Title: Majoras Mask 3DS
Post by: Prpl_Mage on November 05, 2014, 11:52:39 PM
So the 3ds remake is happening, as expected I guess.

Codename steam for the 3ds, looks kinda like Valkyria chronicles meets fire emblem. But with famous American people?
Something called Sonic Boom on the E-store and Persona Q will be released. Then some trailer for the mario bros outfits for your felynes in monster hunter 4 and animated short movies of pikmin. And some gameplay footage of xenoblade chronicles X

Also, additional uses for the Smash amiibos. (mario kart and hyrule warriors). And well, Duck hunt character reveal trailer.

I was so pumped for Codename Steam when they initially teased it for e3.  Fire Emblem making a Valkyria Chronicles?!  Hells yeah I'm on board.  However after seeing the game in action, its just so... ugly.  I usually don't let aesthetics influence my opinions of the game, but the game just visually looks terrible.  I'm sure the gameplay is solid, but I hate steam punk, and the art direction just looks terrible.  I may give it a shot, but I just can't get on board with it, which is incredibly depressing.

Aside from that, there was nothing really worth mentioning this Direct.  Majora's Mask started strong but excitement instantly plummeted and did not recover.  That isn't to say X and the Mario Kart are bad, but it's all old information.  There was nothing really all that interesting aside from the amiibo integration, but that'll just be Nintendo grabbing more money from my wallet so I can race with a Captain Falcon helmet so I can pretend there's a new F-Zero.

SIDE NOTE:  I have two US Diancie codes if anyone wants any.  Otherwise I'll just gift them on GameFaqs or something.

That Diancie event started today or something over here so no need.

I have my fingers crossed for a master quest in the remake. Low chance of happening, but one can hope right?

Speaking of XBCX, heres some ear candy. U can definitely hear that its the same composer as Attack On Titan.

Just gonna continue this thread with what has been revealed at blizzcon so far.
They are working on something called Overwatch, besides the trailer that kinda looks like something from full animated movie there wasn't a lot of actual information beside the sci fi fps thing.
The second expansion for Star craft 2 is being worked on, protoss stuff.
Heroes of storm had some new heroes and battlefields and stuff, will leave alpha and enter beta in January.
Also, warlords of draenor releses in 5 days.

You know that will never happen. It makes far too much money.

Make a new Warcraft RTS
That will also never happen. Warcraft is an MMO these days. Word has it that they're making a World of Warcraft 2. It's like this: Starcraft is Blizzard's RTS series, Warcraft is (now) their MMO series (and card game series, I guess), Diablo is their hack 'n' slash series, and Overwatch will be their FPS series. That's just the best way for them to make money. No company is more interested in making customers happy more than they're interested in making money.

Well it kinda feels like WoW might be on its' last legs now. All the expansions beside Warlords of Draenor is now included in the standard edition of the game, no need to buy Mist of Pandaria or cataclysm because it's all there. Or maybe it was just a great move that had to be done. Was probably a bit hard to get people to start playing the game when you tell them "You need the game and then 3 expansions, also monthly fee".

And no, will probably not see another warcraft RTS, starcraft was so much more successful in the world with tournaments and stuff, Starcraft 2 has proven to be really successful in that area as well. And if you want a hero lead RTS you might as well play a Dota type game instead like all them kids. It's pretty much the best part of warcraft 3 refined into what the players really liked about it.

Donno how I feel about Overwatch after looking at the gameplay video. My first thought is Team Fortress or quake, but I donno how long they can wait before the idea becomes outdated. Kinda like heroes of storm. I love that they don't rush games, but they kinda need to step it up.

Also, Season 1 of Diablo3 might be comming to a close since they announced some expected news for Season 2. Just wish I had more character slots left....

Absolutely. After over a decade, the game's hit saturation, so nobody's buying a new copy of WoW these days. Everyone who was going to buy it already has, and the same goes for the expansions. If someone hasn't already bought the game and the other expansions, it all seems like too much money to spend on a game that they've already missed the boat on. They're really only trying to sell the new expansion, and throwing in things that wouldn't be bought by anyone anyway only makes it an easier sell. It's the same as their recent decision to add the ability to buy a max-level character; it's all about milking the last few sales out of the game before they need to spend some money to make a new one (which, again, is rumored to be well into development by now).

> Blizzard is working on a TF2 clone named Overwatch
> Project Steam as revealed in the recent Nintendo Direct has a defensive stance called Overwatch

Jesus, is everyone everywhere an XCOM fan?!

Don't forget when Half-Life 2's Combine central radio broadcast was referred to as "Overwatch".

Let's not jump to conclusions. It's all coincidence.

Well they can't keep calling it "the watchtower".

Anyway, PS3 tactical shooter Valkyria Chronicles mentioned above will be released on steam in 2 days in case you've always wanted to play it but didn't have a PS3. Only 18€ as well.

Afraid I don't really care for the zelda remake. I'd have been excited for ORAS, though, if I had a 3DS (which I don't, and no plans of getting one any time soon). I'm actually completely video game free these days (other than pc games, and even then it's just BOI: Rebirth really). Growing up sucks.

I've been growing tired of Smash on the 3DS (partly due to the fact the controls are uncomfortable to me and partly because of Project M 3.5,) but my 3DS rarely gets use unless I get a new game, and unless I get addicted to a game (Fire Emblem, Resident Evil, Layton) I never complete it (like Super Mario 3D Land.) I didn't play the Ocarina remake when it came out, but I'll likely be picking up Majora's as I had planned to replay it but never got around.

Anyway, Overwatch looks rad and I'd likely play it if I wouldn't be in college by the time it comes out. Gah.
