Title: Future Contests / Events? (Poll)
Post by: Prpl_Mage on March 03, 2019, 05:33:32 PM
I'm starting this just to see what kind of events / contests would be interesting for the members who are "active" and all of you guys who just keeps stalking the board without posting. (I know you're out there, I'm the Admin).

The last two years have been kinda empty with other types of forums fulfilling most needs; Reddit, 4chan, twitch, discord, social media etc.
Meanwhile a 16 year old RPG maker isn't becoming more popular. Especially since the Steam version was released which effectively made all the old illegal pirated versions even more pirated and illegal (and to be honest, RPGM2k3 only became popular since it was pirated which let a lot of people use it). However, the complete resource and the charset maker etc is still seeing a lot of activity, that isn't gone.

So as sole admin I figured we can shape the forum to suit what people want, but then I need to know what kind of role Charas should play. And for that I made one of my first stupid polls. I tried to be as general as possible, feel free to write a post where you express your opinion, not only about contests and events but also about the forum in general.

I actually think you might be wrong on the impact Steam had on 2003 but I'll save that for later.

I know many would see us become like RPGmaker.net. sleek, easy to operate and relevant to most people at a mention. I used to think that but then I joined their forums and found them not at all friendly like we are. =\ Actually the only thing of theirs I envy is the setup of how you can browse games in an efficient manner and their diversity of engine types. I would like to see us try and make our stuff even more easy to access and try to welcome in newblood in engines. Stay semi-revelant but not go all crazy.

Well put, my vote for spriting and mapmaking. But really wouldn't mind writing either or game-making. Think the game making one is the hardest to do though, probably would need at least a couple of weeks if not a month or two for an event like that. At least going by our track record.
