared.
Kanaya - Was dead but awakened as a troll-vampire.

All players are created by the game in order to be chosen ones for the game.

People who die irl can awaken as their dream-selves, if trolls die and still have a dream-self they can be revived.

Remarkably decent summary, best I can understand things myself. Only correction I can think of is that Eridan is also dead. Killed by crazed vampire Kanaya. Nepeta is maybe possible not dead since we never really saw her die, but it's a very safe bet at this point.

Reading the wiki always makes me discover some obscure bullshit I would never normally pick up on. Like how all the Denizens are actually named after their respective kid's web browser. Thank you. I forgot Eridan died, yeah. Honestly that happened so fast I was like (http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/03346_9258.jpg)

Yeah, Gamzee was wearing her hat and he killed everyone up to that point. I'm afraid it doesn't et clearer than that.

However, this IS Homestuck. AFAIK she was past Nepeta that was supposed to die because of a 50/50 bet or somethin.

Quote

Okay, but what's with the killing the time-controlling gangsters? I read that was actually Jack from the Troll's version of the game and that Snowball is their version of the dark queen, but how did they end up in that wherever it is?

Quote
Really, it's better off not thinking too much about them.

True enough. To be fair it's one of the heavy time-traveling plots that I'm least confused about.

also, one more doubt I remembered: How did Aradia die? The first time I mean. Her first appearance was already of a ghost.

I remember Vriska manipulating Sollux to do it, but I was confused because he was holding a pot of mind honey, and that seemed to be the present sollux then, the one who accidentally put mind honey in his mouth and went ciclops insane.

Also, take that paragraph out of context and imagine some random citizen tryiong to make heads out of tails of what I've written.

Mad respex for Grandy
so mad

Anyway: Spades, Boxcars, Diamonds and Deuce are the trolls' session's equivelent to the kids' session's guys. The kids' Spades, Jack, killed the Black Queen with Jade's gift and became a superpowerful dude, whilst the trolls' Spades, Spades, worked with Karkat to exile their Black Queen. She was later met by Doc Scratch, given powers and recruited into Lord English's crew, The Felt. Spades Slick, after being exiled, forms the Midnight Crew with his friends from Derse. They left the session somehow and wind up on Alternia, and literally build the city somehow. It's then probably populated with Dersites and Prospitans, but that's just a theory. Then they have many adventures, and it's implied that they've had run ins with the Felt before, so this is likely set many many years after where we are with the trolls now.

Also we saw Nepeta's body recently, didn't we? Apparently not. Strange, I could've sworn we had...

We still have no idea. I think all we know from what Hussie has said, is that we have seen Lord English and that he is going to be one of the characters we've already seen.

But Jack/Slick (both of them) is too obvious, right?

We only just a couple of weeks ago

Actually that was the beginning of March. I love this comic.

My guess for the artifacting is that he made the artifacts seperate and layered them over whatever he wanted in Flash.

Also, when I clicked the "Quit" command because the cd stopped working, I got a blue screen of death.
...that's weird.

I'm not sure I really care for the current pacing of the plot.

It's like "Hey know all those flashes and fight scenes you liked? Yeah I'm tired of that ****. Here's a white text on green background."
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on May 26, 2011, 06:17:06 PM
Pacing has been terrible for a while now. Introducing the trolls at all was a risky move. Introducing their ancestors, which really nobody gives a toss about since they don't appear to be even remotely connected to the plot, was all a bit too much for me. We've been bouncing around between so many subplots for so long yet nothing really seems to be happening in the story.

I wonder if the current, completely lazy approach is because the creator himself is getting tired of this whole mess? Problem Sleuth lasted a year - Homestuck just crossed two with no real signs of tying things up.

NEW ALBUM REVIEW: (opinions, I got opinions)

Black Rose - Green Sun: Oh look, it's that song from the Rose walkabout flash. I think. It's p. good.
At the Price of Oblivion: Oh look, it's that song what the album is named after. It would appear to be a remix of uh, Hardchorale. It's alright I guess.
Even In Death: Oh look, I don't even know. But it has that drum bit from Descend, and I really like that bit. I think it's actually a subtle (or not?) remix of Crysanthemums, or whichever was in [S] Make Her Pay. I like it.
Terezi Owns: Oh look, it's a remix of Descend, right after I mentioned it. This is the one from [S] Seer: Ascend. It's got that touch of one of those other songs that I like, plus Descend, so win/win?
Trial and Execution: Oh look, it's a slower remix of the Lemonsnout Turnabout, I think is the one. It would appear to be Redglare's theme, I suppose. It's alright, though I've never been a fan of the wailing woman effect.
The Carnival: Oh look, it's a Gamzee-esque song. Could you guess? It would appear to be a remix of that song from early on, when John is getting his *** kicked by those two ogres on top of his house. You know the one. This starts slow, but speeds up in all due time. Oh god, the honking. Salright.
Spider8reath: Oh look, electric guitar out the wazoo. Vriska themed, not sure if it is a remix of anything yet. I guess I could save us all the trouble by waiting until I've listened to the song until typing but **** you, some guy. There's a little bit of MeGaLoVania in this song, I think (that's the one from when Aradia freezed OH **** ARADIA Jack, right?) Oh and there's a sample of Vriska's theme there too. Salite I guess.
Lidoff: Oh look, this is the first SBAHJ related song on an official album, is it? The song is strictly not quite SBAHJ at all, though you might get visions of Sweet Bro preparing for some unreal air in a clounless sky. Maybe. Pretty orchestral.
Awakening: Oh look, it's a bit chiptuney. I don't recognise this as anything though. Oooh it got better, that's a plus. In conclusion, it's okay.
Havoc to be Wrought: Oh look it'd been a minute and I still don't know. Reminds me of the Felt album though. Perhaps something Doc Scratch related. Shrug.
Play the Wind: Oh look, this isn't what I was expecting at all. I thought it would be more John related. MAYBE IT STILL IS? It's certainly different. Ain't really doin' me favours though.
Rumble at the Rink: Oh look, I have no words. It's a upbeat hoot and I can't help but think it's a giant injoke towards that greaserfad that took over the MSPA fandom for a week or something. I thought it was stupid. Actually, sounds a bit Jack-y. Eh.
Let's All Rock at the Heist: Oh look, synthy. It has a sample of -something- but then I guess most of these things do. It's pretty alright I guess. Oh god what is this vocals, why? I have a history of not liking vocals. These aren't as bad as say, whatever ruined DKC2's OC album, but it's no Gamebro/Nic Cage song/Don't Wanna Miss a Thing/the other one.
WSW-Beatdown: Oh look, a remix of Walk-Stab-Walk. Much faster. Probably a remix of Beatdown too, I can't remember what that sounds like. This is good though. WSW is a pretty good track. I approve.
Earthsea Borealis: Oh look, a remix of either a John track or a John tracks. I am not too fussed tee bee aytch.
Warhammer of Zillyhoo: Oh look, it's that song from the Warhammer of Zillyyhoo flash. Really a joke track and little more.
Saviour of the Dreaming Dead: Oh look, it's the one song I was looking forward to most when I saw the tracklist. Aha, it is as I suspected - a remix of Saviour of a Waking World, which is in turn a remix probably of whatever the original LOWAS track was. Unless that was it, but I don't think it was. This is pretty good. I like this one. A good track to end the album with.

I hope this is a bad universe.
But the fact that Scratch is talking about it is making me think that that's not the case.

ed: Not really 100% on the new album.
I really like the first song, and Terezi Owns, but...that's it so far.
All the rest have been meh-ish.
So, like, double meh, because it's not even really a full meh.
Which totally made sense in my head, because it's 3am.

Title: Re: Where doing it man

I was mixed on that. It had plenty of promise, but they really didn't give us much to work with. I liked the puzzle with the first minecart, and there was some fun with what little actual combat existed, but there was so little that we got to see that it was underwhelming. Lots of hope for the full game, but for a demo that they made such a big deal about, they could have shown more.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on June 04, 2011, 06:53:37 AM
Well, the 2 weapons thing is terrible. It's somehow worse than I was expecting.
Duke himself is still a funny one-line machine. I only played through once but I heard an allusion to half-life, and an almost direct quote from Starship Troopers, so that's cool.
The health system is worse than I thought. I was under the impression you regenerated health by killing enemies. Instead it's just the plain old hide-for-five-seconds crap.
The first level you have to make your way to the stadium and kill a big boss with one weapon. The level shows off more of the interactive side of things. Also when you throw crap at the EDF guys they don't react so it seems lacking in some places. You can't even [use] the other humans to talk to them or anything.
The second level you drive around in a car which has an incredibly shakey camera. I still haven't decided if that's a good thing or not. Then you fight a large amount of pigcops with an array of weapons instead of them just having shotguns. I guess the variety is a nice touch. You solve a few puzzles, punch a lantern only once, kill some spiders. I guess the desert is the worst part of it all. It's so uninteresting. DN3D's levels were tighter for the most part.

I just feel that they didn't show off the right stuff in the demo. They should have done one of the levels in the city with the aliens attacking. Those levels look interesting. I guess they were just too proud of the car?
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Archem on June 05, 2011, 12:50:37 AM
Pretty much. The two weapons, while irritating, I can understand. Console ports don't have enough buttons for everything. Still, being held back again isn't desirable. The regen thing is what I expected, and I was disappointed from the start. Still, at least they took one step forward with it - Your "Ego" (shields) grows when you kill bosses, so you get more health as you go. Still would have preferred old-school health.

Really would have liked to see a few more things showcased. Jetpack, a new gun, whatever. They barely even let us use the pipebombs (which I love, by the way). I hope there's a puzzle involving them and an unlimited supply nearby.

She was just about to bring Jack over, killing all of her friends due to her hubris.
So yeah, I think it was just.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on June 09, 2011, 08:43:15 AM
But she wasn't intentionally going to bring Jack over, that was an unfortunate side effect.

I don't think this is the last of Vriska.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: fruckert on June 09, 2011, 10:21:13 AM
It may not have been intentional, but her vanity (not the correct word, but my brain is mush right now) was out of control, and she was about to doom quite a few people just so she can take part in a losing fight.
By my judgement, which I admit is flawed, that sounds pretty just.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Grandy on June 09, 2011, 09:55:02 PM
But if we go over these things, then John's death was also heroic. He died facing someone he would never have a hope of defeating.

Vriska was killed by a backstab, with no chance to defend herself. Hardly a just death.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: fruckert on June 09, 2011, 11:02:05 PM
But John wasn't about to get a ton of people killed.

Also, the Gamzee plotline isn't finished and it wouldn't make sense to just end it by having Vriska get Jack to kill everything.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on June 09, 2011, 11:27:36 PM
Aye, but Vriska wasn't about to get everyone else killed on purpose. As far as she knew she was going to fight Jack, and from what Scratch was saying, quite possibly win.

And surely it wouldn't be the first time that this comic has killed plotlines before they could go somewhere.

So, I recently wrote a Wild Mass Guessing at TVTropes.

 However since I know you guys won't go in there in deep fear you may get lost and never come out, I'll replicate here;

Jack Noir (Troll session) and Bec Noir (after having his powers toned down from the current god mode) will eventually fuse in a single Noir (or at least join forces)

This Fusion!Noir will equip the Troll section ring to his left hand, and the kids ring on his right hand, having powers from both sections. This ensures the "last boss" to be beatable, but still tougher than previous Kids!Jack, who apparently struggled to be at the same level as Bro. Alternatively, the kids and the trolls will have to team up to defeat the two Jacks, or a fusion of both. What makes me think they'll fuse? Well, they seem like polar opposites; Bec Noir (with his sprite facing right) has a scar on his right eye (AFAIK it's deep enough to make that eye blind), and doesn't have a left arm, while Slick Noir (with his sprite facing right) doesn't have his left eye and his right arm. In any other comic I would disregard this as a coincidence, but on one so rooted on symbolism as Homestuck, it really strikes to me Hussie is turning them into two halves of a whole.

also i wish to punch the solid snake in the signature of hobo's. SO. ****ING. HARD.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on June 17, 2011, 02:56:57 AM
Alternatively: What'll happen is what John was originally planning, and he'll have no arms and no eyes.
If the two should meet I imagine he'd probably kill Slick. Also, Jack only really had problems with Bro BEFORE he Bec'd up. Afterwards it wasn't even a thing.

TBH I am more intrigued in how the exiles managed to get to their respective session's planets.

And interesting turn of events for Dave and Rose, neither of who are dead apparently.

So, was that the Gamzee-Tavros rap-off we were promised? Sure seemed like it.
Also, that Jack. Oh man.
Also also, does that mean Kanaya has also survived THE CRITICAL EVENT? It would appear that way.

Also also also, AVCON this weekend! I wore my record shirt and my devilbeast shirt. Saw a John/Karkat (same person, different days), 3 Gamzees, 1 Sollux. One Gamzee and the Sollux were guuurls but w/e. Nobody really pulled it off! The miracle of Cosplay. Except for one Gamzee. He had a club and a horn and grey skin. Kind of scary looking though.

Yes, Natako indirectly got me into that.
She told me the start was boring, but the story became awesome after a while. So I decided to give it a try.
(Yes, I know you probably all mentioned the boring start as well, but it appears her opinion is more important to me, deal with it!)

So yeah, it's actually true. It's pretty awesome. I'm currently at the part where this Troll with a... well, let's say it, very gay name, is being introduced. I'll keep reading from time to time, when I have free time, so I can catch up with this.

"Oh! But I counterattack your TRAP CARD with my hidden TRAP CARD! You can't escape!"

That's how Yu-Gi-Oh always looked like to me.

I liked it too. I can easily understand how all the needless dicking about bores some people and is a significant barrier to getting into the plot but I found it really amusing.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Archem on July 27, 2011, 09:37:38 AM
Honestly, I could have enjoyed endless dicking about. Seriously. I mean, it's not like they ever stopped dicking around. It's more like they have more color, something resembling a plot (but not that closely), and shenanigans.

Also, Lucas, you're pretty much right on the money about Yu-Gi-Oh!, which is kind of odd, given that it sure doesn't seem that way once you take a serious interest in it. It's weird that the more you like it, the harder it is to see it for what it really is - endless traps and counter-traps.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on July 27, 2011, 01:41:33 PM
Troll with a gay name? I honestly have no idea which one you're referring to.

And Archem I think I understand where you are coming from. While the popular opinion is that the start of Homestuck is slow, back then it really was something completely different to what it is now. Dicking around with inventory issues, exploring every little thing. It was a lot of fun. If what I've read is true back then is when he had the suggestion box open the whole time.

I genuinely loved them. Pretty much everything has been awesome, except I was getting tired of the trolls at the early stages of the plot focusing on them. Too many, too much plot skimming, not enough depth, blah blah blah.

Then they got some character fleshed out, and they became beloved members of the family.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea of when Homestuck is going to wrap up? I enjoyed Problem Sleuth immensely, but I can't imagine reading it daily - it just seems like it would move too slowly. So if there's any indication that it's going to end anytime soon, I'd prefer to just wait until it's done and read the whole thing in one or two sittings.

Over on Jade's tower, Jack is sad over Jade's death. Jack kills Clubs Deuce in response and gets Dad's wallet from him.

Later, Jack in the troll universe, face to face with Bilious Slick, kills him with his RED MILES. This sends waves of destruction throughout the kids' universe, which eventually reaches Earth in the distant future where the trolls are having their shenanigans.

Seeing the RED MILES, the exiles begin their plan to destroy the SBURB pods. AR arms the detonator. In the frog temple, WK waits outside the pod thing where WK has spent the last 413 million years. A second pod reaches its last 10 seconds.

Back at Jade's tower, Jack sadly takes dead Jade to her planet's quest bed. Looking up to the sky, he heads off to the frog temple, sitting in the asteroid from before it left the insipisphere, where the WK is already in statis. He jumps into the second pod.

Back in the future, Jack emerges from the second pod and decapitates WK, who drops Rose's book. Then he kills WQ. Outside, he approaches PM and AR. He approaches PM, who readies up for battle, but AR distracts Jack accidentally by blowing up the Bec pod. Then he blows up the Egg pod. Jack appears in front of him. As he steps closer, AR blows up the Apple pod. Just as he is about to destroy the last pod, and WV with it, Jack decapitates AR, much to PM's horror. PM swings to kill Jack, but he teleports into the cork pod where  WV is. Noticing the pod is out of fuel, Jack reaches in and grabs the uranium from WV's stomach, gaining his bloody hand in the process. Jack powers up the pod with the uranium and uses the teleport, leaving PM with the a dead AR and a universe on the edge of destruction (those red miles!).

Just as the trolls are about to step into their new universe, Jack is teleported to their location. He destroys the entrance, Aradiabot sends the trolls to the lab and many Aradiabots from doomed timelines come back to fight Jack. Prospit and Derse are destroyed, all the dreamselves killed, Dream Aradia awakens as God Tier, and later she and a dead dream bubble Sollux hang near the Green Sun.

Derse's moon from the kids universe travels onwards with Rose and Dave, through the outer ring. DD is killed by Dave, Rose holds the Tumor that Liv Tyler stole from CD. Dave, Rose and Liv head into the center of the Derse moon. Inside they find their own God-tier beds, and they stand on them accordingly. Rose removes The Tumor from the card, and it breaks open like an egg, revealing a machine with two tubes, one red, one blue. Inside the red tube, the destruction that Jack's RED MILES is doing to the kids' universe can be seen, along with Earth. Inside the blue tube we look into the troll universe, zooming on to Alternia. On its green moon, SS and Snowman stand on a roof. Snowman goads SS into shooting her with Scratch's pistol. She is shot through the heart, spilling blue blood everywhere, beginning the destruction of the troll's universe. The destruction  matches that of the RED MILES in ther other universe and can be seen in the blue tube of the machine.

In the forests of the LOFAF, hummingbirds fly around.  From the Cork pod, Jade can be seen on a monitor before it fades to black. PM is dismayed over finding WV's corpse. On LOFAF, the hummingbirds flock to Jade's corpse. As the reckoning continues, meteories fly towards Skaia, and only so many a teleported away via gates. Others rain down on Skaia, where Jadesprite and Davesprite are. A large one hurtles right at them, while Jade's questbed begins to light up. Jadesprite and Davesprite exchange last looks, before Jadesprite suddenly changes. She turns into godtier Jade, Witch of Space. Using her space powers, she turns the giant meteor into a small basketball sized rock. She lifts a Prospite battleship into the air and boards it, then shrinks Skaia right down until it is as small as the previous meteor, with Davesprite still on it. She teleports the ship over to LOFAF, so she can shrink it too.

On the Beat Mesa, John has completed the Scratch. On Earth, PM looks to the skies as she has dragged WV out of the pod. In doing so, the WQ's ring he had falls out of its hiding space, which she notices and picks up. Jade teleports John from the Beta Mesa to the ship. Jade shrinks all the kids' planets down and juggles them! Dave and Rose watch on as the machine ticks down its final minute. PM puts on the ring. The Beta mesa moves towards Skaia (?) and the destruction Jack and SS have done to the two universes begins to reach their conclusion. Jade begins teleporting the defenstrated window from her house ball, scaling it up in size. Within the window we see many scenes from Jade's adventure and Gamzee's conversation with Scratch after he killed everyone.

TC: that's all motherfuckin done whitetexted bro.
TC: NOW WHAT?

TC: oh yeah?
TC: AND JUST WHAT THE MOTHERFUCK IS IT
TC: that we motherfuckin are?

Gamzee highlights Scratch's response, "S u c k e r s" as he watches Jade's house ball fall over, right at the critical moment.

The Derse moon continues onwards, and the machine explodes, creating the Green Sun. Outside of the Green Sun, Aradia and dream bubble Sollux float in space. In the distance, Jack sees the Green Sun. At the time over the 5x troll standoff, Terezi, Kanaya, Gamzee and Karkat look up to the sky. Sollux is blind. Terezi points out the direction of the sun (Karkat corrects her), and Sollux uses his mind powers to launch the asteroid they are on towards it. This overexertion kills Sollux. Jack sees this, and teleports to the plateau where the entrance to the new universe is. Here, he sees something.

Killed in the explosion, but by standing on their dream beds, Dave and Rose rise out of the green sun in God Tier form. Aradia greets them.

Elsewhere, standing at WV's body, PM has undergone the prototyping of the ring. She stands at the plateau, WV's body behind her, staring back at Jack.

At the defenestrated wall, Jade continues to scale it up, showing us in reverse order her adventure. It becomes much larger than the battleship, which goes right through the lower left pane. In the final movements we see the beginning of John's adventure, ending with frame 1. And then the curtains close and the act is ended.
Okay, I finally remembered I downloaded this.

That was LONG AS HELL. I can see why it took this long to make. And it murdered like a dozen guys, and updated every current plot, and I admit I didn't understand like 90% of what was going on but that's pretty much to the norm for these flashes.

Best part is the new mixes of John's planet and Jade's grimdark (see, I've forgotten essentially all the names of everything by now).

What I don't understand was why it was made at all. Is the dude just getting sick of the comic format? Cuz all of that would have been a thousand times more epic given in pieces over the past 2 months rather than thrown at us in one big flash. Especially now that he's probably going to take another huge break. I don't get it. He practically invented the sound and graphics webcomic format himself, and now he's murdering it with stunts like this.

Ah well, whatever. It was fun until it wasn't.

Well if it isn't Nancy Negative and his friend, Also Nancy.
Keep in mind he didn't really start it until like a month ago, since we was busy doing all that other ****.
Would it have been more epic broken up into pieces? Maybe. Maybe not.

I'm a negative nancy for wondering why there was a 15 minute animation all at once when 3 5 minute ones would have been better?

If you want to blindly praise the thing and chew out people that don't like it, there's official forums for that.

I think the massive flash was a great end to what was the biggest act so far. Makes the wait worth it.

I would hardly call "Nancy Negative" chewing out. I just don't really agree with multiple smaller releases may have been better than one big one.
I will agree that, while reaching an arc number is nice, if it was possible to release it earlier he should've done so. But then again it sounded like it was up as soon as he could, what with the hosting issues he had.
Now, you'll argue that, if he had released them separately, hosting probably wouldn't have been an issue. And you'd probably be right!

But in the end I think it was one big story that needed to be told at once. Sure, we could have watched them one after another in the end, but that would slightly lower the impact. Maybe. Maybe not. OPINIONS.

Anyway; ultimately the Flash brought a LOT of the storylines and updated them, either finishing them or combining them with others to make less storylines in total. This I'm sure you'll agree is a good thing. Less to keep track of and all that.

Definitely good to update and consolidate a plot of plot threads. Though I can't help but feel that the body count trivializes a lot of them. I mean, there's now one surviving future denizen left after years of those guys bumming around and not doing much.

Hussie covers the Flash in a lot of words.

Now we know -why- the exiles were blowing up the pods: to stop Jack from going to other universe.

He also -implies- that WV may not be dead. This is why PM brought him to the Troll universe with him.

We are set to resume updates on Skyrim Day.

You underestimate the Homestuck fanbase. They're rabid animals. Except us cool, level headed fans.

He didn't HAVE to explain it at all. I got everything he said out of the flash, save for a few metaphors which aren't relevant to the plot in the grand scheme of things at all. The explanation was heplful, but hardly neccesary. The only thing people mostly fucked up on was the Green Sun being created, which I fail to understand. It was really obvious. Bomb explodes in empty space. Suddenly a green sun. Interpreting that as it being destroyed is kinda stupid. It's pretty obvious what the intention with that scene was.

Skyrim is bigger to nerds. Keep that in mind. Battlefield is competing with Call of Duty, which means it's going toe-to-toe with the biggest entertainment source in the world. Too ****ing many people play that ****. So it'll likely sell better than the still likely to be a massive success "Skyrim".

Of course, I could be full of ****, but I'll wait for post-holidays sales reports to verify.

Nah Archem, you're right. Shooters sell more, always. Shooters appeal to non nerds. Shooters are casual games. Every self respecting nerd with a 360/good enough PC/PS3 will get Skyrim. But lots and lots of non nerds will get Battlefield.

We're coming up to a new intermission, so you may get some of the original lineup, Sai. But you seem content to be a whiny bitch hating on the plot for reasons I don't really understand (there's a lot of good reasons, you just don't seem to be conveying any of them), so whatever. I'm loving the new stuff now Hussie's gotten over the relationship pesterlog bullshit.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: SaiKar on March 09, 2012, 05:44:32 AM
I've just drawn the proverbial line in the sand for how many new characters I can actually care about. And considering Hussie intentionally trolls his fanbase at every opportunity, it's been an effort to want to keep up with things for like a year now.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Archem on March 09, 2012, 05:51:49 AM
I've actually been able to keep all the characters in mind pretty well. For what it's worth, Hussie sure does enough to make them all memorable. Hell, I not only know who these new kids are, but I give some shits about them. Considering how they relate to the old kids, it's less of a "new kids" thing, and more of an expansion on existing characters.

But Sai would know that if he kept with it instead of jumping ship as soon as more characters showed up.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: HobomasterXXX on March 09, 2012, 07:45:12 AM
I'm pretty neutral to Jane and Jake. They're kind of... meh, I guess. Don't grab my attention, but do nothing to make me hate them. I pretty much like every other character Hussie's introduced before to some degree.

Also, it's pretty ironic how Feferi had near to zero plot relevance, and now her Ancestor is so goddamn significant it hurts.

So Archem, how about how HORRIFYING that part was where HE KILLED EVERYONE?
And wasn't the music amazing? English with spots of Descend, Revelawesome, Psych0ruins and even a quiet bit of Doctor at the end.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Archem on July 31, 2012, 05:26:21 AM
I am shocked at the murder of characters specifically mentioning Dave and John and also Dave. The leg-gnawing was also unexpected, and I definitely get the nod to the Saw films. And that thing with Jack at the end? Isn't it weird seeing him/him without thinking of him as some super-badass?
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on July 31, 2012, 12:41:35 PM
Totally agree on the Jack thing, considering the angry merciless demon he's been so far it would surprise me if Hussie does not have him killed by the kids' hands by the comic's end.
But it certainly does look like he might have a temporary change of heart. Maybe.

And that black hole, what the **** even happened I don't even. I read theories that since since UU and uu are two people sort of, there were two kernalsprites, and since they came out all up in each others' grills, they prototyped with each other, freaking out and causing said black hole.
But man, that Dave and John, killed forever. That's superharsh. That's the same John that Vriska had a d8 with. What an end. Speaking of, though, the internet has noticed Vriska wasn't visible, nor Tavros, so mayhaps after the spritesplosion, they wound up in a different bubble altogether.

Time will tell.

So do the God tiers actually die for real? I mean, does that count as a heroic death? I'm not certain, given the circumstances. That kind of obliteration doesn't exactly seem fair, and it doesn't seem just or heroic in the slightest. It just seemed like rap.

e.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Razor on August 01, 2012, 04:33:16 AM
That's an interesting point. I mean, sure they were god tiers, but they were from a doomed timeline. Does the latter override the former?
Based on their eyes, they were all already dead, so, I dunno.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Archem on August 01, 2012, 05:38:16 AM
The already dead part brings up another interesting thought. Do you kill a ghost? Or perhaps the all-out attack was more of an assertion of power than a genuine attempt to wreck their ****?

I wonder how this will all play out in the grand scheme of things?

I read problem sleuth a while ago, and loved it.  Well, I don't think I finished it, but I reckon I got close.

I never managed to get into homestuck though.  All the placing items in the house with a mouse etc... I mean, I love the inventory systems, and I know that later it'll become amazing, but I can't quite bring myself to slug through it.

I've got to start reading this again, if only because my IRL friend found out I read it once, and she was like "DUUUUDE YOURE THE FIRST OTHER BRAZILLIAN WHO I KNOW WHO HAS EVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS THING" and now she goes on with her yaoi shippings of characters I never even know existed and bugs me to read it again and again D:

On other news, I made IRL friends this past year, some of which are girls.

She is like 7 years too young, tho.

And the one girl who was cute and funny and the appropriate age had a boyfriend of course.

Still, I'm fairly happy that I'm getting friends.

That went on a tangent. I dunno, I just feel really happy tonight for some reason. Wanted to tell people that.

Ok now I'm up to date.

Sweet jeez it's awesome.  I'm not quite as interested in the alpha kid's problems as I am the other's, though...  So the last lot hasn't been quite as great.

EDIT: Looking back and noticing that Sai bitches about the new kids quite a lot, I feel I should explain that I like them less, but I still like them.  It's just that the trolls and the original kids are the ones who already know each other and I'm kinda emotionally invested in them more.

Particularly Rose and Kanaya.  I'm understating this a lot so I'll repeat. Particularly Rose and Kanaya.

I read back through most of this topic and it makes me sad that I wasn't experiencing it when y'all were talking about it and more people were still reading... But honestly I think I got the best deal. Reading so much in one go was so good... Basically the equivalent of reading a book instead of reading a paragraph a day.

Weirdly, I didn't really see any of you talk about who your favourite characters were, apart from some vague mentions of Dave early on.  Who is your favourite character?  Mine was Terezi for a while, and now I'm not really sure.

Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Archem on February 03, 2013, 02:33:07 AM
They're pretty varied. Some days, there's one at a time for a few days in a row (used to be daily), sometimes there are large chunks all at once. Sometimes, there are several updates a day at different parts of the day. Sometimes, there's one awesome update that comes before (and typically leads into another) long pause. I miss the days when updates were reliably a daily thing, but given how impressive the format manipulations get, I can forgive the delays. Plus, the story is like goddamn crack.
Title: Re: Where doing it man

I admit I did not. Then again, I'm not used to theorising about what's gonna happen next. I'm used to it just happening within the next minute or two : p

He seems to be throwing up a ton of different leads to keep people guessing about lord English. I kinda thought it was a shame that Caliborn hadn't been beefing up on his planet as he unlocked the screens, because for a while back there we didn't see his whole body, just his face, and that would have been a cool reveal.

Screw that. If he's going into intricate detail on a sexual partnership I don't want him wasting it on cherubs.  In fact It doesn't need to be explicit: It'd be nice if he paid relationships any respect at all.  We found out Jade and Davesprite were going out and that they'd broken up in the same panel.  Dave and Terezi only had, like, one panel together during the time they were going out, and they weren't even looking at each other. And that had been building up for a while.  It's like he's anti-gratification of any sort.

dude... looking back to this comic. Page 2. Just gives me feels.
I can't believe I opened that link on page 2.
Opened it up and was just too confused. I had no idea what was going on.
and then I closed it. Looking back now I really regret not giving it a chance.

You just made me re-read the first half of this thread. I made it through 25 pages worth. I am reminded of the old PesterChum formula of novellas with a picture attached, partially because the subject kept coming up, and partially because reading through all those posts adds up to roughly one PesterChum conversation.

A thread with more than 10 pages has to be 4 years old on this forum.

I can't believe Homestuck is 4 years old to be honest.

Time flies.

Anyway, I heard Karkat died? Well that kind of just killed any interest I might have on returning to read homestuck, and I had very little interest.

It's like game of thrones; I just can't stand literature that disincourages mefrom getting attached to the characters because they might die at ay given moment.

Grandy, Grandy, Grandy.
Who was the last character to die and not show up somewhere? It was like Bro or Mom or something.
Do you really think for a minute Karkat is DAOOTS?

Still, Karkat was the least convoluted character, and IIRC he ranted a lot about how everything around him was convoluted. NOW HE IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Hussie's making a browser based dating sim based on high school versions of Namco-Bandai characters. (http://comicbastards.com/sdcc-13-shiftylook-announces-namco-high-browser-based-dating-sim/)

Yes, I'm serious.

Neither am I. It was very sad news.

I just have to kinda forget Homestuck exists or something. I get why he did this but considering how long it'll be, even I'll care less about the characters when it's done...

Having said that, if he does it properly, it'll be an incredible read in one go.

Did anyone read to the end? Thoughts?

I got pretty close, but one of those insufferable and tedious multi-select things fatigued me to the point of putting off finishing it. I'm very close to the end, but far enough away that I'd need to dedicate a good chunk of the day to catching up.

I'll do it soon.

rest in stuck. Wish Act 7 was a full act with dialogue but that animation was pretty gud.

(Homestuck is my favorite anime)
Title: Re: Where doing it man

Ending was well animated and has great music, but everything recent just smacks of "Okay I'm done with this time to end it." I'd have a hundred questions, if I remembered what those questions even were. As it is it seems the ending was basically "big battle k end" which is 100% not how I expected a story this convoluted to go down.

I guess it really did just get too big and overwheming. The standard bar went up so high that trying to meet it squelched out all the little things that made the story charming.

Well, its been like a billion years since it started, so I guess I can't complain about how much content we got anyway.

Problem Sleuth's epilogue was good. I expect the same out of Homestuck's.

I am confused. Everyone I know says Homestuck is a web comic I think yet I hear it has music and animations and now multiple choices?? Sounds more like a visual novel or whatever that term is for things made to make a story more interactive and game-like. While I can see how that'd make in interesting....When I read a web comic it's much like reading a novel for me. I hear, feel and see things as actively as if I were wearing an 3D headset with a nice pair of speakers.  To have music suddenly come from my phone or to be offered choices like an old school Goosebumps book would be...distracting and mind breaking methinks. ^^;

It has a few segments like Openbound where you can actually move around and talk to people.

It's a more multimedia experience, though primarily a webcomic.

O.O Wha...? Hmm...maybe I should try to make my web comic as a game liek everyone suggested but with this kind of idea in place. Gonna research that since my ability to draw may be high but comic panels remain a firm weakness. - -;

I'm glad you stuck with it to the end, Sai. It made me sad that you'd given up when you'd been so passionate about it before.

I mostly agree with you; the comic started like an amazing chocolate sculpture carved in the shape of a riddle, but act six was mostly like a bunch of delicious chocolates sitting on the floor with no real shape, and the riddle was never truly answered.

Ehh, you could say that. More accurately, friends would periodically get all passionate about Homestuck and I would catch up on a few months of updates to be able to talk to it about them. The story definitely had some big ups and downs - honestly, I never got really into the post-scratch Earth kids and their drama, but whatever. I can say I've read it front to back. Its weird, because I remember hearing about this starting when I was still in college, like, what, seven years ago? ****. I know where the time has gone, but its just unbelievable what a run this thing had. It was originally scheduled for two, three years tops?

Well, whatever.

Wake me when the epilogue hits.

I hope people don't think Homestuck is over. Homestuck is def crafted out to become a franchise of itself. Hussie himself said he didn't consider Homestuck to be his Magnum Opus yet. Homestuck still has Paradox Space, the side web comics for people to dive into, and then we have Hiveswap, the Homestuck game that's still being worked on.

Visually, the animation was fantastic. Plotwise though, well... My thoughts at the time were
*animation ends*
"Wow, I can't wait to see what happens next"
*The end*
"I see."

Lord English's death was worse than Bane's in The Dark Knight Rises, and that's saying something.
Title: Re: Where doing it man
Post by: Moosetroop11 on April 19, 2016, 08:38:33 PM
I hope Archem is assuming there'll spoilers by this point.

I agree; Lord English's defeat... ... ...the trouble is timey wimeyness. So the four kids had been trapped in caliborn's juju by Caliborn... Shortly before he himself had his soul trapped inside lil cal with Equiussprite and Gamzee, eventually creating Lord English. So I guess when Vriska unleased the juju the kids emerged and did battle... Off screen? At the same time that Calliope's Black Hole was consuming the universe anyway? I mean I know that was needed to remove the Green Sun but it also seemed to be eating everything by the end?

Unless I'm missing a bunch of stuff.

The actual battles against Lord English in Collide were a little silly anyway. Unlike the Conderce's battle with Roxy John Rose and Kanaya which was awesome.

It's amazing how any of that is reasonable. I haven't followed this so it's like I'm reading a foreign language right now
