So, here we are.
Some of you probably followed the "impossible reports" we received from our previous hosting.
If you're interested in that part, details are here (http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=28934.0)
They really pissed me off, so let's sum up a bit of things.
1) GoDaddy may be good for domain management, but definitively confirms to be the WORST COMPANY EVER about hosting.
So, after 6 years there, we're leaving
2) this is the interesting and nice part. Where are we now?
Someone may remember my main task is now on an Online Designer called the RealTimeDesigner (http://www.realtimedesigner.com (http://www.realtimedesigner.com)).
I mentioned this in past because it's really thanks to Charas that now I do that.
Charas is old, but the concept was still the same: generating images online.
From my point of view, I can really call Charas the "Grandpa" of the RealTimeDesigner.
Now... For the RTD I have a big set of dedicated virtualization servers. As I had free space in one of those, I made a virtual server fully dedicated to Charas, and moved everything in there.
This means that, literally, Grandpa and Granchild are now living together in the same home.
Don't know about you, but this looks just RIGHT to me. It's just so nice!
And with this i hereby confirm that, no matter is we will reach ZERO hits, this place will survive. It's memory, history, headaches, joy, training.... everything together.
Not a single one of the "old" RPGMaker communities is still alive. We are, more than 10 years. An ETERNITY, thinking at the Internet.
So, GoodBye GoDaddy, you don't deserve a community of this quality.
And everyone, welcome in Grandchild RealTimeDesigner's home!!!

Oh, and of course CR and everything are back online too :)

Completition of the story. I sent the official request to goDaddy.
Here it is:
Dear Staff,
This is a reaction the Network Violation issue you opened with us [Incident ID: 21881605].
Assuming someone read what I wrote, your behavior and response there was less than helpful.
For this reason, I am now asking a change of the service.
Order had been placed on 8/19/2013.
Receipt#: 584988483
Customer#: 22842596
and this is the item we're discussing about:
Hosting - Shared - Deluxe - Linux - Renewal - 5 years (recurring)
Name: charas-project.net
Item number: 16734-1
Price: $431.52
1) I want to terminate the Hosting with you for the charas-project.net domain.
2) I will keep the domain name on goDaddy.
3) I have already modified the DNS to point it to the new location were we migrated, 209.190.36.46. Kindly, do not change it.
I will consider our relationship for the hosting of Charas-project.net terminated at the end of this Month's cycle - so on 02/20/2014.
Accordingly to your TOS, I also ask you to give a pro-rated in store credit refund of the remaining portion of fees paid for the Services (54 months).
Please confirm all is clear.
Regards,
Alexander Bonivento

So, does this mean all the resources are now on another site? I just looked at the resource page here and there is just one page for everything?
-
You're ruining my Grandpa/Granchild poem...
However, CR are ok now. And as written on top they're not in "another site". The full Charas platform - all inclusive - is now in the RTD servers.
If you care more about the resources, it probably means you're too young to remember what was happening here in the golden Generator Days.
You cannot know this, but here we used to HATE the Complete resources initially :) But it's ok. Even those are history now, and will be preserved.
-
I registered in 2005, but at one point I left because there was a virus on one of the pages. I come every know and then. :)
-
Duh really!
I just looked at your post count, wasn't expecting you really being... from the ancient time. My aplogies. :)
How many old pals are still around here?
-
Well that explains why things went down during the day then.
Glad to see that things are back up, you almost made me suspect a conspiracy.
-
Yeah, good to see we'll still be going strong. Too bad about the bad host.
-
How many old pals are still around here?
2005 here. Yeah, not part of the oldest old pals, but still part of some older old pals. I've seen many thing happen here.
I feel this change will be for the best. Feel, and hope. I mean, it certainly can't be worst. Talk about bad customer service. They remind me of the amazing service provided by those idiots from my previous Internet provider. Unrelated, though.
So yeah. Cheers.
-
2004 : ) Still love charas.
If I haven't been posting here as much it's because I feel guilty about taking so long to complete my part of the chain game (which is NEARLY FINISHED) :p
-
Oh, right, year sharing. 2005 here.
-
swag
-
I joined like a month after archem or something.
BTW, charas no longer works with peer blocker active it seems :(
-
I joined like a month after archem or something.
Indeed. And we were immediately at each others' throats for some reason.
Glad that's not the case anymore. I hate reminding myself of how stupid I was nearly a decade ago.
-
A decade... Well. I joined in 2004 as well. Come July it will be officially 10 years for me. Wow. I guess I chose the right rpgm forum to join ten years ago!
-
I'm not sure when I joined exactly. but I'm glad you're still here. :-[
-
Somehow, I first read your name as "Terrariaonline".
Also, you registered on February the 13th, in 2010 at exactly 21:07:36.

This makes me happier than you could know.
Even if I don't drop by very often. Even if it's sort of an outdated site (not too outdated - I just got RPG Maker VX Ace at 75% off on Steam, and it looks like they'll be able to use old-style resources without too much headache!). Even if my nephews never feel the same way about hobbyist programming that I do.
It makes me glad to know that this place survives, and that it is likely to keep on surviving. (Hope you keep appropriate backups as well.)
Also: Holy cow, I'm from 2004! I've been here (off and on) for ten years now almost exactly. Registered near the end of college, it seems. Well! Here's hoping I see this site last another ten years.
