Raging Wilds
« on: May 09, 2009, 09:59:24 PM »
Alright I have finally started a story and got the title for the game.

But I wanted to let you guys and Val know how it is going.

First of all the title is
Raging Wilds
Introduction when you first enter the game:
The West was carved from the sweat and blood of the many men of the time. These men tilled the land, mined the mountains, fished the waters and hunted the plains to make their way. More than just these good people roamed the West however. Indians and criminals, all who wished to take for their own personal gain, laid wait in the wilds. However, no matter how much violence and crime ensued, there was good to conquer. Stories have been written about the most famous cowboys such as Roy Rodgers, Buffalo Bill and Adam Cartwright...
...Here is a story about one cowboy you may not know...

Your character can be either a male or a female. It is your preference. Certain options will change depending on the sex of your character. But the background is the same with a small twist as bakc in the day criminals and indians did not kill women or children. There is a special character you can get once you beat the game, as well as different costumes.

You do have the option to change the name of the character

The male character's name is
Roy O'Connell

Age:26
Hometown: Dover,Delaware
Left for the West on August 21, 1849
Background: Came from Delaware two days after the East coast found out about the gold rush. He left from Missouri, the most common starting point for 49ers, using the California Trail to travel to California. There were many hardships along the way such as famine, ox dying, Indian raids. The hardest to take was losing his sister in a raid from Indians. They took her away from him and he has yet to see her. He hopes to find her one day if he can. After her capture he rode alone along the trail staying away from others. Roy has a soft spot for children.

The female character's name is
Lisa O'Connell
(charaset coming soon)
Age:20
Hometown: Dover,Delaware
Left for the West on August 21, 1849
Background: Came from Delaware two days after the East coast found out about the gold rush withher brother. She left from Missouri, the most common starting point for 49ers, using the California Trail to travel to California. There were many hardships along the way such as famine, ox dying, Indian raids. The hardest to take was losing her brother in a raid from Indians. They killed him in a brutal skirmish. She vows to get the Indians back. After the raid she rode alone being very quiet. She has a major dislike for any Indians.

The game takes place in El Dorado County
EDIT: My bad there is a dotted line going from Shingle Springs to Coloma it is really supposed to be a dash-dot line like the other one before it

I will add more when I get more done. I'll have a list of systems up soon. Just tell me what you guys think

Oh yeah, man. I've always wanted to make a western game. The farthest I ever got was this one time collabing with ZKX. Had some isometric graphics laid out, some music, and a whole story. Not much past that.

I've been making some tiles for the game, and gathering some. Not very many western chipsets out there

I could help. I'm currently working on my own games, and need some time off from that. If you could tell me the style of charsets, i could help there.

Western, eh? You're done imposin' some limitations there, boy. There's not much chance for monsters, or the equivalent mutants/aliens/robots you'd find in a sci-fi game. If you're making it realistic, o' course. I personally am not much of a fan of crossover Western games, like robot cowboys, which I frankly find ridiculously oxymoronic, but something like giant sand worms could be interesting.
