Title: RPG Maker Unity
Post by: Fisherson on May 10, 2023, 05:21:46 PM
Been a hot minute since I made a new thread on here not about a Chain Game but I think this is worth it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im-7_Esxnvg

So this is a video showing, from pretty reliable source, what all is in RM Unity and guys I think this maker could revitalize our efforts and finally provide software outside of RM 2003 for us to use. It's got so many good features. The price tag is a bit much but we all know the developers and steam always have sales. I do foresee this one being the one to start making more advanced Chains in. Not saying we should kick RM 2003 mind. She'll always be my favorite since I've spent 15+ years working with her and know 'er like the back of my hand but we should consider if we want to make better games in the future maybe using Unity is all humble 'ol Fish is positing.

I only got 2 seconds into the video before bailing but I agree it'd be fun to try this : )

Yeah, I couldn't stand the video.

It looks cool. If it's just straight up unity and it's not too much of a hassle to get it to play nice with the regular unity features you could do cool stuff with it. Do I want to work in it? No, I already spend 8 hours a day in unity for work, don't really want to do it on my spare time as well.

I'm good, I really miss this place I spent an enormous amount of time here and had the best time! Been checking my deviant-art as well, saw some folks from back in the day there too. Happy to see this place is still going!

I think a core of us just habitually check the main page in case there's any activity hehe. The main thing we still do as a site is the rpgmaker chain games... We should be starting one up soon if you fancy getting involved.

Oh I really wish I could! I haven't touched RPG Maker in years, unfortunately! The only thing I have time to do in my free time is maybe play a little guitar.

Though I'm very happy to see your guys are still going, any cool games I should check out?

Glad to see a number of folks are still around and kicking (and screaming) makes an old lurker happy. I really should get back to writing/drawing, a lot of my old projects gather dust.

Games as in mainstream? No they're all stinky and cost upwards of 70$ for some inane reason. Check out Itchi.io page instead!

The two I think most people even non-Charasians like are Spring Valley and Juno's Odyssey though given you said you like Guitar you would be remiss to check out what we did in Heart of Gold. Also you made appearance way back in Wrath of Gaia in the full Charas Pub near the end chapters of the game if you want to go check that out. o.o; Can't rightly remember if you were one of the ones I forgot to give dialogue because of time constraints and sleep deprivation....also literally fitting everyone I knew into one location. To this day still my greatest achievement here I think personally. XD

Honestly, y'all should give Godot 4 a chance. If you've ever tried your hand at ruby/js/python then it'll click pretty quick. It's free, has a great community, and just does everything you wanted RPGMaker to do, but better than GameMaker promised it could.
