Title: SGDQ
Post by: Prpl_Mage on July 02, 2016, 06:39:32 AM
So it's time for Summer Games Done Quick again, the initiative to collect money for doctors without borders by speedrunning games live. The event starts tomorrow and is up for a week. See some tremendously skilled players beat your games, or watch some glitch you never knew existed. Most of all, enjoy watching and donate something to the cause.

The event starts with Super mario Sunshine beaten in 1.23, that's pretty impressive right? A few other interesting games comming up is Demon Souls, Metroid Prime, New super mario bros, Serious sam and so on. Why not check the schedule?

Alright! I've been waiting for this to start up! I have to work tomorrow, so I'll miss out on a few things, but at least I can catch Super Mario Sunshine and part of A Link Between Worlds before I have to be there.

I was kind of hoping that the new Doom would be present, but I guess it's still too early for a refined run to exist. Still, there are already some great runs for it on YouTube. Maybe the next one will have it. It's already being run in close to an hour, so by the time it's on a GDQ marathon, I'm sure it'll be insane.

SGDQ is about raising money for charity. It's not a quick cash-making scheme.

Well, if you're streaming with ads and donations, I guess you can make money from virtually anything. But that's beside the point.

You can make money by playing Runescape or LoL with a Twitch channel but as Archem said, this is about raising money for charity.

I wasn't saying I was gonna take the money and run leavign the poor charity high and dry did I? $.$ Imean it's not like there's dollar signs in my eyes!.....$o$ Much.

XD Nah I was just fascinated with the idea that you can make money gaming like that. I'll have to bring that up next time somebody says gaming can't be a career. Hmm not sure I'm a good enough gamer at those kind of games though. Heck I replayed FF8 for drens and giggles and guess what? I couldn't beat the first boss even with Quezacoatl. -.-; I used to be able to do it without too much concentration. I mean there's a reason I almost never get tired of turn based games. I can usually beat the heck out of one if I'm given even a inch of wiggle room....but I think I'm getting older and slower. Deosn't help I haven't played anything but indie games lately. ^^;

This Jak and Daxter run is the best 100% speedrun of Jak and Daxter  played at SGDQ in Minnesota in 2016 at 2AM EVER.

It's also the most entertaining thing I've seen in quite some time. The runner and the couch made the whole thing pure gold. If you're sensible people who aren't up at 2-3 in the morning on a Wednesday and didn't get to see it, you really need to. Two hours of wonder and magic. Definitely my favorite run this year.

I haven't had the chance to watch any of it yet this year. I always get excited for the Super Metroid finale though.

I'm so glad I actually caught the tail end of this. Super Mario RPG run was great. Love that game.
