Requested: Constructive Criticizm
« on: April 08, 2009, 01:22:12 AM »
Hey guys, I am new to the community and have been working really hard on creating a character for my game. I used Gemini's Template to draw these bad boys up. Yeah i know their not even in the right format for RPG2k3 or XP i just drew them up because we're making it in java So constructive Criticism, I am trying to learn so really anything to help me get the ball rolling is Muchly appreciated.

Thank you to Fish and Val for your words of advice, and Gemini for their awesome easy to use template.

So regular sprite sheet.

And then!  The battle part, just a few of the moves so far, working on them diligently.

Yes i know he has no eyes, or face really, i just did the hair and i don't think it looks terrible, but room for improvement there for sure! Thanks guys!

Yeah, the cape looks great. :D

Is that an attack animation for a battle charset?

The shield in the character set is a bit funky. It's being faced straight at the player both in front and side views, as if he's turning his arm to accommodate for our viewing angle or something weird. You should probably try to draw it angled, or if that's too bothersome, then have it show the side view when he's facing left.

Maybe the shield has a gyroscope.

Well, lol, i used the generator so it just gave me what it gave me -.-. Eventually i might edit the shield but i may not, cause only real gamers are going to notice his shield is going to move. But yeah, im slowly learning. :D thanks for the help :D I'll prolly keep posting my work looking for some help aswell working on a good looking sword swing.

Yeah, that's what I don't like about the generator. Some of the stuff that's in there is obviously made by lazy people who pay no mind to proper angles or perspective.

Wow! It breaks the pixelly boundaries of RPG Maker. The shading makes it almost look like an artistic 3D sprite. Good job!

True. That's why Import my own resources into it. I even had it on my old computer where I could make dozens of R2's in seconds by importing Rusty's Chara.
