DB, no disrespect, but even you have to admit that his "omg j00 make crap" comeback sucked.

And yes, it added to my funny fire.

Yeah, I have to agree with you there :p

Anyway, just so we don't completely get off topic here, can you please post some more detailed information on your game? You gave us a vauge idea of the story, but its hard to make a decent opinion on your game and all unless we have some detailed information.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

Just by reading this thread, I thought I'd point some things out:

1) Why do threads like these just get much attention so they can be criticized and start flame wars? I mean like, there are so many good game threads out there that I just see... ignored. I think we should critique the good on ways to make it better, and help people with threads like this one by giving a bit of advice NICELY on making a game, and maybe point them in the direction of some tuts.

And

2)  MEISCOOL IS A GUY OMG!!! (see towards bottom)
At least... that's what s/he USED to be.

So true, dude, so true. And it's not even the good game threads, but one's that have been around since forever. Like RPG Lord's Game thread. this thread alone got more attention today than RPG Lord's prolly EVER got.

Think about it though. If you had really good food, you'd probably say "holy crap this is good". On the otherhand lets say you ate some HORRIBLE. You'd probably say "OH GOD! EW! BLEGH! THATS AWFUL!........ MAN, THAT'S BAD!".

If something is good, there's usually no reason to constantly say it. Yet if the games bad, people will point out many things wrong with it. And a topic creator whos willing to instigate everything doesn't help.

I guess I see what you mean but what if just instead of "Holy crap this is good!" you said something more like, "I wonder what this would taste like with [insert-flavoring-or-spice-here]." You know what I'm saying?

True, but if that bad food was said by your fiance's mother in law, you wouldn't dare say it was horrible.

I'm not saying keep your mouth shut, what I'm saying is being a little nicer wouldn't hurt you.

Face it, people like to express others flaws rather then make themselves look smaller by saying other people are better then them in an issue, it's human nature.

Where does this apply here? Probally nowhere.

Exactly. The good threads have minor suggestions, and thats about it, mainly because there is not much to improve on. It becomes building upon a firm foundation. And even if there are flaws, the basis of it will help cover them.

If the foundation is poor however like some of these flame threads, people will come out and point out the visible flaws.

And again, usually the one who posted the thread takes offence to ANYTHING, good or bad, and then everyone feels the need to join in the argument.
