You guys are difficult to please.

As promised, here are the new and improved chip's screenshots. I also included a couple animated gifs.

This is supposed to be an apothecary, very applicable in this setting. The shelves are supposed to have glass backing, so they look a bit better on lighter backgrounds, but they're fine here too. The items on the shelves, like the books in the bookcase are fully customizable, and here I stuffed them with items of Victorian medicine. There's also a phrenology model head on the desk there. I imagine there can be vendors with the medicine cart on the left around town to sell you potions and such on the go.

Wanted to show off the fixed bed. I'll make it so you can change the colors of the sheets if purple's not your thing (the curtains too). The chest there opens.

Wanted to show off the mirror.....which is too high for me to reach. :(

The Weapons Shop. As you can see, there's some steampunk-style guns mounted on the wall. I may redo the crates, since they stand out a bit much, but I think it's cool that you can stack them like I did. The copper tank is highly customizable, but I'll get to that later.

Here's the fan animated...sorry for the crappy quality. It's a blown-up gif and looks pretty blurry:

I made nine paintings for this chip. I can make more if anyone working on the game requests.

I think the map on the wall looks pretty damn good. The table is actually based a real one in the White House called the Treaty Table. Also note the model airship in the center of it.

Mr. Clock wonders why you guys don't love it.

The workshop revisited. You can add hatches to either side of the copper tank (You can also elongate the tank itself, but I forgot to do that in this chip.) They can then be opened to either be empty or to show a flame and some sparks, I guess for smelting or cooking purposes. You can add a pipe to the top of the tank, too. The dials at the bottom right are animated...I placed them a little too high, but you get the idea.

The boiler again. I made a bunch of animated gears spinning, but I don't really know where to put them. They'd probably look fine on pipes or walls, or you could put them in the black margin like I did here.

The boiler animated:

I made a few doors, all fully animated. I plan to make many more, but I'll do that when I'm mostly through the outdoor chip.

The fireplace, unlit.

The fireplace, animated:

That's all for now, I think I screenshotted most of what I've done.

Other than that, it looks great

Mother fuckers I don't have internet unless I'm at work. Chill out.

What I said is that as far as the chipsets go, they look nice, but possess very little to distinguish them as steampunk from a neo-Victorian style. The two things are not the same, otherwise I wouldn't have referred to them separately. Example: V for Vendetta is neo-Victorian. I'm not going to list a steampunk example as I'm not sure if anyone will know what it is, but it is more of a reflection of modern technologies in historic methods.

Oh ****, the one big city in FF9. What the **** is it. With the monster hunt. Yeah that one. It's steampunk. Look at the train station thing or whatever. It's been awhile.

Needs less "perspective" as in trapezoidness. Realistic perspective only uses one point. (Well, two, but they are pretty close.)

Please make the bookshelves and stuff have a rectangular top. Right now it makes me feel like I don't know where objects are in space.

I like the random gears floating out in space.

No, seriously.

Even though that the charset isn't part of the chipset, I must admit, that char is quite nice looking.
Anyways, I like the animations, those are superbly done. Especially the boiler. Although I'd personally prefer it if it was made of brass, but that's quite easily edited, for when you actually release the set.
The random floating gears are pretty badass, nice to see someone actually putting things into the negative space.
As I said before, the horse portrait looks slightly strange to me, but that's mostly due to a fairly high degree of colorblindness.

Trust me, I love both of them, although the mirror looks a bit tooo metallic. Like steely.

Yeah, fish is probably right. It's the smoothness of the whole thing. I always prefered clear and clean outlines, rather than this smoothness. Still awesome though.

They are great. Seriously great. We just let people complaining get their own sets or edit yours to fit their needs.
Great job.

Thanks......I'm just getting discouraged very quickly. I spent hours and hours on this, and the prospect of people preferring an FF6 rip over my original work is a slap in the face.

No offense but, being perfectly honest, it is... it is... okay, you know, I'll just outright and be offensive: it's a few people being idiots. The majority though approve and this is what counts. You shouldn't be discouraged because a few people give... questionably intelligible critiques like suggesting a FF6 chipset rip for pipes (no offense, I don't know where it was going here so if I misinterpret the intention...). It is only like two people really. I haven't been keeping up but that's how it seems to me. I don't mean to step on toes but you guys... there's a difference between constructive critique and destructive critique. Try to be helpful and not difficult.

But anyways, don't let it get to you Val. It's coming along and has quite improved. :)

The chipsets are nice and clean and I like the clock I think I mentioned. If I didn't then I forgot to. XD

I honestly don't know if I want to continue working on the outdoor chip. I'll wait a few days and see. It's hours and hours of hard work and careful detail for a tepid response. And I have no idea if anyone even wants to use this chip for the chain game. Only Fish has really embraced that idea. If people were specifically requesting items for me to add to the chip, I would appreciate that greatly, but the fact that they aren't suggests to me that this chip is just going to be ignored.

I'm ranting now, but I want to get this out. People rip and recolor professional work and get showered with praise. But put in the massive effort to try to bring something new to the RM2K community, and.....nobody cares. Nobody cares that you spent 24 hours going pixel by pixel. There is no incentive for original artists to make anything new. Why should I bother?

It's bound to occur a few times in a spriter's life. I have a feeling I've felt this before. If you want me to, I'll suggest items.
