Title: How many colors per charset sheet?

Hi, I am starting to make my own charsets and would like to know the max amount of colors for a charset, chipset and faceset. Thanks in advance. :)

254 colors + white and black (256 total)
I write it out that way because even if you don't use white or black the computer will still think it is a color that needs to be accounted for.

Yeah, but basically. You will most likely need some sort of program to convert it into a 256 colour file even if you only use 24 colours. If you're using something fancy like Photoshop it probably have it as an option already. But if you depend on Paint like me, you're gonna need something to convert if with. I'm using irfanview. Which is basically free and modest. But being able to change the colour depth is useful.

I usually use GraphicsGale when I make rpg maker characters, it's a pretty sweet pixel art tool and can convert the images to 254 colors.

Yeah it's the colour limit of all resources in the maker.
