Title: A little help
Post by: newguy99 on July 22, 2013, 08:14:51 PM
Hey everyone, I'm new using the RPG maker but not to rpg games. I've had some story ideas for games for a while now and decided to give it a try. Ill do my best not to ask stupid questions, i have been reading tutorials and stuff to learn.

my questions, is there any way to say build half my map with a chipset then switch chipsets without out it changing the things I built already?

Welcome!

To answer your question you could create an entirely new chipset to include all the things you want on your map.
Or create a lot of charsets that holds the graphic you desire such as flames, waterfalls and plants.

Thanks for the fast response! Ya I tried making my own but only have a POS paint program that ruins the pictures i try to make. i think its cause it ruins the transparency. And what do you mean by character sets? how can i use those graphics on the map I'm building? As an event graphic? sorry like I said I'm still new, I am learning though. Finally I understand variables and switches enough to make some decent events.

Also does anyone have a town chipset with like a ancient desert kind of town?

And yes, you use the charsets as event graphics. Just as you would with NPCs. But instead of placing a person walking around you can place a flame that's burning in it's place.

Transparency issues can be solved when using the import tool in the maker, simply click on the background colour and it will turn transparent in the maker.
