EDIT: Also, I'm wrong, according to wiki.
Damn

DON'T ABBREVIATE WIKIPEDIA AS WIKI. Wiki refers to the software Wikipedia uses.

I define irony as a surprisingly contrasted juxtaposition of cause and effect, often in a humorous or frustrating manner.

Now I have a piece of paper which can prove I speak english. That's more than most native speakers have.

Especially since being born in an English-speaking country just doesn't seem to do the trick these days for native English-speakers. (u_u)

NB: Oh, you speak English?
YT: Yes! (^_^)
NB: I don't believe you...
YT: Waahhh!~ *runs away*

For convenience, I have my ESL documents in card form to carry around in my wallet just in case I need to "whip it out for the non-believers."

To quote Bender on one particular definition:

Bender:
The use of words expressing something other than their literal intention. Now that IS irony!

Ironically, irony is used in the opposite way that it was intended a few decades ago. Irony instead now means a fortunate coincidence.

STUPID NEW IRONY: I'm glad I put my valuable items in that safety deposit box and got those new locks. There was a series of burglaries in my neighborhood recently.

New irony needs a word of its own, so that the bastardization of irony may cease.
