Title: Xenoblade Chronicles X Discussion
Post by: daoman89 on February 07, 2015, 10:21:31 PM
So yesterday a bunch of details were compiled into a video for the next Xeno installment.  Lots of things were explained which I did not understand because I don't speak japanese.  Translations were made and summed up what was basically shown.  So anyways...

This potential masterpiece will people enjoyed in the home of many japanese gamers on April 29th while we wait... and wait.... and wait for translations so it can be localized.  It will run at 720p and supports 4 player online coop and 32 minor online stuffs like trading items and info.

As for the graphics.  Environments look stunning and the draw distance is great.  Character models are ok, a lot of hate towards them from everywhere online.  They did grow on me, kind of how Xenoblade for wii's character models did.  This doesn't look as good as Final Fantasy XV so I've concluded that this game will suck because graphics are the most important aspect of games and how pretty it is.  Goddammit I saw a tiny rock texture that wasn't perfect, so that's a huge loss in points.  Smh...  It's a shame people get suckered into buying games that have pretty visuals and learn that the game is terrible.  But onto the most important aspect of a game...  The gameplay! :O

If you enjoyed the battle system of XC, you'll like this one even better since it's polished and has Dolls.  They haven't shown many battles though, mostly just how grand the world in the game is.  Traversing the world will be very enjoyable making discoveries all over the place in the massive "see it, you can go there" landscapes.  XC veterans know they wanted to fly in those mechons if they could, and now we have that in this!  Not exactly mechons, but close enough.  And the online 4 player coop will be awesome because you can take on quests kind of like Monster Hunter, but with more RPG elements.

The story is... well... I don't know.  We don't know much about it other than something happens and you're on a different planet called Mira trying to survive.  I have no worries about the story being less interesting than XC because it was stated that it wouldn't be and this game allows the story to go into different directions based on decisions you make to help BLADE keep humanity in existence.  Will there be Homs?  I don't know.  Nopons yes.

I'm really looking forward to this game and I'm definitely not the only one.  It is funny however how many negative comments about the game's graphics and how FFXV will be better are all over the internet.  I wouldn't get my hopes up for FFXV for what they did to FF fans with the FFXIII trilogy I doubt many people wanted.  I have no personal opinions on XIII because I have not played it. But anyways... here's the video for you to see if you haven't already.

See, I don't like that its bringing multiplayer into it. There is a real lack of quality SP rpgs that have xeno's style.

I prefer single player RPGs, but it definitely has potential.  We know very little about it, so I'll save my final judgment about it when I see some actual footage.  I doubt it will affect the story much, if at all.

Am I being unfair for thinking that this will have some similarities to the gameplay of GTA rather than Xenoblade? Maybe it's just the Vice city-ish part of the city but still.
I didn't notice them mentioning anything about coop though.

I will probably pick it up, but I fear that they have changed a bunch of stuff that made me love the previous one. But I'll give it a shot.
Also, FFXV (previously known as FFXIII VS) has been delayed for so long that I don't really have any hope for it. When they release an actual gameplay trailer I will judge it just like I just judged Xenoblades. But there's no real need to do that until then. Also, FFXIII and FFXIII2 are both on steam now and it's a Squareenix publisher week.
Also, Valkyria Chronicles 50% off if you ever wanted to play it.

Aside from the killing massive amounts of people lol.  But I did get that feel as well.  I'm curious to how the other cities in the game look because i loved the way the nopon village was designed in XC.  What changes did they make that made you love the first one?  If it's the awesome cutscenes i'm 99% sure they haven't shown any of X's yet.

I actually just downloaded FFXIII to play eventually.  I have to beat X and XII first though.  It's my rule.  As for FFXV I find that whole boyband road trip pretty gay.  I've seen a video of the designers talking about how they made the running animations of the characters similar to how real people run up hills.  It's good to know they're focused on such pointless details rather than trying to make the game fun.  That's what it seems like to me anyways.

The 4 player coop was mentioned on the eshop screen information for japan.  Xenoblade trailers have pretty much been all gameplay except for that short story trailer.  I really wanna hear the english dub though to see if it'll be any good.  I have faith it will be though.

Well, the "gamplay trailers" of FFXIII turned out to be quite different from the gameplay of the released product so I'm waiting until later in development until I can say for sure. That's why I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

First of all, skip 12, you'll thank me for it. It's just starwars with the worst version of the final fantasy universe. Also, I find it kinda hilarious how an American would diss the road trip aspect of it since there is so much litterature and stuff about - roadtrips - all guys from your side of the ocean. Pretty sure they added it just for you. Oh god, now I can't stop picturing the game to be a rippoff of On the Road where one of your party members are constantly getting high and having sex with prostitutes.

Also, I'm not sure what it is that I'm lacking but the Brittish voiceactors is one of the things at least. I just really want to know how much Shulk is feeling it.

I'm not the only American dissing, trust me.  I don't wanna play a road trip, I can do that in real life.  I highly doubt they'd make a major part of the game about driving in the car other than a means for transportation.  And if we're talking about additions for us 'mericans it would be to make it a FPS.  Call of Duty is a part of our culture.  I'm sure XV won't be terrible unless that creators of XIII think they made masterpieces.  Therefore, adding all the mistakes that were in XIII trilogy.

I can't skip XII cause it's on my shelf chilling there staring at me.

I doubt the NLA characters will have british voices because dammit, they're americans.  That'd be weird.  However, they should have British accents for one of the other races, say nopons or whatever.  My brother will probably play it in japanese voices because he hates dubs.  He says they overact and suck.  Me on the other hand can't stand japanese voices for the most part.  Those high pitched females voices are just UUUGGGHHH!

I liked 12. I mean, it wasn't as good as some others ff titles but I still had fun playing it.

I liked XII as well, but XII is a really long game compared to the other Final Fantasy games. If you're in a rush to get to XIII or XIII-2, consider doing XII after those.

Also, back on subject: I missed out on Xenoblade Chronicles, so I'm probably gonna pick up the 3DS port when it drops (Yes, I have a New 3DS, so that isn't an issue.) then go for the new one if I like it. I have a Wii U, I might as well.

Back on the topic of Final Fantasy XV, I really hope it comes to PC, because I don't wanna have to buy a PS4 for it. There have been plenty of 'gameplay' trailers, and a lot of them look very similar to Kingdom Hearts's Hack 'n slash/RPG hybrid combat system, which I am a huge fan of. If that's the case and the trailers aren't 100% misleading, then I think we'll all be in for a treat. To be fair, I don't particularly care about graphics, as a matter of fact, the worse they are, the more likely they'll run on my laptop. (GT650m, I can run most things at decent quality 1920x1200, so not horrible.) When it comes to a Final Fantasy/RPG, I care about several things, first and foremost is the battle system, second is story/characters, third is world/atmosphere.

Btw, this is the gameplay trailer for FFXIII that got me hyped for tyhe "kingdom hearts hack and slash hybrid" Apex mentioend above.

Final Fantasy 13 Gameplay (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUPT5rwj1HE#ws)

But the battle system didn't turn out like that.

Also, FF12 isn't especially long. Just how FFIX isn't especially long. It's just the battle system that drags it out if you insist on fighting every battle.

Wow, look at that linear pathway!  Length isn't an issue.  I'm in no rush to play XIII lol.

Back to XCX!

The world map was revealed, whether or not it's the entire one is another question, but here it is.

It's pretty damn big.  It'd be cool if there were two more continents in the empty spaces below the northern ones.

Actually, I was talking about the FFXV trailer.

Final Fantasy XV Gameplay (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBilT83Uq4A)

The reason Kingdom Hearts 3 hasn't been in the works, is because that particular studio has been working on this game for years.

Trailer clearly says it's a work in progress, and that the gameplay may change. Regardless, I think that looks pretty fun.

Besides, these are two very different games, why do we have to compare them? I plan on enjoying both.

Yeah I know you talked about your trailer. I'm just saying that I won't get my hopes up until it's released. Even FFXIII was planned to be the hybrid, but the end result was auto-combat where you only "control" 1 character and if that character dies it's game over. So yeah, that's why I'm a bit sceptical.
For example, in the video you just posted there's a lot of actions done by the player that I suspect are all precoded in that scenario alone that you can't really do on your own. So yeah.

I think we compare them since they are pretty much the only 2 big RPGs being worked on at the moment, or pseudo RPGs, not the classical ABS at least.

Nah, will probably not be any more areas on the world map. In the trailer we could clearly see that they covered all the rpg necessary climates: Grassy plains, snowy mountains, rocks and desert, swamp and last volcano.

I just remembered another thing. The characters look more like they are from a Star Ocean game rather than the Vagrant Story style I was thinking about in XC 1.

I think that was the biggest issue (thankfully corrected in 13 2... kinda). XIII's combat would've felt really great if you could change the character you're controlling on the fly, and didn't have to prioritize keeping yourself alive above all else. If that had been implemented, it might have been a really great game. Kinda funny how simple restrictions can ruin a game. I worry about that myself with my own creations.

I don't think there's snow.  Those are dandilions man!  But there might be a sub area of snow hopefully.  I just wanna see some ice lol in such a gorgeous world.  All the continents have some subareas, well maybe not so much primordial wilderness.
