You don't give yourself enough credit Brieg; every successful project is a project complete.

Hell, anyone remember my Castlevania RPG (which is on hiatus, I'm out of ideas)? I worked for two days and melted people's eyes cuz I posted a screen with a dude in a thong.

Well, now that you say it's not much to look at though, I'll download it. I like proving people wrong. ^.^

Haha! To be fair, Brieg, you should just do it anyway. Screens and a bit of info make people's hearts melt.
People are unlikely to download or comment on a plain link.

The dialogue is bad, so is the mapping.

I got teleported to a tree and got struck, I found so many spelling errors, the first part of the demo I didn't even know who was talking when more than 1 person was talking, the 'rock club' is kind of dumb, also I can go past the crystals, as could a AI....

I say try to fix it and maybe it'll be good, not alot is explained, such as why I start on a mountain, why starting a new game gives me all my characters...

Sorry if I come off as rude, I'm just telling it as it is.

its supposed to be dumb, as is the rock club. this wasn't an epic thing of mine. it was when i was 11. and the mapping is also supposed to be bade i made this in 3 days. and you're not really supposed to go through the forest.

anyway the whole game is getting a revamp and a bit more of a serious tone with all the stupid stuff removed in favor of normal and awesome.

If you are just going to make excuses for things that are wrong with it, why upload it?

He didn't list things that are wrong with it. He listed things that he thought were wrong with it but are in fact A part of the fact that it was made in 3 days and B part of the fact that it is based on a story i wrote when i was 11

Okay, I should have worded it like this: Why upload it if you are going to make excuses for how bad it is?

We don't care if you wrote the story X years ago, or the mapping is crappy because you did it in X days.  Before you upload it, think about the quality of what you are presenting.  If you're not ready for someone to tear it apart, then don't upload it.  Simple as that.  Its great you finished something, just make it better now you know things that people don't like about it, don't get all defensive about it.

Also, when posting a topic for your game or a game you make, you should also look at this first: http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=27490.0

Most people won't just blindly download a game that doesn't have any info on back story, images, something to tell us what the game is about.  We don't know what you wrote when you were eleven.  Just give us something.  Heck, I can't even tell how old you are now.  How am I supposed to understand the difference of you then and now?

EDIT: Just because you made it in three days doesn't make anything less wrong.  It just makes it careless.

And it took me a few times to read that last sentence you just posted.

Okay should have worded my statement like this: it is supposed to be bad! It's a recreation of what that old game probably looked like. The story is dumb because I'm purposely writing it as I remember it. I didn't rush the maps out in 3 days. I'm great with RTP. I made the maps look the way they would have when I was 11.

And for the record, I just turned 20. :w00t:

But hey, next time I'll reconsider before taking up the space that belongs to all the other completed games on here.

This was made in about 3 days based on an old story I used to write.

It was amde in 3 days. So.... yeah.

but are in fact A part of the fact that it was made in 3 days and B part of the fact that it is based on a story i wrote when i was 11

...You didn't rush out the maps in 3 days?  Okay, then what took 3 days?  You never mentioned that you made it look like you were 11, or that you were making it look like an old game of yours.  You said you wrote the story when you were eleven.  And if it was supposed to be bad, why not take it to crappy games thing...?

I don't understand this topic.  Can someone else help me out here and tell me what I'm missing?

You're not missing anything.
It's just a lot of furious backpedaling because he decided to randomly post a random game that he didn't really like for no apparent reason.

sorry if i wasn't clear. what took three days is that i have a job. a game that would have taken me weeks as a kid coud probably take me 3 days now, so that was my mind set.

and what do you mean by a crappy game things?

I didn't expect anything before I downloaded it, so I am not so much disappointed. Maping is really bad, but dialogue are not so horrible. Of course, dialogue is not good, but I expected worse, as I saw your critics :)
Not memorable, but not the worst i tried.

Hint to everyone everywhere on the planet: putting next to no work into something and then saying "it's supposed to be bad!" is never funny, witty, clever, entertaining, or even a good excuse.

If you're trying to get into the so-bad-its-good category, you have to either a) make something bad and get really REALLY LUCKY and have people like it for some odd reason. This barely ever happens or b) make something very, very well planned and actually quite exceptional and have it wear its badness like a coat when underneath it's a quality, strong, powerful game that is poking fun at itself but not poking so hard that it is actually unplayable.

Look at some of the crappy game reviews Drak does. Some of those “crappy games” have ridiculously more programming and special systems than the average, minimal effort RPGMaker game. People put SERIOUS TIME into making their games frustrating or silly and it shows.

If you don’t put through the effort to do b) and don’t get lucky with a), then what you have left is just a piece of crap and it doesn’t matter how many times you say you didn’t put any effort into it; nobody’s gunna like it or think you're clever.

Wow, Brieg. I'm not a huge fan of RTP chipsets, but as far as mapping goes, you've done a very nice job! :D

He did. I just copied the links and pasted them in my browser. They're pretty kickass as far as RTP goes.
(Remembers own game thread) *cough*

Nice job, Brieg. ;)
