Solar Crystal
« on: February 03, 2007, 09:54:11 AM »
The last game name was Solar Kristal, but it sounded so stupid that I had to chance it...
First I would like to apologise my english, it's not so good. I'm young so...

Yeah, and the storyline:
In the beginning there was heaven and earth. Heaven was populated by angels, earth by humans. Those days were peaceful. But there still was ancient angel laws. One of the laws was; that angels NEVER should marry humans, because angel's powers plus the greedy of human race were a bad combination. Once human man Richard fell in love with beautyful angel priestess named Yea. They had a boy baby who was named Ani  :]] But soon the other angels found out what happened. Angels executed Richard, but Yea escaped with the baby. She gave the baby to old, wise and understanding king Alexander. Alexander had wisely ruled over empire/kingdom of Saturn a long time. Alexander watched Ani to grow up, and treated him as his own son. But when Ani was 15 years old, Alex's son Marcelo murdered his father to rule over Saturn. Marcelo soon realized Ani's speciality, and used mystic rock named Solar Crystal (also known as "The Stone of Sun") to control Ani. The same rock was once used to control angel traitors. When Solar Crystal improved Ani's powers ('cause he is/was angel), Marcelo started to conquer other kingdoms under the power and law of Saturn empire/kingdom (let's call it empire from now on). But one day, somehow, Solar Crystal couldn't control Ani anymore....

Well, there's the storyline. Now some more info...

In the game (what I've so far made it) is over 400 items, if you include every skill book too, and over 300 random foes. 8 characters, 8 types of weapons (swords, maces, daggers, staffs/rods, bows/boomerangs, axes, spears and fistcuffs) and 4 types of armor (shields, helmets, body armors and rings). 48 healing items and so on.
Comment liked  :violin:

EDIT: Removed the poor maps :/

I like the story a lot. I think its funny that you quick threw some maps together and just copyrighted them, even though they are horrible looking and no one would want to use them in the first place. Anyway, your first map is just boring, its basically an open field.  I don't even know what the second one is supposed to be, the third one is average and not too bad.

So yeah, you have a good story going, just try to make your maps and other parts of the game good to go along with it :)

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

I know I'm bad to do maps.. >:/ And they don't really look like anything, they look helpless. But I'll try to make them better

Your copyright is fail for two reasons:

0. Rpg Maker 2003 is used illegally and therefore you cannot legally sell, market, use, distribute, or copyright anything associated with it.

1. You must purchase a copy right. They are not simply granted the instant you tack on a little © (date). Doesn't work that way. Oh, and copy rights can be expensive.

So just so that you are aware, anything you produce or make with RPG Maker 2003 or anything that you make that is not copy righted is GPL (General Public License).

Actually Trev, A legally Binding Copyright mustnt be purchased.

And Old trick of writers and artists is a free way, albeit a loophole, to gain a legally binding copyright on a piece of intellectual property.

It is super simple.

Ya stick your origonal document in an Envelope, and Mail it to yourself.
(Make sure youve made a copy)

It is then Govt. Stamped, Sealed, with your name and address, and its a neat little loophole to copyright something. Songrighters and authors, and artists have been doing this forever.

But ugh.....yeah. This copyright is a fail.

Of course there are loopholes, however this is what falls under the category of "intellectual property" since it doesn't take physical shape. It requires a digital signature. Ergo mailing yourself your own hard drive doesn't copyright anything on it.

Similarly, some state legislatures have overturned that loophole in state supreme courts. There was a case I read about that recently. I'll try to google it.

The 'post a letter to yourself' thing isn't always all you need nowadays. My band had to pay to have our songs held legally which sucked >.>

The story seems really good, so good luck on this game.  Even just that blurb had some interesting twists. ^_^

Also, places shouldn't be arbitrarily denoted as kingdoms or empires.  Concisly, empires extend their reach and own smaller pieces of land aside from their homeland.  That's why many times in games, empires are "evil" (wanting to extend their reach, read: take over the world).  Remember that the ruler of a kingdom is a king (or queen) and the ruler of an empire is a emperor (or empress).  Don't make Marcelo the king of an empire. :p

I am intrigued by the story, it is unique.  But there are many aspects that were much too vague.  For instance, the crystal stopped working.  Why did it stop working?  Was there an outside influence, was his power becoming to great to control?  How did he get his hands on the crystal in the first place?  Where's hell?

It's a good storyline, it just needs some work.

Also, yeah, the maps are very poor.  I would recommend looking up some map tutorials by Robotam, assuming they're still up, and if you can find them

Plot is very unoriginal when it comes to the heaven, earth, abyss genre, as in, its the exact same as every other, except the crystal (more or less).

although, don't take this the wrong way, I love the heaven, earth, abyss tactic/genre.  :D  the story is cool, but IMO, the maps are alright.  I treat ameteur games the same way as proffessional.

I don't really pay much attention to the background to the point where I go 'Oh Em Gee!  they could've done so much better with the background!' or stuff like that. (not saying you guys did, your just being a bit harsh on him is what I'm saying.)

overall view so far, the story's good, the maps are, acceptable, and the.......well, that's it. xD

1. Why the crystal stopped working? It cames out at the game.
2. Who did get his hands on a crystal? If you mean Marcelo who used it? It cames out on teh game too -_-

Thanks for comment, but most of your posts was off topic  :=)

How was it off topic?  You state that you wanted comments.  "Comments" usually refer to anything regarding the subject mentioned prior, I.E. you're game.  I commented on your game, commented on it's flaws, and as a little extra bonus, gave some advice on how to improve.  Nothing more, nothing less.  If I assumed incorrectly, then I apologize, but I think that I was directly on topic, almost humping it even.  Which I would totally do if it were a hot chick or Razor.
