Super Mario RPG 3 will be out soon :D

That's reason alone to get a DS.

I agree with just about everything above, really. Although he missed out Castlevania.
I'd DEFINITELY get Castlevania: PoR and DoS

Animal Crossing. Code. Now.
Or Diamond. Now.

I wanted to test using a flash cart with friend codes, but nobody from Charas is ever on anything, and those are the only codes I can get without being a creep. <.<

Jump Ultimate Stars.

It's like Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers, but with a better fighting system, and over 300 characters. Best of all, it's terrifically balanced. Sure, it's hard work unlocking everyone, but Wi-Fi play and the sheer wealth of characters included are reason alone to own this fighter. Forget Naruto and Kenshin--Cobra is in here! COBRA! Not Commander Cobra, mind--this is a Cobra in a red jump-suit and a Megabuster-style 'Psycho Gun'. Then there's Eyeshield 21 (footballplayers--for real), Jotaro Kujo and Dio Brando....just get the game!

Alternatively, if you want a 'deep' fighting game, there's Bleach: Dark Souls. I know, it's 'Bleach', but it was made by Treasure--they've never made a bad 2-D game.

Also: Contact. It's a hilarious and thoughtful RPG that takes a sledgehammer to the Fourth Wall.

no one mentioned Advance Wars? Okay then...

Advance Wars.

Dual Strike is fun and entertaining. The campaign is fun and moderately challenging, and the Hard mode is there if you want a challenge. Great characters. Good strategic gameplay, and over-the-top strategy-breaking CO Powers.

Days of Ruin has a more difficult gameplay system, and is much deeper and more challenging. BUT it has a paper-thin plot, bland and annoying characters, a vicious learning curve, and only 15 CO's to Dual's 27. Plus, there's much less CO variety in DoR.

And seriously. Black Hole.
