Hardware question...

Hi people...here's the thing: my g/f recently got a 250 gb Seagate Barracuda SATA II HD. Her mobo is a Asus A8v. Thing is, we can't figure out how to get the HD to work. She already got a SATA I in there, but we can't make the PC recognize the new one.

So I went to do some research and discovered that her mobo do not support SATA II, BUT that putting the jumper on it, it would turn into a SATA I. And so we did, but still got no success. Maybe I put the jumper in the wrong place?

Also, some people said something about installing it using the mobo CD, making a floppy and something like that.

Well, if anyone knows how to make this work, I'd appreciate the help.
