-Friday Knight-
« on: February 18, 2008, 04:42:04 PM »
This is a really random concept that I think would be a lot of fun to make- I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in taking part in the project in any way.

Basically, the game takes place in a modern day setting, where the player (I'm still debating whether making them a preset character, or a 'silent protagonist' which the player can name/customise themselves)  ends up being given powers/magic/general crazy skills by a mysterious voice- at this same time, the world, for no apparent reason becomes under attack by the flamboyantly dressed, music obsessed race of aliens known as the Talen Dee.

The catch is, that for some untold reason (it's revealed as the plot develops) the main character can only use their powers every Friday, meaning that the other days of the week are mostly played out as a sim game, where the character lives their normal daily life (perhaps with the odd spying mission or such to prepare for Friday) - and how you prepare during the week influences your abilities on Friday, as well as perhaps the storyline direction.

The game follows its own flow of time, meaning that the week, as well as the Friday attack missions on Talen Dee bases have a time limit.

The Friday missions are sectioned off into 'levels' and 'worlds' of the bases you've discovered, of which you can do one each in-game Friday, each one taking you further to the enemy base in each 'world', where you'll fight a main boss on one of the Talen Dee's bizzarre theatre-based arenas.

It's a game that really doesn't take itself seriously, while still having a fun plot to follow, with a few twists already, and I'm looking for anyone who thinks they might like to help out with the project in any way, I'm especially looking for people to help with graphics and maps (never my strong point) but anyone wanting to help with anything, such as storyline, ideas, music, sounds, or anything else is welcome to contribute.

Thanks for hearing me out!
Hope to hear from some of you soon!  :)

Sounds interesting, but I think the friday thing might just end up being annoying. Plus, it sounds as if it'll just be the one character. If this is a turn based rpg then that just won't hold interest.

But then again, who knows? You probably have a better idea of how you're going to make this work. I'll wait and see.

Well, it'll be mostly based around the one main character, but that isn't to say that there won't be other party members joining.

And I may make it so that you can skip to the next Friday if the player decides to, only you'll be given default abilities, and possibly miss extra story paths etc.

If you've ever played it, think ActRaiser for the SNES, it had platforming sections, then inbetween those it had RTS style sections where you could build up your stats and unlock areas, though you could usually just dive straight into the action if you wanted, but that wasn't really the point of the game.
