I choose to quote Pratchett in this matter.

"Vimes had once discussed the Ephebian idea of 'Democracy' with Carrot, and had been rather interested in the idea that everyone had a vote until he found out that while he, Vimes, would have a vote, there was no way in the rules that anyone could prevent Nobby Nobbs from having one as well. Vimes saw the flaw there straightaway."

Alright, got it now >_>

Hmm...my views are complicated, so I'll just say that I think that government as a whole is a good idea until we get the human element in it, because humans in positions of power have a tendency to become corrupt, and will dick up the whole system

The government is a necessary evil, because no system is worse than anarchy. Check out Somalia circa 1992 as an example of what happens when the government loses control. Chaos beyond chaos.

I agree that it is a necessary evil, but a true democracy, where everybody is equal to one another and nobody has any real difference in power is probably the best course in action

Won't ever exist unless the people become soulless and/or undead.

How about a vision of the future where the people are not elected, and have no representatives... only a remote that allows them to vote on action, broadcast on television?

That is a fairy tale, my friend. All men (and some women) want power and thus we can never be equal. That's like if every one had same big fancy house, it wouldn't last because somebody want to paint his house green and maybe after wards add a few rooms. Then his neighbor would want to add few on to hers so that her house wouldn't looks so small and insignificant next to his. Get it? We want to be important and powerful and when we can't have power we just do what we want anyway, but that's why the government exists in the first place isn't? So that small people like you and me can't paint our house green.

Aside that prince who abdicated and became the first Buddha. Or something. I need to catch up with my history.
