Title: Chipset Floor Piece help
Post by: evmaster on February 25, 2014, 04:22:47 PM

So, I've been working on my own chipsets. However, I have come across a problem. I been trying to correct the blue carpet with the yellow lining. I know I it has something to do with the chipset piece as I have been looking back and forth and making little changes and seeing what changes in the game as I import the chipset piece again and again. I'm missing the knowledge as to how  to draw these on the tileset and make it form right in the game.

Does anyone know what I am talking about or how this works?

Just tell me what I need to add or change.

Thanks in advance.

I know what you're talking about and I will try to explain it.

However, what exactly is wrong with yours right now is harder to pinpoint since the screenshot isn't in full size. So I can't just open it in paint and check it.
Explanation will come soon.

Okay, good it worked.
So, in the top picture we can see exactly what parts go where. Notice how the top left and top middle tiles do absolutely nothing? Yeah, they do that. The top left is what appears in the tileset in the maker, but isn't actually used to make anything on a map.

So whenever you make a make something, the chipset will take 8x8 pxls (half) of a tile and make it happen.
Also notice how the absolute middle of the "square" is only used when there's at least one of the same tile in each direction? And that one will be used whenever you fill an entire place with the same tile. The rest is just corners bordering to other tiles.
Also notice the white line of the corners appearing? That should give you a hint on what's wrong with your chipset.

Second picture:
We now see what the tileset would look like if each part of it wasn't colour coded. But those yellow edges are kinda thick right?

Third picture:
if you look at the "corner cross" you can see that the outer corners are yellow, to represent the corners folding out. The inside is blue, for the inside of a figure.

So in an attempt to do this more wordy:

To make corners work, the corner piece should each be the same thickness of the desired "border". The inside of this cross repressents what will appear towards the middle. And the corners represents what will appear towards the outside.

Whenever something is a small line or whatever, the chipset wants to create borders towards all sides. This makes the chipset pick and choose from available parts. Usually by taking 1/2 or 1/4 of a tile and making it work

So just make sure that the thickness of all borders are the same, and that the inside of the cross is the inside of what you make. Also, that the 2 top left things don't matter. I hope that made some sense

Check how? Like the "let me know if there's a new reply to my thread"-email thing?

At the top right of the forum page there is a link called

"Show new replies to your post".

It use to work fine but now it is always error and said something like to contact an administrator.

Will it ever be fixed?
