What did you want to be when you grew up, and what do you do now?
When I was a really little kid I wanted to be an architect because I thought they just sat around and drew pictures of houses all day. Now I'm an actor and story developer.
-
What didn't I want to be? Then life hit and I had to throw away a thousand dreams. But hey, I got a bachelor in programming with a specialisation in game development so I guess one dream came true.
-
I've pretty much wanted to be a teacher ever since I was really little. Now I'm a semester away from a Bachelor of science in Music Education.
-
I wanted to be a hero and save the world and slay dragons. Turns out there is little demand for that occupation these days.
-
It's not that Prpl, it's that the dragons evolved into music corporations and reality show producers. There's enough saving the damsels, just look at Miley Cyrus and Arianna Grande.
-
I never knew what I wanted to be when I was a kid, and that's exactly what I grew up to be.
-
I wanted to be a comic book artist / writer and for a while I wanted to be an author. Now I'm a video game developer, been running my own company for three year next month together with a friend.
-
I wanted to be an architect as well. I became a doctor (of pharmacy) instead.
EDIT - I'm interested in seeing how many forum goers here became software/game devs.
-
I wanted to be an astronaut when I was little. Then I wanted to be a writer. Then I wanted to be a composer. Now I want to be/am a writer. In about ten years I'll probably want to be an astronaut again, to complete the arc.
-
I'm a bug tester now. What did I want to be? A paleontologist when I was very young, then a game designer? I've always wanted to make a living out of music but that feels more like a dream than a goal.
-
I teach English in elementary schools in Japan.
I wanted to be an actor. Could still happen I guess.
-
I'm an assistant manager at 7-11 and hate everything about everything everywhere.
I wanted to be a baseball player. But didn't have the coordination. Or speed. Or reflexes. Can play pitcher for slow-pitch softball though. Got a mean arc.
-
I'm also a "bug tester", although the "official" term is Functionality Quality Assurance Tester. Which sounds better, and more professional. But still, game tester is more understandable.
What did I want to be? Uhm... Well, I once wanted to be an Archaeologist. But that was a long while ago. After that, my interest was science. And it still is. Working in a laboratory and stuff.
Perhaps when I start motivating, I'll try to work toward doing something in that domain.
For now, I'll keep trying my best to ensures released games are bug free!
-
I wanted and became a lawier, just to realise how much it sucks. And now I dunno what to do.
I may try and start writing. We'll see.
-
I wanted to drive trains. What a bum gig that would've ended up being.
