Title: BattleChar Generator?
Post by: JeremaiSealocke on April 12, 2003, 06:33:18 PM
Excuse for the slightly out of place condition of this topic, but nothing else really matched at all.

I know we're still working with the face and chara generators, but I think a battle char generator would also be very nice. Just a suggestion. Any seconds?

Well, if you think it's a great idea, then write one. Alex isn't planning on programming it. At least not yet. And perhapse he won't be making it at all.

I could program it if alex gave me the faceset and cahrset generator code to base it on.
Title: Programming the battle char generator
Post by: JeremaiSealocke on April 18, 2003, 02:00:38 AM
Okay, if you guys think you can hook me up with resources, I can take care of the program. Should be a piece of cake... maybe. I'll give it a shot. Some fancy "Picture1.PaintPicture"s and a few "Export Picture1.Image"s should work... But I'm telling you, I don't have time to come up with the resources. Anybody here in particular wanna help out with that?

Title: Anyone else?
Post by: JeremaiSealocke on April 18, 2003, 02:45:16 AM
Okay, sweet. I've still got 4 weeks of school left, so that should be a nice little deadline (I don't have any programming tools on the home comp.). Anyway, that just means the faster I get resources, the faster I can finish. It'll probably be very similar to the character generator. First, we need a basic body set (an empty body and head). Then, a face set (eyes, mouth, nose), a hair set (this'll be fun!), and a clothes set. While we're at it, we might as well have an accesories set. So, if you just wanna make me a blank body ( I can make different shades/skin colors in Adobe Photoshop if you can just get me a single body). Each battlechar set follows the following format:
Three frames of magic, three frames of defending, three frames of being hit, three frames of being dead, three frames of them wavering back and forth under a status effect, three frames walking left, and three frames walking right.

On the second half of the template, there's: three frames of attack with the left hand, three hands of attacking with the right hand, and three frames of just standing there. Once again, thanks! I'll get to work right away! By the way, what time are you guys in? Right now, your clock says it's about 3 pm, but it's 8:09 where I'm at.

It seems almost interesting, but you could try to make resources (bodies, faces and others) to create this figures, and all of them must be similar to resources that we have, hairs, dresses and accessories, can you try it?

Uhm, seems that the BattleChar generator is in the wishlist, here... ;)
It should be REALLY interesting. Only problem is the pose: if you want a generator you need a base body (or a "base pose", to say it better).
I'm not sure, but this may make generated battlechars really similar, maybe too much.
Anyhow: if someone here wanna try to create it, he's welcome!

As spriters (and "generator planners") you should define one basic point: how do resources works for this generator. This implies:
- img size
- frames size
- sections (body, hairs, etc...)
- a basic template for each section
This was also said by JeremaiSealocke, mine is only a confirm.

If you decide exactly these data, if you want, i can create a beta testing area for this generator. Only need these basic answers ;)
Title: Specifications
Post by: JeremaiSealocke on April 18, 2003, 04:40:26 PM
Okay, here's where we'll start. If we can get somebody to make two sets of 48x48 frames (though the hero himself probably won't take all that space, that's the standard size) of the "naked" bodies for a male and female hero, that'd be great. I would just assume take the male and female battle char sets already in RM2k3 and just clear everything off them. Just make sure to get all the different frames/poses I listed above. I'm working on the program right now, and it's not half as hard as I thought it might be.

By the way, this program will be in English, and I can probably translate to Spanish. If anybody wants to help with the German translations, I'd be appreciative. Once I've got everything set up, I'll list the vocabulary I'll need.

Will it be in PHP or in a programming language?

BTW I made it a sticky topic.

Well, if you read the whole topic you would notice they are talking about designing a battleset generator.  Right now, there isn't one (to my knowledge, at least).

And the images to the left are called avatars, and you can set them via your profile.

Title: Tiles

It's so hard to find good tile sets, and they take so long to make.
Are you guys going to come out with some kind of tiles set generator? I think that would be awesome.

can`t you guys use one of those rm2k battle animations

Title:
Post by: GaryCXJk on April 27, 2003, 09:30:51 AM
The Character Battle Animations are diffrent. These animations are for the side view battles, and they represent the character who's attacking.

Yeah, http://nautilusproductions.tripod.com is THIS generator, and now it has it's own forum, under project section.
Maybe better to propose you there ;)

BTW: welcome back, Webby!

The battle char generator can be found here:

http://ffl2and3rocks.tripod.com/BCharGenInstall.exe

IMPORTANT NOTE: The link will only work if you right click on it and click "Save Target As". Just clicking on it will bring up an error message because Tripod doesn't allow direct linking.

I downloaded the battlechara generator. It came with no resources though. What are the guidelines for making resources? And where could some already established ones be downloaded for use or edit?

Look around these forums and you'll find some resources. Use JeremaiSealocke's base as a guideline for making resources for it.
