Title: Good deals and sales
Post by: Prpl_Mage on April 03, 2018, 06:13:44 AM
So, at the moment the Super Smash-esque game Rivals of Aether is 67% off if any of you are interested n that.

On PSN you can get the Witcher 3 at 50% and most of the Jackbox games at 80% off.

Also my favorite point and click Curse of Monkey Island was released on steam as well. Then I realized that I played it 20 years ago...

Btw, anyone played Mass Effect Andromeda? Haven't really heard anything about it.

All I've heard about Andromeda is that the facial animations are atrocious, but not too much about the gameplay. I guess no news is good news?

I'm a huge fan of the JackBox games. I totally recommend them for social events for 4+ people.

Everybody I know says Andromeda sucks but one freind did give it a good review on it's AI Tactics. Though the people who say it sucks never clarify why they think it does...I have heard there's a whack moment in the story that annoyed some people too.

So browsing the PSN store I notived Dark Cloud 1 and 2 (Chronicles) at 70% off. So like $4. Just had to get them.

Also, how come no one really made any game like those these past 16 years? Thought they had some good systems to keep it interesting.

If you are a Nep fan then most parts of the series are 70% off on steam at the moment. Not sure how well they work on PC however. Only played the original triology on ps3

There is also a paradox sale, but those games have honestly never interested me...

35 years of Steam already? My, how time flies!

Yeah I'm not sure Steam has been around for 35 year or what the sale really is about. I remember steam for playing the original Counter Strike. Of course that was my brother's account and I didn't get my own until much later.

Anyone got any good advice for the Steam summer sale? It kinda feels like I got everything I need but I'm open for suggestions of course.

Multiplayer is probably what I'm looking for atm, got enough singleplayer games on consoles for a lifetime now. Also, no access to that computer now so...

Deep Rock Galactic (https://store.steampowered.com/app/548430/Deep_Rock_Galactic/) is pretty neat. It's a co-op shooter with deformable terrain similar to the original Red Faction. The actual game is like Minecraft's cave exploration, but more goal-oriented and more action-heavy. Online only.

Gang Beasts (https://store.steampowered.com/app/285900/Gang_Beasts/) is a physics-based brawler where you try to ring-out your opponents. It's silly, the controls are awkward, and it's an absolute blast. Local or online play.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (https://store.steampowered.com/app/252110/Lovers_in_a_Dangerous_Spacetime/) is a cooperative spaceship game. It's a little bit ship management, a little bit shmup, a little bit tricky terrain navigation, and kind of unique in plenty of ways. It's tough, it requires coordination, and while it's technically possible to play solo, you really want to have friends. Local only.

N++ (https://store.steampowered.com/app/230270/N_NPLUSPLUS/) is the sequel to N+, which is itself the sequel to the legendary Flash platformer N. You've probably heard of it. If not, it's a straight-forward platformer that's known for its fluid movement and high difficulty. Really good time, especially with friends. Local only.

Screencheat (https://store.steampowered.com/app/301970/Screencheat/) is a throwback to the glory days of splitscreen multiplayer. Back in the glory days of couch multiplayer, everyone had that one friend in the group who would look at everyone's screen to learn where they were and get an unfair advantage. Maybe you were that friend. Screencheat is built on that idea, going so far as to always have a split screen (even online) and makes every player invisible. The only way to find out where other players are is to screencheat. Very novel, lots of fun. Local or online play.

Duck Game (https://store.steampowered.com/app/312530/Duck_Game/) is a fantastic 2D shooter where all players try to be the last man standing. Fairly straight-forward deathmatch gameplay, so much fun. Local or online play.

Pac=Man 256 (https://store.steampowered.com/app/455400/PACMAN_256/) takes the classic Pac=Man formula and makes it into a sort of endless runner. It works really well, and features power-ups and a great co-op mode. Local only.

Genital Jousting (https://store.steampowered.com/app/469820/Genital_Jousting/) is, uh, pretty NSFW. It's a little like Snake, but you're trying to put your "snake" inside of the other players' "snakes" without them putting their "snakes" inside of you. There are other modes that involve less penetration, but who wants that? Local or online play.

Honorable Mention

Stardew Valley (https://store.steampowered.com/app/413150/Stardew_Valley/) has a co-op mode that's launching soon, and has an opt-in beta available. It's not technically multiplayer right now, and you've probably already played it a lot, but it's a great way to spend time with a friend. Online only.

Alas with Duel Links I don't play much of anything else unless I get in a Skyrim/RPG maker mood lol I need to get back to beating Divinty so I can  be nice and ready by time till the sequel is less pricy.

Fairune Collection, it's not on sale but it's pretty cheap anyway. It's a puzzle adventure/exploration game. Some of the puzzles might be a bit obscure but overall I really like it.

So apparently it's Single's Day? Yet another consumer holiday. Reminds me of that old "How I met your mother" episode wher Barney tried to do "Not-a-father's day" a thing.

Anyway, like Black Friday some weeks from now this seems to be targeted towards online sale, but not steam or the other console stores. So not really mainstram yet

It's been going for a few days, but the Humble Store is doing a fall sale that has some pretty good deals.
