I had an issue that I wanted to discuss in a support forum but the board which appears to be used for this (http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?board=43.0) is locked to new topics. So I decided to post what's on my mind here in this off-topic section as it seems most appropriate.
1) I want to mention that I think it would be a good idea to have an area of the forum where members can post about issues/support for the site and forums or unlock the "Rules, Help, and Support" board.
2) I think it is a major PITA to post to the forums. When I first signed up I thought the security was a little overboard, but is wasn't really a big issue since I figured it was a one-time thing & wouldn't be required to deal with it after I proved myself to not be a bot at sign up. When I realized that I had to use the same anti-bot fields for every post I was a little annoyed. Then I noticed the shortcuts & tried to use them but still I had to fill in the fields. I just spent about two whole minutes just trying to post a topic because I couldn't find a legible image. If this is a security feature only for new users who aren't established in the forums then I guess it is okay (although I still think it is overboard). But if it is a permanent thing I would think that it would deter users from contributing & I hope that the owners would re-think toning it down a bit. And no, I didn't read through all of the forum rules & information that was provided to me when I signed up. I am sorry if I missed information about this but I do not have time to read all details about every forum I join for support. I try to use a general set of rules when posting to any forum.
Also, I am sorry if this has already been discussed in the forums. I did not find the topic.

The Rules, Help, and Support board complaint is a valid one, but we're a small, relaxed community these days, so the board has fallen into a state of being unused. Feel free to bring things up here, though. AoA is for, well, just about anything.
The Captcha thing is, as I understand it, very annoying. I also understand that it goes away after you hit a certain post count (don't know what that number is), so keep hope alive until you get there. We're undergoing some reworks and changes (and have been for a while now), so some of your complaints are for known issues and have pending fixes. Given the slow rate of change, I would like to apologize in advance if nothing solid materializes anytime too soon, but the people with the power to change things are indeed working towards improving the place.

The capthcha was our last resort against the bot invasion that happened. I could log on and find up to 10 new spammy threads across the forum at times.
We're working on improving stuff ( I hope) so that the captcha won't be necessary. But some bots still manage to get through that captcha and post like 2-3 posts. I find that amazing.
