I've had that idea before too. When I pitched it to my friends they just dropped their jaw and bitched about how lame and offensive they thought it was.

People don't realize that games are just games.... nothing more.

Wow...I had quite a few ideas. For example:
It turns out, nobody wants to play a game with Sailor Moon and Sephiroth. Who'da thunk it?  :o
No, but seriously...
The game was about a kid who found a magic gun that was powered by aspirations. It belonged to an otherworldly kingdom, and they'd pretty much force him (under threat of memory erasing) to help them fight against whatever evil threatened Earth. I was somewhat inspired by Riviera: The Promised Land in that I didn't want a traditional level-up system--I wanted to have a set amount of HP. SP could be recovered by 'focusing', and was used with every shot of the gun. Normal attacks were merely kicks and various sorts of kicking-attacks (triple kicks, jump-kicks, etc). The skills for the gun were determined by what parts you had equipped. Similar mechanics were planned for the spell-caster; simple slaps or punches for melee, various skills determined by what books she found and used.

Gun-parts were forged by mixing random items found around towns and such (keys, screws, spare change) and fusing them with dreams the main character 'loaded' from NPCs (which were to be obtained in a manner similar to the S. Links in Persona 3).

Unfortunately, I don't have the know-how to bring that to life...
I had a game I was working on after Ruins Of Azgayle plummeted into the depths of virus land called "Aqua Teen Hunger Force RPG"

I wanted to give shake, meatwad, frylock and carl a skill system where they did things together in battle and blah blah..

The game had some random sprites and a cooky storyline that just lost it's appeal to me.  I scrapped the project and starting working on RoA for the XP.   Which now turned into a project I got hooked on called "Crystal Crazy".    I get lazy sometimes like all of you so maybe i'll get around to putting out a real rpg like RoA again on the XP.

I've had tons of ideas that have failed.  ****, I've had an idea for a medieval survival horror about demons XD  Didn't quite work out because I didn't know how to code an ABS at the time, but it was still a fun idea to play with.

I've messed around with an adventure game that's pretty much completely story-driven, didn't go so well, ended up as 'Walk from point A to point B'.

One of my most disappointing failures was when I tried to make a game that was basically what would happen if you combined Runescape and Quest For Glory.

I've tried to make a character similar to a Paladin in Warcraft or even a Paladin in Maplestory, thinking about it.  Basically the character had a fire aura, lightning aura, ice aura, a dark aura and a light aura.  Each aura had its own unique traits, such as poisoning an enemy, having a chance to stun them, and then if released the aura, it would do a specific amount of damage and give some kind of special effect to the enemy.  Unfortunately, even though the system itself worked perfectly, I never finished the game.

Off the top of my head, most of my failed game ideas are just plots.  Seems this thread has made me realize I'm not quite the most creative person when it comes to unique features.

I am not kidding, I have at least 30 games that I've made. Some last 10 minutes, some last hours. I've never completed one. Well my latest project is going great, actually. It's nearly done.

I also made a 2 player turn-based strategy where you went  head to head and that was great. Never succeeded though.
