Something to listen to
« on: September 17, 2012, 06:27:55 PM »
It occurred to me that I don't really share music I write with you guys.  Although Most of it is all proggy and not the sort I can play in one take by myself, I wrote a tiny little piece recently to go on the end of an album and I thought you might like it.

Some guitar piece, or something.

Well that sounds pretty great. Share some more, and feel free to edit to get the full idea across. I would love to hear more.

Yeah that's some sweet guitar playing. Only heard you do a birthday song earlier.

Loverly! Definitely post more, this was fun to listen to. I really should try to pick up the guitar again myself, I pretty much only know how to play individual notes and like 10 chords. The thing that caused me to stop was my difficulty playing barre chords, though from what I understand that might be because I needed to change my old guitar strings for some softer ones.

WHO HAS PLAYED THE SONG TO SUMMON ME

I think it's wonderful. I agree, it's an album bookend if ever I heard one.

You have no money Lucas :p  Draw my front cover

I have made it. It's not all classical guitar though; it's a progressive rock/alternative/experimental thingumybob.  If you're interested I could send you something, or put it on soundcloud or something like that...?

Ey ey!

I finally got round to doing it. Sorry, I haven't changed it so I don't know what took me so long.

No idea whether you guys will like it. I've been told that some of the instrument playing is pretty bad, particularly when it comes to drums, but what can you do?

A bit too relaxed to fit my everyday listening, but it's pretty fun. I played along with it, improvising a part. It clashed so much, but towards the end, I started to take advantage of that.

Haha. I've never heard the word relaxed associated with the album, although I can see where you're coming from. It's certainly very ponderous at points.

Thanks for listening :)

I listened to the whole thing yesterday. Was nice, and I have to agree about the relaxing thing. I had it on in the background while I was off doing other things. XD

A good listen overall. There were a few parts that were kind of pitchy and others where the instruments didn't quite line up correctly (and trust me, I record my voice so I know how hard this is to do) but as you said there were some moments where the musicality was impressive (I remember there being one in the Cafe of Lost Souls specifically that gave me chills). You have a good voice for this type of music, too! Nice and deep...and British. >.>

Kind of makes me want to start working on my concept album again. Not that I ever have the time to sit down and write music these days.

Yeah that's some pretty good job there. Some parts were a bit odd but overall a great score!
