Title: This is my Hello, even though I've used this site for over 10+ years now.
Post by: Zazenora on June 04, 2016, 06:42:33 PM
Hello everyone. I've finally decided to make a (NEW) account on here. (Can't seem to remember my old one, I just remember posting one time on here waaaaaaay back about my Eternal Cloud Project, which I'm revamping as we speak.) I'm into a little of everything in the game-dev world, with certain strengths (RPG Maker!) and weaknesses (Unity3d). I feel as though I've all but hit my limits as of now with what I can do and what I want to do with game development. So now (after the misery and wallowing in my own depression) I've pulled myself back up out of this slump and have decided to simplify EVERYTHING about my dream projects and go back to the roots that first turned these wheels grinding in my head.
What does this mean?
I plan on becoming an active member of this community, and I'm glad to see its grown so much over the years that I have been absent from scavenging resources and looking for inspiration. I have a more serious attitude regarding my older projects now, and I'd really like to give some things back to this community for all the days and hours I've spent on here without even a peep.
I appreciate everyone, seriously, that's ever uploaded and contributed to this website. This used to be (in my opinion, probably still is in some ways) the forefront for avid and to-be game developers from a generation past. Plus, RPG Maker 2003 is still the ****! No other RPG Maker compares with the resources that have been poured into it. You will never find another place like this out there with so much to offer.

So there's my big long ***-kissing intro. :) Hello everyone, and I hope to find some belonging here.

Hey hey! An oldie who's also a newbie? Awesome! From 10 years ago too. That means you were on the same time as me! That's rare. o.o Hmm Eternal Cloud sounds somewhat familiar. Was that back when Carpe' Diem and Apathy of Angels were beign updated semi-regularly.

I remember reading about Carpe Diem. Not sure about the other one, it's been so long ago lol. I'll be 25 in september lol if that tells you about how long I've been on and off of this site. I remember the main person in charge used to be a guy named Alex. I remember when the first tilesets and charsets were being added here ripped from Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. The fun I had making my own final fantasy games haha. :] I just remember posting one topic about Eternal Cloud back then, it was an attempt to get some help with the project, but life ended up calling and I had to put in on halt.
I've done away with RPG Maker MV for now and have decided to go back to 2003 to make the first entry in the Eternal Cloud series using mainly the standard RTP. (With some small edits here and there.)
Thanks for the warm welcome :D. This place brings back so much nostalgia lol

Welcome (back)!

Glad to hear that you have a lot of passion for the software and the development of games.

Thanks. I'm very happy to be here. I'll be providing some new resources later on when I get to the point in my project development where I feel comfortable with the workflow to begin re-creating the graphics for my game from scratch. As of now I'm only using RTP resources with minor edits I've made.

Thanks everyone, and I can't get out haha... I've been hooked to this site since I first discovered it. :yell:
I'm sure this idea has crossed alot of peoples minds but I'd like to ask it, and if there is already a topic explaining my question please point me in the right direction, but as old as this site it, why hasn't there been a resources section dedicated to the newer RPG Makers? I've come across some RPG Maker XP resources from time to time while searching through the vast amounts of charsets, but wouldn't it be easier to have their own groups? As much as this site has accumulated and inspired others to create resources. (There is more resources on this site, and perfectly organized compared to every other resource collection I've ever seen) If it's as simple as no one has just ever got around to it, I'd be happy to help out.
I'd say there is a good reason as to why, but if there is a chance it could happen here, I think it'd draw a good crowd back into the community and give it a new breath of life.
