Title: A couple of things....
Post by: mrcannibalhead on January 22, 2010, 03:20:15 PM
okay, I'm new to this forum thingy, and Geocities wiped out my account, so I gotta find a new web-host to store my graphics in before I can share anything, but first things....
Two questions....
First ?? -- Directly on topic, I've got several sprite and tile strips I've ripped from Metroid and Castlevania for GameMaker that could be reworked fairly easily I think for RPM2K or RPMXP either one.  Is it okay to post as is, or does it need to be reworked into the RPGM format first (may take a bit).
Second ?? -- Slightly off topic.... I used to work with RPM2k (the Don Miguel version) but was unable to replace it after my old computer crashed.  I've since been using GameMaker, which is a very nice game-making system, but there are some things (like, uh, RPG's) that RPG2k was just better at.  I know you can't ask about a link to download that program for legal bewareness reasons concerning warez (completely understandable), but what I'm hoping some-one can tell me is this:  Is there any way you can legally buy RPGMaker (any version) that's NOT warez.  I'd really like to get a legitimate copy,  if such a thing exists in english.  If not, well damn.

Thanx,

Quite a lot of people here work with GM (me for example), so it's alright to post those as is.
EDIT: Oh, sorry, thought you were talking about tile sets.
Yeah, it's still alright.
Although you may want to convert some into battlers and whatnot later on.

2k and 2k3 do not exist in an actual English version, but you can with XP and VX, although those are generally considered worse due to the crappy graphics.

Also, you can make very very good RPG's with GM, it just takes a LOT longer, and a lot of expertise in programming.
I lack patience and the latter.

Either that or just upload them to photobucket and do a img][/img] tag with the direct url in the middle.
