I understand the problem (Pythagorean Theorem, btw), I'm just saying that it only works on a right triangle, and that without mention of scale differences, there's absolutely no way you can have one of the sides be 9 and the other 4, since you use an isosceles triangle (or is it equilateral? It's hard to tell, since the proportions tend to change on your avatar from time to time).

Hell, I'll just call it acute. Good enough.

Lucy and his boyfriend are right. There's no way of knowing the remaining side of a triangle without knowing at least one of the angles.

Well, it's an equilateral triangle, so we know that all angles = 60 degrees. Using trig on that should not be difficult at all.

EDIT: Then again, two sides are of different lengths, according to the avatar already, so how can it be equilateral?! This is the impossible math quiz with triangles which are not to scale!!

Okay, you guys caught me. I'm a math hack.

Regardless of it's accuracy in the world of math, I still had fun making it.

Luc, are you trying to make a joke, or are you just retarded with math?

C=9 if it's isoceles, as the diagram details.

BUT IF IT'S EQUAL ANGLES AND SIDE LENGTHS, AS THE DIAGRAM WOULD LEAD US TO BELIEVE, THEN ALL SIDES=9CM.

I can't tell if that's a 9 or a y so...

If the left side says '9', then the empty side is also 9 and Apex is an Isosceles.

If the left side says 'y', then the empty side is 4, and so is y, and Apex is equilateral.

But enough of that, this topic obviously says Dead/Undead week!, not Trig week!. D:

Obviously Apex is trying to tell us that 4 is equal to 9.

I am using this opportunity to sorta practice for my Pre-Calc/Trig final.

Well, couldn't you use the law of sines to find all sides and angles? You know...

Side A/Sine of Angle A = Side B/Sine of Angle B = Side C/Sine of Angle C

I will assuma angle C = 90

Side A=2
Side C=9
Angle C=90'

9/Sin 90 = 2/Sin A
9 Sin A = 2 Sin 90
Sin A = 2 Sin 90/9
Sin A = 2 (1)/9
Sin A = 2/9
Angle A = Arcsin 2/9
Angle A = 12.8
12.8 + 90 = 102.8
180 - 102.8 = 77.2 = Angle B

Angle A = 12.8
Angle B = 77.2
Angle C = 90

Side B/Sin 77.2 = 9/Sin 90
Side B (Sin 90) = 9 (Sin 77.2)
Side B = 9 (Sin 77.2)/Sin 90
Side B = 8.8

Side A = 2
Side B = 8.8
Side C = 9

Now, as the whole triangle. Assuming it reflects perfectly, the bottom side is 4, and the other two sides are 9. Both bottom angles are equal, and the top angle is 25.6. So both bottom angles equal to 77.2.

Now I wait for someone to point out some error of mine, which just screws this up.

I also demand Trig week!
