What did she do with the coffee? Personally, I drink it. Too hot? I wait. An accident and it goes all on me, burning my face? Not MocDonald's fault.

The devil is in the details. It was an accident, but there's no way coffee at the correct temperature would leave 3rd-degree burns. The coffee in that case was way too hot (something like 100 degrees F over the standard), and she had every right to sue. It sounds much less stupid when the details become known.
